These step bits are good for the price, but not great compared to great.I've been using a 1/2" DeWalt step-bit for minor occasional metal jobs, and have been very pleased. Recently I needed to drill some 3/4" holes through 1" plywood and after shopping for a regular 3/4" wood bit - decided to just go a step-bit for about the same price. Then cheap-skated out and bought this budget set. As is often the case with tools - you get what you pay for.This set met my needs for this minor job, and I might not of noticed the difference in quality had I not used the DeWalt step-bit side by side with the QWorks bits. When compared side by side - The DeWalt step-bit was noticeably much smoother, less tearing, and my impact driver worked much quieter.Price wise, the QWorks bits cost about 1/6th the price of the DeWalt set, and helped me finish an easy project at a low cost. After using both, if I had to do it over - I would go with DeWalt or some other reputable brand, because some day I'm going to need to cut some 3/4" holes in steel, and that is when I'll find out that I didn't save any money with the cheap bits, just delayed the pain.

This is honestly one of the best purchases I made this year I tossed the bits into my bit organizing toolbox and they have been a great addition allowing me to drill accurate holes that I can adjust the size on with a little bit extra pressure. Far more cost effective than name brands with as far as I can tell similar functionality.

USED for PLANTS- PLASTIC PROPAGATION BOX. I have not tried these bits on anything but plastic so far. So this review is only based on my experience making holes on basic, clear, plastic storage container lids. Even a 10 year old can easily make holes in plastic with it. Yes, supervised. I used these to make air holes on my propagation boxes for my plant cuttings. Since my niece is into plants, too, I took the opportunity to have her learn to use a drill. These bits were a little hard to "get started" but no harder than expected. Once the bit "caught on" after about .5mm only, it went through the plastic like butter! Best of all, the circle was smoooooth! No rough edges at all. I'd purchase again.

I used this tool to open up a 1/4 inch hole (6,,) to a 5/8 diameter using a cordless drill to drill thru 1/4 sst angle. I had never used one of these before but thought I would give it a try over a conventional 5/8 drill. A conventional 5/8 drill will have a tendency to bounce around a bit when drilling by hand, but this tool surprised me with the smaller diameters acting like a pilot as is slowly but very effective opened up the hole to the full size i needed, leaving an excellent surface finish and good size control. Too early to say how durable the tool is but the cutting edge still looks good and I am very pleased with the end result. Not bad for a vice and a cordless drill.

This is the second set I've purchased the only thing wrong is the drill operator didn't use enough cutting oil 🙂

Only used once so did not comment on Longevity…. Really liked the product but as I read in another review the hole size marked on each bit is a bit small so you will have to drill a bit bigger hole…. It blew right through the 1/4” heavy grade aluminum….

These are good for 1 use. Cut 1 hole and ruined the bit. Wasnt even thick material i was drilling.I would spend my money on some that are more durable.

I just received the step drills. They arrived on time and were appropriately packaged.I trialled them on a scrap piece of 0.5mm thick brass sheet and am very pleased with the result. Although this wasn't an overly challenging task, the step drills breezed through the sheet and left a clean and round hole. I obviously don't know how well they'll keep their sharpness but I'm pleased with my purchase.
