kuretake knocks it out of the park again with this set. the colors feel very authentic to the art nouveau aesthetic. the paint formula is consistently creamy, and it melts instantly with water. no need to scrub at the paint to pick up the pigments – a light dab with a damp brush is more than adequate. the colors are semi-opaque. while i wouldn’t consider them to be a true gouache, they are definitely more opaque than western watercolors. i prefer japanese watercolors due to their higher opacity – i feel that this allows for greater creative flexibility when working with the paint. my only complaint is that some of the beige tones are similar. i would have liked to see a deep plum purple tone instead of some unnecessarily similar beiges. regardless, the palette feels balanced within the context of its derivative source, the art nouveua movement. art nouveau heavily emphasizes peaches, beiges, tans, and other ashen earthy tones. the inclusion of green-grey and shadow green are very accurate of art nouveau, as is the pop of bright vermillion. a phenomenal watercolor paint set for both watercolor artists and fans of the art nouveau style.

This is my second set of Kuretake, as I also have their 48 set. I have to say that the colors in this set (Art Nuevo) are my favorite out of the two sets as these colors are beautiful. I recently discovered Kuretake (who knew they made my favorite glitter pen!), and I'm impressed with the quality of their paints as well as the generous size of the individual pans. Not some 1/2 pan, I can really get my 12 round into the pan and get a good amount of paint. While there's no swatch card, they do have a place on the inside of the lid to swatch the colors, but I prefer to swatch on a piece of paper that's similar to what I'll be using to do my watercolors, to see the true color/effect of them. I'm not a professional, just an amateur that is enjoying exploring watercolors, so whether they're granular enough, is beyond my knowledge base as present. I just know they're a good value for the money and the colors are vibrant and enjoyable to use.

I ordered the art nouveau 24-pan palette several days ago and am back today to order the 48-pan set. These paints are gorgeous and luxurious. They are highly pigmented and go on more opaque that traditional American watercolors. They work great for painting detailed pictures and adding color to drawings. I don’t think they’re the best for mixing or for interesting wet on wet effects. I didn’t find the art moves I colors to be too amenable to mixing. Although the colors are gorgeous, this set doesn’t contain basic primaries for mixing. The convenience colors are gorgeous and the paints are thick, creamy, and opaque. But if you’re looking for translucence and layering and the ability to mix any color, you probably want to pass on the art nouveau set.

Love colors Quality paint

First, I just want to say that I love these watercolors! I have quite the assortment of other brands and I find the quality of these paints are among the best that I have ever used. The pigments are pure and the coverage is smooth and beautiful, the pan size is great for long lasting usage and the packaging is compact and appears that the durability will withstand use. The only complaint or recommendation that I have would be, that the company would use more of a watercolor paper on the inside of the lid where they provide space for swatches. Overall, I highly recommend these watercolors!

The colors are great and sit in much larger pans than I expected. The paints are more opaque than most water colors in the US and remind me of a hybrid between gouache and watercolor with thier opacity. I would buy more colors and I love the brand’s color story. While i can mix my own I found these inspiring to work with.

The packaging is beautiful and functional. The pans are extra large and are labeled on the bottom and in the box. The swatch card is in the lid. Everything is thoughtful and convenient. The paints themselves are vibrant and saturated, just lovely to work with. Highly, highly recommend Kuretake watercolor paints.

Mi piacciono sia gli acquerelli che le gouache e direi che questi colori Kuretake sono una via di mezzo ed hanno una loro propria area di utilizzo assolutamente interessante. Perfetti, ad esempio, per illustrazioni. Avevo già il set da 48 colori e questo set con i colori Art Nouveau non mi ha delusa: colori bellissimi ad un prezzo abbordabile. L'unico problema è che è molto difficile trovare i singoli colori una volta esauriti. Il bianco, ad esempio, si consuma in fretta con alcuni tipi di illustrazione e su Amazon il singolo godet è reperibile solo ad un costo esagerato, intorno ai 27 euro. Degli altri colori non c'è traccia. Io ne ho trovati alcuni online su Mondo Artista (Gestecker) a circa 4 euro l'uno.

I’ve bought this like 10x it’s the best watercolour palette. Beautiful creamy colours that can be thinned or used thick like gouache. Very pigmented, and vibrant they bleed beautifully into each other or blend well depending on how you use them. Great for beginners. I bought a meeden palette and squished them into those so they are more transportable.
