France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets. Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world. But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name. Review: A book about being human. Being loved. To love. - “They teach you growing up that you are only one thing at a time - angry, lonely, content - but he has never found that to be true. He is a dozen things at once. He is lost and scared and grateful, he is sorry and happy and afraid. But he is not alone.” ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️ “What she NEEDS are stories. Stories are a way to preserve one’s self. To be remembered. And to forget. Stories come in so many forms: in charcoal, and in song, in paintings, poems, films. And BOOKS. Books, she has found, are a way to live a thousand lives - or to find strength in a very long one.” This book. 😮💨 this book is EVERYTHING I needed and everything I didn’t know I was needing. This beautiful story is thought-provoking, emotional and fantastical. It had me wondering what does living successfully mean? Are you only successful if you are remembered? If you make a mark in this world? And what would I sacrifice for happiness? The story also explored what it means to be human. To be loved. To love. For my friends who know nothing about Addie LaRue this is definitely a fantasy with a dash of romance. I wouldn’t call it a straight romance book but rather explores themes of love. I am seriously so thankful I branched out of the stories I usually read to read this. These characters, especially Addie, will stick with me for life. V.E. Schwab’s writing is gorgeous. A work of art. I immediately bought books off her backlist after reading this. I read this as an audiobook and I couldn’t recommend it more in this format. Julia Whelan did a phenomenal job bringing this book to life. Her emotions could be felt so vividly. I sobbed my way through many parts of this story 🥹 Thank you to everyone who encouraged me to read this. I will be sending you my therapy bill but I am so thankful 😂 Review: Best Book of the Year - Unbelievably good. Superb writing.

Might be my favorite edition of the book
The book itself is wonderful, but this specific version is gorgeous in itself. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous and the book itself is the closest version I have found to a pocket edition because of how small it is.

Probably one of my favorite books ever!
Oh my goodness, this book, physically is beautiful, I loved the illustrations included, imagining them are one thing but having something specifically selected to represent the journey of Addie was wonderful to have. And the story, PHENOMENAL, its heartbreakingly beautiful is so many ways. I am so glad I snagged this book!!

Good book, overpriced poorly drawn edition not worth the price hike. Get the regular edition.
Addie LaRue is compulsively readable and addictive; it's a really good novel...but is it a great novel? No, because there is something missing, something that makes the experience feel empty and hollow. What that is though, I cannot say. Addie LaRue is a girl who makes a deal with a fickle god for more time on earth. He twists her words and curses her to a life of never being remembered, and for over 300 years, no one remembers her until she meets Henry Strauss. Addie is a unique character, shes likable if not lovable. She makes interesting choices given her circumstances, and she's admirably resilient. I found myself wanting to know more about the other characters who are equally interesting. Dual timelines keep this novel from ever feeling like it's dragging or overstaying its welcome. This novel is memorable and fast-paced. The ending isn't bad either, but there's still something empty about this experience that keeps it from reaching a 5-star rating for me. Why that is I may never know but I know for me there's something that makes me feel slightly unsatisfied, that being said it's a very good book and worth reading. The edition itself isn't particularly worth it because the art for the most part is terrible. I don't know why they picked such awful art, only one piece is any good. 27 Dollars is a hefty price for ugly endpapers, an underwhelming cover, art that's not even good enough to be called mediocre, and a bookmark that unravels and disintegrates as you read. Buy the regular edition instead for a lot less money

Great!
This was a very unique, wonderful, heartbreaking story. I was hooked quickly and found it hard to put this down. The audio was fantastic and worth the credit. This illustrated edition is beautiful with pretty artwork in the middle and also scattered throughout the book. Well worth the $30ish I paid. Definitely recommend.

Gorgeous with minor imperfections
The book came looking a little old, there were yellow spots beginning to appear around the book, and the insert was a little black as well. Minor imperfections on the book. The insert of the illustrations were also popping out when the book is closed, which made my OCD tick a little. Just a little sad as $40 isn’t cheap! But otherwise the book is gorgeous and I love the design and feel of the book! Can’t wait to collect more :) I have yet to read it, I hope it’s as good as people say it is!
