Excellent and better than expected
I was a bit nervous about this product since it was not one of the more popular options on Amazon. However I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and freshness of the black beans. I made a batch of homemade black bean sauce with them and WOW, did it turn out super well. I will definitely purchase these again.

A Tasty Addition to My Hotpot Experiences!
the packaging was straightforward and functional. Nothing overly fancy, but it did a good job in keeping the beans fresh. When I opened the packet, I was greeted with a distinct, earthy aroma characteristic of fermented beans. If you're new to this ingredient, the smell might be a bit strong at first, but it's an integral part of its charm. The texture of the beans was exactly what I hoped for - slightly mushy but with enough firmness to add a nice bite to my dishes. I primarily used these black beans in my hotpot, and they added a depth of flavor that was simply delightful. The salty, slightly tangy taste of the beans complemented the spiciness of the broth beautifully. It's like they have this unique ability to enhance the overall flavor profile without overpowering the other ingredients. One thing to note for new users is that a little goes a long way with these beans. They're quite potent, so I recommend starting with a small amount and adjusting to your taste. I also tried using them in a stir-fry and as a marinade for some chicken, and the results were equally satisfying. In terms of price, I found the Apexy Fermented Black Beans to be reasonably priced, especially considering the quantity and quality. It's a great value for anyone looking to add a traditional, umami-rich element to their dishes.

Good value
This was a good value. It’s worth noting that these beans have VERY high sodium due to fermentation process. They are already cooked so you can add to dishes easily.

Fresher but less flavourful
I'm used to a very old brand of dried beans that seem much more dehydrated than these, but have a great deal more flavour—admittedly, that brand has added ginger, which may be part of the difference. These, on the other hand, seem fresher, though I think that a questionable virtue in a preserved, fermented, product.

Almost Expired
I received the fermented black beans today and when I looked at the expiration date, it is still within the time but it expires on 1/18/26, so almost expired. So while I can use it for a few days, I know I wont be able to use it all before it expires.
