Recertified 12TB Hard Drive in NAS RAID10 Setup
I was initially skeptical about using a recertified 12TB hard drive in my NAS, but after testing in a RAID10 configuration, I’m pleasantly surprised by its performance.Cost Savings: Compared to new drives, the price was significantly lower, making it a budget-friendly option for high-capacity storage.Performance: Speeds are on par with new drives—no noticeable bottlenecks in read/write operations. Running in RAID10, I’m getting a good balance of speed and redundancy.Low Power Consumption & Noise: The drive runs quietly and doesn’t generate excessive heat, which is essential for 24/7 NAS operation. For NAS users looking for an affordable way to expand storage, a recertified 12TB drive is a solid option—So far, it’s performing well in my RAID10 setup, but I’d still recommend having a backup strategy in place just in case.Would I buy another? Yes, but only for non-critical data or in a redundant RAID array.

Storage, affordable and speed
Great, easy to install. I have loads of space now for all my media projects.

This drive works GREAT!
This hard drive works well and was a good value for the money. I had no problem hooking it up to my computer. I really don't hear the drive noise very much after startup. I would definitely recommend this drive to anyone who needed mass storage for movies or even games.

Low hours on drives, appear to be in excellent working order; good choice for DIY NAS.
I bought four of these drives. The power-on time for the drives when I got them was (approx) 390h, 212h, 135h, and 2h. However, power on time isn't the full story. These drives collect quite a bit of history and are tunable. The "head flying time" is the actual time the spindle spent running. That time was 140h, 23h, 14h, and 40 minutes, respectively. One of these drives has seen some use, but the others are nearly new. For comparison, I have a couple of Hitachi drives from an older computer with over 18,000h of power-on time. Those drives don't collect spindle time so I can't tell how many hours the discs were actually spinning, but they still work fine.If you're using Linux you can install the `smartctl` package and use it to get detailed drive stats. If you're running a NAS, it probably gets those stats for you. If you're using Windows.... you poor schmuck, WHY?Essentially, I got 4 refurbished drives for the price of 3 new drives. They've about 40h of run time on them now, and they're working well. These drives require good cooling. If you're building a NAS, be sure you have plenty of ventilation. A single fan isn't adequate for a rack of four of these; I had to add another fan to keep drive temps under 35C. When the drives are quiescent (power on, spindle off) they are only 1-2C above ambient temp. In operation they heat up rapidly, and that's when you need a lot of airflow. As for noise, they're on the loud side, and make plenty of thumping noises as the heads move around. These drives are tunable, and you can set a lower "acoustic signature," which I assume reduces the RPM and possibly some of the head banging that goes on. I haven't tried it because I have no need, but the option is available. Again, you'll need something like smartctl to make changes. Don't go wild with changes; some changes are dangerous and have the potential to create a brick. Don't change anything unless you know (for certain) what you're doing. The acoustic setting is safe to use. These drives have two tapped mounting holes on each side instead of the usual three. Be sure that the drive cage is long enough.

10/10 will buy again!
Best of the best!Speeds are as advertised, much quieter than other drivers, size is as advertised, works great and the quality is amazing for recertified!Edit: I'm coming back to say that the drives that I received must be brand new, because they are running flawlessly. I wanted to add that I purchased my drives from ServerPartDeals (Formerly Tech on Tech) and I trust them with my life! Also, come to find out, Linus from LinusTechTips uses ServerPartDeals for their refurbished and recertified drives! They made a video about them as well. They're an amazing company and very trustworthy! Thanks for the perfect drives!

Failed after 4 months of light use.
Drive failed after 4 months. It was not a main boot drive. I was only using it for bulk storage of files I do not access often. One day my pc stopped booting and the drive was making terrible noises. Removing the drive fixed my pc and allowed it to boot. I put the drive in an external drive enclosure to discover the drive is not even recognized and all my files are gone.

Solid drive
So far no issues with it. I was skeptical with it being refurbished but works great.

Good drive, great price.
So far so good. I ran an extended self-test out of the box and it came back perfect. I've been running it for about a week, so it's still early to talk about reliability, but so far it's pretty quiet and it's quick enough for me. Great price for a lot of storage.
