Ends The Series Well!
Dawn of the Arcana Volume 13 ends the series on a triumphant note. Assured storytelling combined with Toma’s trademark soft pathos combine to create a finale so perfect for this story. With several twists, don’t expect a happy ever after but definitely know that so much of the foreshadowing the in the first volume really make a lot of sense now in the final volume.Story: Loki has demanded that Nakaba give up Seinen to him. Caesar and Nakaba are left with a choice – kill Loki or acquiesce to his plans to separate the Ajin from the humans completely. Nakaba’s heart is broken and not even Caesar can heal what Loki has done. But the Arcana has one last gift for Nakaba – a view into Loki’s heart.I really enjoyed this series. Toma never took the easy route for the characters and situations she created – making parts of the storyline very sad and several characters uniquely tragic. Although it would appear the series was about Nakaba or Nakaba/Caesar, in reality, it’s clear at the end that the story was really about Loki and Nakaba. Especially, their past and history together. The ending chapters are mostly pictures that really showcase Toma’s clean illustration style. She allows the images to tell the story, as Nakaba finally comes to understand both Loki’s unswerving loyalty as well as his bitter betrayal. This ending comes at the right time; enough story to enjoy but not enough to where it drags out and becomes tedious to continue.Fans of the series will definitely want to make sure to pick up this final volume. And then immediately afterwards, go back and read the first volume to really understand Loki and so much of the foreshadowing in this well plotted storyline.Reviewed from an ARC.

Happy and heartbroken
This series was great. I stayed up late just to read it all in one sitting. I definitely have mixed emotions about this ending. I was a little happy, a little heartbroken, and wanted just a little more in the end. It's going to be hard to let go of these characters. I fell in love with them through the 13 volumes. Each had a purpose, and the author definitely didn't lack in character development. I'll definitely be looking out for her works again.

The answer is... segregation?
Final volume of the manga series. In a strange way, this volume is a coda to the main series. It starts where volume 12 ended, with Loki demanding that Nakaba give him the nation of Senan. He also cuts his ties with Nakaba, stating that he intends Senan to be solely for Ajin people, with all ordinary humans living in Belquat. Nakaba is severely depressed by this, crying and having trouble doing much. However, Caesar reinstates Nakaba as his wife, with Louise willingly stepping down. Caesar announces that he will transfer Ajin by sectors, so the Ajin can acclimatise to the move and to help it happen without putting too much on either nation. The humans from Senan are settled in the Belquat capital or the surrounding area. The motive for this seems intelligent. By separating the two species, each can learn to appreciate the other, rather than trying to force the humans to release their slaves and see them living freely beside them at first. This is the idea, anyway. But just as Nakaba starts to adjust, she has a sense that something is wrong. Some time after that, Nakaba is told that Loki is dead, due to using his Arcana too much. Nakaba collapses, locked in visions from her Arcana. With Caesar shouting for her, Nakaba experiences Loki's past, and learns that Loki hated and loved her in ways she never understood before.Emotionally, it's a nicely touching finale, although it does make some of the previous volumes in this story a bit confusing. As usual, the art is okay, though I thought Nakaba seemed a bit gawky compared to previous depictions. However, it seems a rounded and generally pleasing story from start to finish. Not nearly as angsty as some.
