Shield - Waterproof Bike Seat Rain, Sun & Dust Cover

This seat cover protects my leather Brooks saddle if I’m caught out in the rain. It’s well constructed, completely waterproof, easy to store and to throw on my bike quickly.

Soon after posting the review below, I received an email from XeroCover explaining that a different model of their seat covers (the XeroCover Journey) would have been more appropriate for long distance travel because it has a drawstring that can be cinched more tightly around the seat. They offered to send me one, and I received it in a couple days. The Journey is indeed a better fit for my needs, and I applaud this company for their excellent customer service. Thank you so much.My original review:I bought the regular size cover for my hybrid bike to protect the seat for a very long road trip, and it fit well. The one I received had elastic in it, so it is just a matter of slipping it down over the seat. I was skeptical that the cover would stay on during high-speed travel; however the way my bike fits on the bike carrier allowed the XeroCover to be wedged between the seat and the carrier, thus really helping to hold it in place in the high winds. This worked well for over 1000 miles. On the way home, the elastic broke inside the XeroCover and the whole thing started flapping in the wind, held on only where it was wedged between seat and carrier, and the fabric actually shredded. I'm very disappointed - I was thrilled with this product during the first half of our trip, but it just didn't hold up. I was thinking I could take it apart and put more elastic in it, but with the holes now in the fabric, it won't be waterproof anymore. Sorry, it wasn't worth the money.

EDIT:I had contacted the company and they sent out a replacement and have been very helpful. They are genuinely interested about how I use the product and actively looking for ways to make it better. They told me they had in fact gone through some design changes and were still in the process of revising the products design again. The replacement I have has been working satisfactorily, but I still greatly prefer the previous version of the product in many areas.I don't know if the one that was replaced was defective or if it degraded quickly from being in the sun, but the replacement seems to be doing ok for now.ORIGINAL:I bought this as a replacement to one I had bought directly from the seller a few years ago. The actual product I bought 2 years ago worked well, but when I first got this one it felt like it was made from a different material, I wasn't sure if it changed or what but it felt much worse, but I just kept it. Well it's been like 6 months since I bought this and hadn't really been much rain to test it out until recently.Needless to say its completely useless. There was water trapped inside the fabric between the two layers, soaked in to the cord that holds the cover to the seat. I had to take the cover off the seat and ring it out like a wet towel to get the water out. Even then the water clung on to cover and wasn't even dry. I had to take the cover off and set it in front of a fan for hours to get it completely dry.I don't know what this thing is but it's most definitely not as advertised. I don't know if i was accidentally sent the wrong cover type or what but this is nothing like what I purchased from the actual sellers website a while back.

I changed my review as the first product I received was faulty. Upon me returning the item the seller reached out to me to inquire why I was dissatisfied. They immediately sent me a replacement stating that I might have received a faulty item. The new item they sent me is great! It is so easy to use, very well built and even comes with a convenient bag to stow the cover when you don't need it. I believe this item will last me a long long time and makes it easy to always have a dry saddle to ride on. Previously I used either a plastic bag or an elastic saddle cover. The plastic in the elastic cover finally started to peel and I am always left with product debris on saddle and pants. This cover will not have this problem as the material is quite different. It is well built and the carrying bag makes it extra convenient.Review of defective item:This seat cover is very sturdy, well made and has a double layer of material, but even after 5 min of trying I could not figure out how to put this cover on my saddle. It is just oddly shaped and too cumbersome. Maybe someone with a sleeker saddle finds the double layer great, but for me to cover my bulky saddle on my commuter bike after the rain it seems to much hassle to be practical.

I like to ride my bike to a path where I run for a few miles. I did not like the idea of getting back on my cloth-upholstered bike saddle with a sweaty rear end, only to have the saddle absorb the sweat and get nasty over time. So I got this cover to protect the saddle. It is perfect for that--providing a sweat-proof barrier without adding uncomfortable or unsightly bulk. Note: it's not really cushioned, and it's not cheap vinyl. It seems to be a well made product and I'll buy another if/when it wears out.

all good. maybe a little small for the standard seat. Too small for one of those big oversized bike seats. Keeps the seat dry when it's raining though. good deal

This fits my standard size B17 Brooks saddle. I put the cover on, drove in the rain with it on my bike rack for 30 minutes, then went on a 1 hour ride (gravel/dirt roads in the rain too). I left the cover on during my ride and honestly didn't notice it was even on when riding. After a 1 hour ride in the rain my leather saddle was bone dry. I took a picture as soon as I got home and attached it to this review. I did stuff 3 plastic grocery bags in the rails under the saddle to be safe. I'd highly recommend. I can't speak to its durability because I haven't used it much. It appears to be good quality material....time will tell.
