Dim But They Don't Wake You Up!
These night lights definitely take a bit of getting used to, but I can't say enough good things about how effective they are at preventing full wakefulness when you have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. I did some research and decided to switch out our white night lights with these red ones because I know how effective they are at mitigating the harmful effects of blue wavelengths, most notably being melatonin suppression, that traditional white lights (and screens) emit. Now when I wake up, I can go back to sleep much easier than I was previously able to. My family did, however, think that our bathroom started to look like a scene from a horror movie lol, but if you can get past that, I think they're totally worth it! One more thing worth mentioning is that they are much dimmer than usual lights, so that may make it a bit more difficult to see or find things. I found that we were all able to adjust just fine, but it is something to keep in mind.

Top Notch Night Light
Update: after a little over 2 years it finally died. Great night light. But now you know their lifespan. The photocell on these night lights is very sensitive. They will turn off during the day time even if they are not in direct sunlight, which I really appreciate. Not wasting electricity, no matter how minuscule of an amount it may be, is a benefit. In the evening they illuminate very well, although they are not offensively bright. The shade of red that they produce does not upset me when I wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. It provides just the right amount of illumination to satisfy my toddler as well. My sleep doctor recommended these, as they are not supposed to mess with your circadian rhythms as much as normal night lights.

Lovely
We have this in our bathroom. I tried four different red night lights. The others were all too bright and disturbing to my eyes/sleep in the middle of the night. This one is large, and illuminating, but soft and easy on the eyes. It’s quite lovely. If it were up to me, I’d make it even a tad less bright, but, I think it’s great and it’s my first choice.

Not bright enough…
Good luck changing diapers with these only… not nearly enough light. Very faint.

Excellent nightlights
I have no idea whether SomniLight's talk of melatonin makes scientific sense. But any amateur astronomer can tell you that since red is the color to which the eye is least sensitive you can use red light without ruining your night vision. That itself explains why these lights don't disrupt sleep: you can use them without telling your eyes -- or your brain -- that its time to adjust to daylight. They provide a soft, gentle light that illuminates a hallway, bathroom, or whatever else you need to see at night. They do so without disturbing your senses and without giving you the sensation, when you're trying to go to sleep, that there's a light on somewhere that needs to be turned off.

Gentle and dim lights
These are (probably) truly sleep safe and non-disrupting of the circadian rhythm. That being said they are dim and let you just barely see in a pitch black room. But very little light. So that's good or bad, depending on what you want them for. Great for a bedroom light, not as good for a hall light or bathroom light.

Excellent night lights!
SomniLight is awesome and I'm so glad I found their products. I have these night lights and an amber reading lamp that are all fantastic. I have a very hard time falling asleep again if I get up in the night, and these night lights help prevent me waking up and turning on a light. I'm able to see my way around without the shock of bright lights. The automatic sensor is great so I never have to worry about remembering to turn them on. We put one in the bathroom since that's usually where you in the middle of the night, and one in the kitchen in case we have to go check on anything out there. Best night lights ever!

Love th amount of light but the sensors on both ...
Love th amount of light but the sensors on both my nights are defective. Neither one turns off during the day/when the room lights are on which will shorten their useful life.
