Q: Can I use an 18v battery to power it and the motor I choose

18 volts would be a little high the receiver only takes up to 7.4 max however if you couple to a relay module this in effect to use 240 volts on the relay being triggered by the lower voltage from the receiver. The main thing is the relay has to be have three inputs (like on a servo) neg /positive and trigger "Normally orange) you can get them on Amazon just check the specks.
