Favorite pair of shoes I've ever had.
Favorite pair of shoes I've ever had. On my second pair. Below is a copy of the feedback I left Kizik via their website: Hey, I just wanted to give some positive feedback and ask that you never stop making the black-on-black Madrid shoe. I've just replaced my first pair after 2+ years or so wearing them every single day, and that's only because I wore the tread flat after hundreds of miles of walking - the uppers are still perfect. I'm actually keeping the old pair as house slippers, because they're still perfectly functional for most stuff that doesn't require tread. Points of praise: - They were wonderful while travelling in Japan, where shoes have to be removed often to enter most hotels and many restaurants, etc, and the ability to kick them off and step into them made that so easy. This is also true for airports where one has to take shoes off during security screening. - They're incredibly comfortable, whether walking 15+ in a single day on the streets of Chicago or hiking a mountain in Japan. -They're very lightweight, which is great when you're putting in miles a day - every gram counts. - I can machine wash them them by throwing them in the washer every couple of weeks and letting them air dry, and they've held up wonderfully to that with no noticeable wear. - They dry quickly as well once wet and are very breatheable. - I appreciate that the black-on-black with lack of large ugly logos makes them incredibly versatile. That discreetness is especially useful while traveling, when you might be tempted to pack another pair of dressier shoes in case you find yourself visiting an upscale restaurant or something. They blend in with any outfit. I've mentioned travel a few times above, and while I find them to be perfect everyday shoes, I think they're the perfect travel shoe for the reasons stated above - maybe you can use that in your marketing? In any case, I hope you appreciate the positive feedback. I implore you to never stop making these or change them. I'm an avid hiker and I've found 'the perfect hiking shoe' several times, but when it came time to replace them, the manufacturer apparently felt the need to change things for no good reason. You keep making these, and I'll keep buying them and recommending them to others.

Best shoe brand hands down
Best brand of shoes for working on your feet. Sized right, durable, comfy, easy to slip on and off, and looks simple and clean.

Very comfortable.
Very comfortable, true to size, easy to put on.

Good shoe but not as good as last year's model.
I bought these same shoes last year and found them so comfortable to walk in that they were the only shoes I really enjoyed wearing. They were comfortable from the moment I put them on and remained that way. Given the wear I put on them year round, I wanted to get another pair. The recent pair looks the same but the sizing is different and the toe box is smaller, squeezing the foot and creating a blister on a long walk. It is too late to send them back but i hope the company returns to the original sizing and a wide toe box.

Good hands-free function... Poor traction
If you rate it by its purported hands-free kick-in method, then its 5 stars. The breathability is fair, good enough. Its not on par with some of the designer technical mesh footwear, but its about what you can expect from a woven design and for the everyday activities you'd want to wear these for. Contrary to what other reviewers say, its not stylish. Ugly textured gray isnt stylish (the other sleeker colors/designs were far more expensive). Its very sterile and antiquated in fact. In theory, texture hides dirt but there is still plenty of white on this shoe to display its filth level. The big flaw in this shoe is the poor traction. I am a nimble thirty something year old who swing dances and does parkour for fun (wearing other more suitable footwear while doing so); my balance is excellent. Yet I have slipped and fallen in these because they are slick on many flat surfaces. I am not hiking in them or anything, but even just gravel driveways in the city or flat smooth asphalt did the trick, while either going at slow speeds or while stationary (such as getting out of my car). Why not design a shoe that has some grip? Unfortunately I probably wont buy these shoes again because I dont want to compromise traction and stability for the kick-in hands free gimmick. While other shoe brands are actively trying to out-grip their competition, this one here cheaps out. Keep in mind, you can always buy a superior shoe, ultra-grip, ultra sturdy, and add elastic laces to make it a slip-on... The slightly increased ease of buying these kick-in styles might not be worth the trade offs.

Hands Free, Supportive and Comfortable
Prior to having a total hip replacement if my left hip, I was shopping for a pair of sneakers that I could put on by myself without bending over and from a standing or sitting position. KIZIKS ARE EXACTLY THE SHOE I WAS LOOKING FOR. The shoelaces are adjustable prior to putting on for a tighter fit. I use my cane to remove each shoe very easily — from a standing or sitting position. These Kiziks are also comfortable and supportive. Better than barefoot for walking after surgery even if you’re not walking very far or very often. I am going to buy another pair for just indoors. Excellent quality. Also, a big plus for me is they add almost 2 inches to my height. I wear an 8 medium in an ASICS running shoe and purchased these Kizik in women’s size 8. They fit very well. Eager to see if they are as supportive for walking longer distances on all terrains.

Wasted $100: Beware of Kizik
So I contact Kizik politely, to explain my situation: Love their Madrid Eco Knit, which I’ve been wearing for several years (have bought several pairs by now). Love it so much that I bought a pair to keep in reserve. When I took it out to wear, I discovered that the construction of the shoe had been changed. (The most obvious change was the enlargement of the outsole, which now looked somewhat bloated and clown-like—I did not include this in my message.) My big toes hurt when I wear the shoes now, no matter how gradually I try to break them in. “Do you have any suggestions, please?” I ask. I thought maybe that stretching them out in a certain way might help. I get a response from someone with the name Maricel, who first asks for my (most recent) order number, which I promptly provide. Maricel then informs me that I am out of luck. Maricel contacted the warranty department, which responded by saying that the shoes don’t qualify for a return. The email concludes with the happy message, “The best is always around the bend.” I hadn’t asked to return the shoes. I had asked for guidance as to what someone in my situation might do. This was not a question for the warranty department. I’ve tried stretching out the shoes with some heavy wooden shoe trees but so far, no luck. Looks like I wasted $100 on shoes that I won’t be able to wear. I remember how wonderful customer service at Kizik was in years gone by. Too bad that this seems to have changed.
