I'm in love.
My review can be summed up in one sentence: My biggest complaint with this phone is that the volume buttons are not as tactile/responsive as I feel they should be. That's all there is to it. A tiny thing like that is honestly my biggest complaint about the whole phone. FYI - I upgraded from a Nexus 5. So, the Z3 - Screen is excellent, battery life is incredible, its looks... its looks! It looks almost too nice, like you don't really want to use it because of how beautiful it is. The back is slippery, yes, but that's what you get with a glass back. Either get yourself a case (try to get one which doesn't diminish the phone's appearance too much!) or just be extra careful. I also purchase a 128GB micro SD and tempered glass protectors for both the front and back glass. Adds a bit more expense, but for the added protection against permanent screen scratches, I'm happy to pay it. Even in late 2015, this is still a very solid buy, especially considering the price. I was lucky and got this for ยฃ250 from Amazon Warehouse Deals, in Like New condition. And it genuinely was exactly like new, except the retail box had some stickers on it, which I easily removed. The phone itself was in pristine condition, and included all accessories. Pros: - Everything about the phone is amazing except for the very minor cons below. Cons: - Volume buttons not as tactile/responsive as I would like. - Slippery to hold. Be extra careful or get yourself a case if you don't mind using one (I'm not a fan of them but I have ordered a minimalist one). - Sony bloat-ware was there at first, but the majority of it is very easy to remove, simply uninstall it. Anything I couldn't uninstall (2 or 3 apps) I just put in a folder at the end of my apps list. Easily fixed! - So nice-looking that I was afraid to use it at first, still am very careful when using it (I know this isn't really a con, but it just shows how minor my complaints with this phone really are!). I guess it's fairly deceiving with such a short pros list and a long cons list - so if you're just skimming and read this last paragraph, know this - this phone is amazing. The cons are extremely minor, everything else about the phone is fantastic. And yes, as you can tell, I'm in love with this phone.

The BEST Android device EVER MADE!
What more could you want from a phone? - It's remarkably light - It responds INSTANTLY, even with power-saving "STAMINA" mode enabled - It has the power to run anything on the Android market - The internal speakers have fantastic sound quality, considering that they are flat drivers inside a very slim housing - The screen is large enough to enjoy movies on, and for those of us with "fat fingers" like myself - It's WATERPROOF (in fresh water only, of course)... which is good for those of us who spend most of our lives out in the rain (or "traditional British summer" as I like to call it) - Comes with screen protectors, and they provide a MATT finish instead of gloss which means... - ... The display is exceptionally clear, even in strong sunlight! My Galaxy S3 was NEVER that easy to see in daylight! - The magnetic dock (purchased separately) makes it super easy to sit on the bedside table at night, while charging. - Magnetic Charger Cable works UNDER WATER. I've not found a use for that myself, but it's impressive to think about just the same. - The glass on the front and rear (which, obviously, COULD break if you were to throw your phone around) is highly scratch resistant, and surprisingly considering how thin it is. - The CaseMate case for this handset is brilliant! It's very similar to Otterbox offerings for other devices, and doesn't stop you from accessing the USB OR using the charging dock. - Signal reception is EXTREMELY GOOD! I actually get mobile reception in places I've NEVER received it before (and I live in an ultra-rural environment, where cell towers are few and far between). - The rear camera is mind-blowing... 20.7mpix, and I've found it produces very good pictures even in lowlight conditions. I have owned a LOT of Android devices (phones and tablets). By far and away, the Xperia Z3 is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE! WHY I DIDN'T BUY THE Z3+ ------------------------------------------- The Z3+ is the "bigger brother" of the Z3, but has a CRUCIAL design flaw. Because they've crammed an additional quad-core processor inside the Z3+ (which, honestly, is NOT necessary as far as I'm concerned), it overheats horrifically, and consumes a TON of power. The Z3 on the other hand does not get hot (at least, not so much so that you're going to be concerned about it). The Z3 has exceptional battery runtime. I've yet to find myself getting even as low as 60% within a day, and I use my phone excessively (admittedly, mostly for playing music while I work and travel). A colleague of mine has the Z3+, and his needs recharging constantly (would hit < 15% in 8 hours). So, don't be tempted by the Z3+ and its bold claims of "more power". The Z3 is the superior device, with the more solid design and all the performance you could need in this day and age (and more besides, I'll wager). I'M NEVER GOING BACK TO SAMSUNG!

so it was an ideal choice for her to maximize the enjoyment from her handset
I purchased this phone as a replacement for my wife's Nexus 4 - she loves photography and music, so it was an ideal choice for her to maximize the enjoyment from her handset. We ordered the unit, without contract from Xtra Cubby who have a storefront here on Amazon. The handset was delivered promptly a couple of days later, and initially she was delighted with the quality of the phone, the camera, headphones and accessories. However, problems arose... Trying to connect to her network provider (giffgaff) was shaky to say the least. She was lucky to get 1 out of 5 bars worth of signal and this would normally deplete to a red 'x' and no signal for long periods of time. We thought this odd as she had been on giffgaff with the Nexus 4 and had experienced no issues with it. Our suspicions were further aroused when our daughter, also on the same network proudly stated that her phone (galaxy s3) was working perfectly and had full signal... alarm bells at this point started to ring... Still, foolishly, we blamed the sim and my wife decided to change network onto Sainsburys which runs off the vodafone network. The sim duly arrived, but the problem persisted, if not further deteriorating. The bouts of 'no signal' lasted for hours without a single sign of a network. We then repeated the process with an Orange nano sim that a friend had in their iPhone 6 only to again have the same issue. At this point we decided to return the handset to Amazon. To be fair, the refund was handled quickly and without incident, but I can't help but feel that either the handset was faulty or it simply wasn't set up to run in this country properly in the first place. Either way, it ended up in an exercise in futility for all parties. We decided to go for an S5 instead, but after very thorough research and reading ALOT of reviews of these 3rd party sellers on Amazon we decided to avoid the lot of them as people had encountered issues with all of them. We ended up buying from an independent seller on eBay and have received a great phone at a great price, with a 2 year warranty and no issues... I guess there are some lessons to be learnt here, and being careful of these Z3's and 3rd party sellers is one of them. Only buy from sellers sourcing UK stock - if your in the UK, even if it means paying a little more. The benefits are there for all to see...

Highly recommendable!
Upgraded from an S3 and this phone is very nice, it handles everything quickly and has some amazing features. It's a shame so many people overlook Sony because they have created a great smartphone here that does so much right. Pros: - Smooth performance - Battery life - SD card expansion - Build quality and aesthetics - Camera - Double tap to wake - Small apps - Dedicated camera button - Water proof - PS4 remote play Cons: - Slippery back - Flap over USB - Speakers are disappointing Conclusion It's a great phone that looks and performs like a flagship smartphone should. It doesn't sacrifice anything whilst other companies like Samsung keep dropping features. It has a great camera that doesn't protrude out the back and a large battery with a slim body. It's also a relief Sony are willing to keep the SD card slot allowing you to have a phone with memory over 140GB without sacrificing design. The glass panelling on that back has to be my largest complaint because I constantly worry it'll scratch and it often slides over most surfaces, it struggles to stay still on almost every surface. It has even flown out my trouser pocket whist driving along. Of course you can use a case but many don't fit the charging dock and then you are required to use to flap to charge, I can't decide which is more annoying. The Z3 has everything I wanted in a smart phone and it's a relief Sony aren't just following every other smart phone manufacturer. They are keeping the best features from the older generations of android phones and the best of the newer ones.

Some improvements to my old Z2. Hope this one lasts... Update: yes 9m on and all good. Update: had it for 15m and still fine.
My new Sony Z3 phone arrived today. Bought it after my Z2 had to go back to Amazon after it completely died on me after 4 months. Fortunately Amazon is giving a refund for it. First impressions. Feels more ergonomic than the Z2 and a bit lighter. Hoping the new flaps design will stay closed better - they look more promising. UPDATE: Been using for a few months now and the flaps and edges of phone are a big improvement over the Z2... I am much more confident of taking the phone near water than I was with the older version. Thankfully my Z2 magentic charging dock and sony z2 phone case still fit with the new Z3. I am alittle ddisappointed that at ยฃ500 the Z3 does not come with the NC31 noise cancelling earphones, whereas the Z2 did. That is another ยฃ20 cost I hadn't bargained for, as I like the noise cancellation feature on my train journeys. Shame I posted the old NC31 headphones back with the faulty Z2. You can see my Z2 review for a lot of the features such as sound, camera and video that I found great on the old Z2 and will be just as good here. I understand the screen is brighter now, so will add a further post once I have considered how noticeable such enhancements. Given the new phone uses a nano sim, as opposed to the micro sim in the Z2, it will take a few days until I get the new sized sim and start using it as an actual phone! 1st update: Got the nano sim today. Just needed to pop into Vodafone store and they replaced it straight away. Had to later take the sim out and reinsert it though for things to work. Used the phone today on hr long trip to London. Must say that the screen is fantastic! Whereas I used to struggle to view things when sun shining through the window, the bright screen coupled with matt screen protector means practically no reflection and great to use. Update: Had phone about 9m now. Still really liking it. Great for skygo, netflix and Web browsing, and yes, as a phone. Practised with the camera settings while on holiday this summer, and pleased with the manual setting, as it is possible to adjust the extent of exposure.

Best honest review over 1 year after using it
Best review you can have from this phone.. I purchased it nearly two years ago... as I needed something light to carry with good charging and great camera for my 1 and half year travel around the globe... I was 50/50 as I had an iPhone.. to tell you the truth I was not disappointed!! The phone battery life was excellent after I had a 128gb sad card in it and was taking over 1500 pitcures every 2 days this was perfect.. the quality of the camera and colour and sharpness was very clear. Given the water resistant I dived in straight in the sea when I went scuba for about 4-5 meters deep and it's still worked fine.. I've been through a few cyclones and still was making calls.. I've dropped it over 500 times and it still worked. Believe me when I say this phone has been through hell and back and I'm still using it after been back from my trip!!! Always have been an Xperia fan from X1.. as I have been away in the rural and back to civilisation now I'm looking forward to see what the have next available.. this one is so broken on the body as it has been battered around but no crack screen only thing that went off is the speakers don't play as loud as before but still works.. no one can tell me otherwise with this phone as it's been places a lot of people will never visit or stay for one night but this phone lasted from -10 to a peeping tropical +35 degrees.. in the end I would say definitely recommend as I was not let down

Fantastic phone. Poor seller.
Can't fault the phone. Everything as described, beautiful screen, razor sharp processor, great camera. Definitely recommend the phone. Also make sure you buy a case of some sort for this phone as the naked phone can be hard to grip/hold and the glass exterior and screen can be fragile causing fracture if dropped even lightly. Would not recommend this seller however. Initial handset sent to me worked fine, however the back casing of the phone was partially detached from the outside frame, and a small area of the screen display was defective. Not the seller's fault necessarily. Emailed the seller, got a replacement sent out. However, the replacement handset sent to me turned out to be an Xperia z3 prototype model, not meant for end users at all and should not have been sent. It didn't even have the CE label that all phones should have. This model runs at an earlier android version and cannot be updated. This is the seller's fault for sending this. Returned both of these handsets for a full refund and bought the phone again elsewhere. It must also be noted that the replacement handset was sent immediately and received within days of my request, and the refund was received again within days of the return of the two phones. Qudos to the seller for their quick customer service, despite their poor earlier behaviour.

King Of The Smartphone Battery Life
I got this for one main reason, battery life. And it delivers what it promises. Always get well more than a day & often close to two days on quite heavy use without any Stamina Mode settings. Configuring & leaving it on Stamina Mode (which I do now) will virtually guarantee two days & beyond without crippling the performance unlike other phones. Amazing feat on a modern smartphone. No more having to scrabble around to recharge my old Samsung for a second time during a day. The rest of the phone lives up to the bill too. Great build quality, crisp bright display, clean audio & smoothly lag free thanks to the great specs. I've not tested the waterproofing, but nice to know it's there. The camera sensor is capable of capturing some really great shots but sometimes the software lets it down unless you configure it in manual mode. That's the one area where the current iPhones can trump this in it's auto camera. But that's no more of a niggle for me, the Z3 trumps most phones for me. Oh and always nice to have expandable SD card memory, which is a dying feature unfortunately. The Z5 is out now but the only real differences I see is the further improved camera (which I hear is very good & fast) & fingerprint sensor. Not enough to upgrade from the Z3 for me, which can still hang around with the best right now.

Telefono diffettoso.
