Every weekday I take my extremely energetic Aussie, Maverick, for trail runs off leash, but there are always situations where I need to leash him temporarily. So I would have to bring a leash and carry it while I run. I would either sling it over my shoulders or bunch it up and just hold it in my hand. I hate it, it's annoying. I was always trying to come up with creative ways to carry it with me comfortably, but never found a good one. The Release and Run collar has fixed that! I just can't praise it enough! I would pay $100 for this collar. To me, it's as necessary as a good pair of running shoes. It shipped quickly and I got it yesterday. I took it out with me this morning (saturdays are always extra crowded on the trails, so i utilized this collar even more than I would normally). There were a couple situations in which it was extra useful;-I always leash my dog when i see a biker coming caus they could be seriously injured if my dog decides to suddenly change his position in front of them, so I grabbed the handle and bam, he was leashed, didn't even break a stride, then, a child biker swerved in front of us, and instead of clothes-lining the kid, i just let go, and the leash retracted perfectly, then i grabbed the handle again immediately after the kid passed us. Brilliant!-So, normally I just have to cope with it if my dog decides to run through a mud puddle because stopping him and then attaching the leash to direct him around it, or stopping and grabbing his collar to direct him around it interrupts my run and and messes up my running time goals. Now i just grab the handle on the collar and direct him around the puddles without breaking stride!-Further down our run, a large doe was standing just off the trail, Maverick is only 2 years old and has a very strong herding instinct so I don't trust him around wildlife, again, didn't have to stop and leash him, just grabbed the handle of the collar and kept running. The doe startled and took off, I could tell that Maverick, was about to take a little jaunt after him, but knowing he was leashed he stopped just short of pulling on it.-multiple other times i used it as we were passing by other runners with dogs and trail walkers.I finished my run today in record time despite it being extremely crowded on the trails! Normally crowds kill my time because of having to constantly stop and leash my dog, and I didn't even have to carry a leash with me! I could not be happier! I used it multiple times and it retracted perfectly with every release!If you run with your dog of leash, I highly recommend this!!! The leash length is only 4ft, so its prolly not that great for leashed walks around the neighborhood, but for runs -perfect!!

Honestly this is one of the best things I have ever bought , I can’t express enough how I love this collar / leash , it is sturdy but comfortable for my dogs . I would never leash my dogs when walking in the woods in the poconos of pa . I have a black lab that loves to go in the water and a rotty/German shepherd also loves to cool off in the water , now we started walking locally near home on wooded trails near water . The leash is perfect , I leave them run and play and when we come across other people I grab their retractable leashes wait till people and other dogs pass and let their leashes go , I ordered 2 of the bright orange ones , also a great color during hunting seasons . I tell everyone I see on the trail with pet about the rad dog collars , Just the sight of the collars when I bring them out of my backpack my dogs get really excited , these collars have definitely made my life easier

I was a little daunted by the price of this leash, but it seems sturdy and well-made. It works exactly as advertised: for brief periods of having to control your dog on leash while on an off-leash adventure. I would not want to use it for extended periods of on leash walking; it is much too short. I also wouldn’t want to try and control a large, exuberant, young dog with this leash. But for my mostly well-behaved 8 year old lab on our daily trail walks, it’s perfect for those times when we run into someone who, for whatever reason, isn’t comfortable with the fact that my dog isn’t on a leash. Bingo, instant leash. Plus I don’t have to carry it, my dog gets to do that.

my fiance and i purchased these collars for our dogs! we love them! they're great for taking the dogs for walks/runs and just letting them go. they are very easy to get a hold of again, and no leash to carry around when they are running off on their own! they fully retract very quickly!***update - we still LOVE these collars! i have to buy a new one... its not a manufacturing issues. my dog chewed up the handle when i left it on the ground the other day:(. $40 is a lot to spend for a collar, but its so worth it! i will never buy a regular collar again! one day we were on a walk with out dogs, and a lady saw the collars and asked where we got them. a few months later we ran into the same lady, and her dog was wearing a rad dog collar!You HAVE to try out these collars ! you wont be sorry!

I put off buying this for months due to the price, but I'm so glad I finally got it! It has revolutionized my trail running and biking with my pup. No more having to carry a leash when you're trying to run or bike. It's quicker, and hence safer, to secure him by just grabbing his handle/leash than having to fumble around with his collar and then clip on the leash when we come up to another person/dog or a road. Then when you're done you just let go. My only tiny complaint is I wish the grab loop/handle tucked back in all the way when letting go. A tiny bit sticks out that requires manually putting back in if you're worried about it. The color is nice and bright and adds to his visibility. The size large fit my 65 lb mutt perfectly. I was worried about the thin cord holding up with him when he pulls but so far so good! Thanks for a great product that's made our outdoor time together much more enjoyable!

Love the idea/concept of this leash and as long as it was working it was great After two months the leash became frayed and would no longer retract. The companies customer service was excellent and they replaced it at no charge. After another couple of months we are having the same issue. Although I am sure they would replace it again, we are not going to bother. Learned our lesson. Too bad because we LOVE the idea!!
