Not my first pair
Been using this model Leki for several years. Love the shape of the grip. It allows for quick changes to how you hold the poles. Especially on the downhill. The adjustment and locking feature is one of the best on the market. When I broke a pole section hiking the AT in the White Mountains I immediately ordered another set.

Lightweight and strong, but no shock absorber.
I bought the Leki micro vario carbon walking sticks (made in Taiwan) to replace my Leki Sierra Photo walking sticks (made in the Czech Rebuplic) because they are lighter. The Sierra Photo walking sticks were brilliantly made with a spring which removes the impact shock of each step. I had to add curved tips to the micro vario carbon walking sticks to remove 50% of the impact shock. The two best features of the micro vario carbon sticks are the weight and the strength. I read the review of the assembly instructions, but when I realized that you had to take them literally, and pull hard, they seemed fine.I added a kit to remove the small stones that get caught in the tread of the tips. It is comprised of the Apple pencil case either #1 or #2., a premium O. R. grade auto cleavable molt M9 perioseal elevator (JM brand), or a smaller, SS para cord tucking tool from Jig Pro Shop, and industrial grade Thumb Dressing Forceps 5-1/2" Serrated, made in Pakistan. The one star review on the tweezers is irrelevant due to the use of the tweezer as a stone remover. All items are available on Amazon.

The best poles money can buy.
I had initially purchased a $60 aluminum pole and then I got this one (on 30% sale).I can honestly say this hiking pole is worth at least twice my $60 poles.First of all, it is very light. I could feel the difference especially when I am hiking 10 miles or more.Second, these are bomb-proof. These sticks can take a big time beating and support me and my 30lb backpack without problems.Third, the locking mechanism on this pole is top notch. If you backpack a lot, then I would recommend these poles as these would be an upgrade over almost any other pole.Pros:1)Light and super sturdy.2)Locking mechanism is top notch without adding bulk.3)Leki has lifetime guarantee and it even replaces parts (or entire poles) when damaged.Cons:1)The most expensive but also the best poles.2)Makes other backpackers look at your poles with envy. :)

UPDATE 11/18: I trained with them thru September & August, often hiking 6+ hours. I also did an ultra-marathon in October with these, hiking for 30+ hours. They were great. Very durable. Highly recommend.ORIGINAL:I've only had these for about a month so not exactly sure how durable they will be. Used them on a 8mi hike and really enjoyed them. Very light, easy to collapse for storage and quickly adjustable while going up and down hills. I put a lot of pressure on them while going downhills and felt fully supported. Grips are very comfortable and caused no callouses. If you've never used hiking poles before, I'd recommend checking out a video or two on Youtube to get tips on how to use them. It was a bit tricky to figure out that you have to pull until the spring catches to make the poles remain extended and then pull again to make them collapse.

Light and very strong
The product was as good as Leki claimed. We used them to climb straight up after mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda.

There are forums on how to assemble
If you use these every day they’re probably great. If you use them twice a month, every single time you will struggle to assemble. Absurdly counterintuitive. There are literally hundreds of posts about this — not just on the website but elsewhere.

Expensive, but worth every penny
Bought some lower priced telescopic walking poles at first. We’re heavier than expected and still quite long when collapsed. Upgraded for these and considered myself very lucky having done so when descending steep mountain paths.

Light and effective
Very adjustable, comfortable to use. They help to reduce knee and hip impact on slopes and add extra balance support. I would recommend getting a pair of rubber feet for use on paved or rocky surfaces.

super light
only used a few times in the mountains - but already love them - super light, easy to collapse/setup. Adjustable strap is good too!
