Q: Are these considered nursing pads? Or are these different? First time mom here

No these are gel cooling pad for when or if your nipples get cracked / theyvreally help if they are so sore and that your nursing bras irritate them. They were a life savor for me!! They are not going to absorb anything though - they are more for pain relief.

Q: How long a new mom would need smoothies? I need to ship internationally so I want to buy multiple boxes in one shipping.

Assuming that baby has a good latch, i would say no longer than 2 weeks. I just had my son 3 weeks ago and after 10 days i didn't need them anymore. I would say 3 boxes would be good.

Q: Why do you need to wash off your boob prior to breastfeeding or pumping?

I never did that step. There is no residue whatsoever and my baby never noticed. It's probably just a general note for any breastfeeding mama. These are a life saver though!
