It actually helps, plus has some great skin ingredients
I hadn't heard of Phenology before this, and to be honest, the first time I saw the name, I misread it as “Phrenology,” which is the Victorian pseudoscience of reading the bumps on your head to reveal your personality. Thankfully, Phenology making use of actual science in their cooling spray! Here are some things to know about this spray:I was excited to see Biphenyl azepanyl methanone (BEL-EVEN) listed, as it’s a fairly new ingredient to beauty products. It’s been shown to successfully limit the release of cortisol (yes the stress hormone) in skin. When you’re stressed (and lord knows we all are), excess cortisol produced can cause wrinkles and dull skin. BEL-EVEN kicks that, and also delivers moisture (and purportedly elasticity) to skin. That goes hand-in-hand with Propandiol, which is a good alternative to propylene glycol, which can cause irritation and even dermatitis. Propandiol, on the other hand, plays well with pretty much every ingredient and skin type, pulling and locking moisture in as a humectant, and helping shed dead skin cells.Butylene Glycol is a corn-derived commonly used emollient, and it also helps create a barrier against moisture loss from skin. It’s also used as a product preservative, since it may also have antimicrobial effects.Menthoxpropandiol is the star ingredient here, since it’s commonly used as a skin cooling agent. You can feel a hint of that at work when you spray. It's not as dramatic as its cousin, menthol, but then, your skin wouldn't be a fan of you slapping menthol on with every hot flash.I think most of us know about hyaluronic acid and its many skin benefits. My experience with this spray was a positive one: It has no noticeable fragrance, which I appreciate. I’m not sure why they list their normal little spray bottle as an “atomizer.” If you hold the bottle away from your face a bit, the mist is fine, but too close and it’s a splat of product.I flush from a veritable smorgasbord of different conditions and medication side effects (also, being a middle-aged lady!), and I’ve noticed that this really does shorten the amount of time I spend feeling like my face may melt off from the heat, a la Raiders of the Lost Ark. I don’t know that it’s made a huge difference with reducing redness, but it definitely reduces discomfort and leaves my skin looking plumped and moisturized - like after I use a Korean beauty mask. Thumbs up!

It really works
This Phenology Menopause Cooling Mist Spray really works for me. Which is pretty exciting considering the number of things I've tried that didn't work. You can actually feel the cooling effect build over the few minutes after spraying. The scent is very light and doesn't linger, so that's a plus. Scent or no scent, this stuff is effective. The price seems expensive, but I for one believe it to be quite reasonable for how well it works. And It only takes a spray or two to start cooling. It's sure better than standing in front of the freezer with the door open - yeah, I've done that too. This is something I'll be making sure to keep on hand as long as these infuriating hot flashes hang around.

Doesn’t Work-Had Adverse Reaction
I got this to try around the same time as the rollerball from the same brand and for the same purpose. That had a little cooling effect. This does not have any at all. And it also made the back of my neck where I sprayed it itch several for a week after use and get some red bumps. The rollerball didn’t do that. Overall I’d not use this again or recommend it especially at the high price.

Does Not Work for Me
I do not have menopausal hot flashes but my face does get naturally hot sometimes when drinking wine and when working out (no sweat glands in my face so I get very overheated). I have applied this spray during both of these situations hoping for some relief but felt zero change. I even tried applying to one half of my face just to see if I could tell any difference between sides, but there was none. I also applied it last night before going for an outdoor walk. It was about 60 degrees out, I was expecting my face to feel extra cool when the air hit it but, nope.Giving two stars because it is gentle and fragrance free.

I’m kind of loving this
As a 50 year old woman starting menopause I’m experiencing hot flashes more and more. I also have hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating), so I figured I’d give this a shot. So far, it’s been really helpful! I used it the other day during a heat flash and it helped cool me down and kept me cool for a while afterwards. Today, I just finished taking my weekly tap class and was fairly sweaty and hot. So I sprayed a few sprays of this on my face and 45 mins later, I’m still feeling cool. The best way for me to describe the cooling effect is sort of like the feeling in your mouth after eating a peppermint candy. It’s cooling but not overwhelming. The only drawback that I’ve found so far is that it leaves your skin a little tacky to the touch after spraying it on, but it wasn’t visibly noticeable. I personally will deal with a little tackiness over being sweaty and hot. I used some powder over it later in the day and it was totally fine. Depending on how much you spray on your face, it may drip a little but you can just dab that away. It’s also a great size to keep in your purse or pocket! *Water bottle in picture for scale.
