Good 12v multitool
After a few days of use the product so far is 5/5. If you are wanting a solid multi tool and already have Bosch 12v batteries this is a good option. (Batteries are not included with this item). However, in my case while it arrived in a box that looked new, the multitool itself appeared lightly dirty, as if it had been used once and returned or refurbished and resold. It is also possible dirt somehow got into the packaging or the production floor was slightly dirtier… just odd. It’s a tool so it was going to get dirty anyways, but if it is not new it should be labeled as such. Overall, I’d recommend this multi tool to someone that wants a solid, good value lightweight tool that runs on the 12v battery family. 18v would last longer and has more power but this should be good enough for the majority of DIYers or for construction not overly reliant on this specific tool.

Uses the Starlock system blades.
Like all Multi tools it's noisy but it cuts just fine. The battery condition gauge is a nice touch. Starlock blades have a deep recessed mounting hub so if, like me you already have a sizable collection of the most common blades you'll need to spend some more money. Another thing is it still uses a hex wrench, has no lever quick release. Not a deal breaker but...

Cordless Chisel Power in a Small Starlock Package
When it comes to oscillating multi-tools, no company seems to do it better than Bosch. This tool was purchased as a compliment to the Bosch GOP18V-28N for mostly light-duty jobs that require a more precise degree of control that is difficult to achieve with the larger, heavier 18V version. It's not only appreciably smaller, but weighs around 2 lb (w/ battery), or about half that of the Bosch 18V brushless multi-tool. And this tool does not disappoint with its smooth operation; vibrations (at the grip) are practically non-existent even at the highest speed setting. While there are many 12V multi-tools available from other manufacturers, this is the only one that currently offers a brushless motor, so output power and battery life should be somewhat better than competing models. Although the blade change process is not tool-less like it's larger 18V cousins, it's relatively quick since a built-in magnet holds the attachment in position while threading the screw and tightening with the furnished wrench. Bosch probably opted to use a simple fastening screw due to size and weight considerations, instead of the blade change lever found on their other Starlock models. The only downside here is that there is no onboard storage for the hex key. My only complaint is that Bosch does not offer this tool as a complete kit with batteries and charger as it does for its other 12V tools, such as drills and impact drivers. Highly recommended. especially for light-duty tasks or situations where precise blade control is important.

Starlock tool
Already got a Bosch 12v drill and recipricating saw. Not for professional use or heavy home use, but for normal household chores, these work great. Wanted an oscillating tool to find out why everyone like these things and wanted to stay in the Bosck 12v family so I could use the same batteries. Like the other tools, this is not meant for heavy duty use, but is great for light duties. Downside is that the tool uses Starlock accessories. I don’t have an existing stash of accessories, but the Starlock accessories do seem limited in choice and more expensive. QC could have been better…battery light on the tool goes out after a few seconds and overall tool seemed “dirty” upon arrival - not enough to classify as used, but maybe refurbished.. This incarnation of the tool is getting long in the tooth. Time for Bosch to make version 2.

Great utility
Works great, why did I wait this long to get one? You may have trouble finding attachments, not the most common system.

Comes with lots of compromises
I gave this an overall 3 star rating, but would give it 4 stars for those falling into a very specific category, such as myself, but only 2 stars for the general buying public. I just received this and am very happy with unit so far, but it comes with lots of compromises that potential buyers should be aware of. I would only recommend it for people already invested the the Bosch 12 volt system. I knew all of this before I ordered it, so there were no surprises for me. I already have the Bosch 12 volt drill and driver and love both for their small size and light weight (senior citizen with smaller hands), so this seemed a good fit for me. I have 4 of the 12 volt batteries, so I didn't need any more and the bare tool was attractively priced. I have an older Bosch corded oscillating tool but it is a little heavy and cumbersome for me to use. This one is smaller, lighter and cordless. It should have plenty of power for shorter jobs. Now the compromises. It doesn't have a quick release blade holder that many other cordless units have which is a real bonus for heavy users. It use proprietary blades which are about 50-100% more expensive than standard blades. Costs for these blades could be an issue for heavy users. The blades can only be mounted one way (which allows for flush cuts) whereas other units allow them to be flipped. Finally a 12 volt system isn't likely to provide the power that an 18-20 volt system does. So for those already invested in the Bosch 12 volt system who want a smaller, lighter cordless oscillating tool, this is a good purchase. For those starting from scratch with cordless tools or who want a heavy duty unit it would be best to look elsewhere. Bosch makes good tools and I anticipate this will perform well. If not, I will do a follow-up report.
