Amazing product. Does what it says on the tin. I’ve bitten my nails for almost thirty years. I once stopped biting them for about six months but only because they were in artificial nails always. But there’s never been a time where I’ve had them exposed and not bitten. It’s been a real battle. My nails have therefore always looked bitten, unhealthy, malnourished and quite disgusting. I could only go on dates if I had fake nails. Playing pool, typing, holding a microphone or even gesturing became quite embarrassing with these nasty nails. I always felt embarrassed and disappointed in my self. I decided to try a bitter tasting polish as a fix. Best decision ever! This one tastes so Terrible and each coat lasts for days so you only have to reapply every 3-5 days depending on how often you wash. That means even though it’s a small bottle, it will last you months. I started using this on the 23rd of September 2018 and because of how bitter it tasted, the aversion started immediately. I stopped biting immediately but would initially still try to just have the fingers around my mouth but the taste is so nasty and long lasting that i actually became used to keeping my hands away from my mouth and even hated the idea of my hands going near my face. Do keep the bottle tightly sealed and clean as mine leaked and so it’s almost empty. However, even though I only used it for six weeks, I’ve now stopped biting my nails and instead obsess about having a healthy nail care regime which consists of pushing the cuticles back, painting them and applying nail hardener. My nails have grown leaps and bounds as you can see from the before and after photos (taken 6-7 weeks apart). I can now have a full manicure, paint them and flaunt my nails. They look amazing, I get complements from friends and family but they are quite weak due to extended Time spent biting for almost 30 years plus lots of gels, acrylic and stick on nails. So I am now rather focused on treating them and getting them strong and healthy. I can’t explain the joy, peace, confidence and freedom I feel from using this. It’s honestly changed my life. I have been biting my nails for so many years now. Back in 2014, I made the effort to stop biting by going to the nail salon and getting acrylic/shellac nails, that worked for about 1 year but it wasn’t cost effective and I still had the hand-to-mouth habit, so any time I would get bored, anxious, nervous, I’d still be biting my nails. Fast forward 7 years and I decided I really wanted to kick the habit, so I found this product, gave it a try and I honestly think it has changed my life for the better. The taste is horrible and lasts about 3-4 days (so beware of foods that you eat with your hands), As a result of the terrible taste, psychologically you associate nail-biting with the horrific taste (which is the point of the product). After using the product for 2 weeks, I definitely saw a huge improvement in me not biting my nails and decided to stick with it. After 6 weeks, I felt I had stopped my nail-biting habit, and I really wanted to test myself and the product too, so I stopped using Mavala and I was correct! I really did kick the habit. Now, I grow my nails for 6 weeks and then cut them really short to keep testing myself - I had also felt that because they were growing long, it felt weird to bite long nails, so I wouldn’t. Therefore if I could have them short and not bite my nails, that would demonstrate that the habit really has gone. It has now been 6 months since I embarked on this journey and I couldn’t be happier. My friends and family are always pointing out how lovely my nails are and how far I’ve come (as I was literally that person with terrible nails). I really hope that this is a life-long change that has happened for me. I highly recommend to those who have had problems biting their nails.

This stuff is great at preventing nail biting - it’s truly vile and the taste lingers for ages to remind you of your sins. A word of caution however - to get the potent chemicals to your tastebuds, this stuff has to be slightly water soluble even when “dry.” Water can be from saliva, or it can be the moisture in a filet of Scottish salmon that you are lovingly preparing for dinner. As the salmon can’t object to the taste (it’s a fillet), you will quickly transfer all of the polish from your nails to your meal. It goes without saying that this completely ruins the meal and you will be left eating baked beans on toast instead. Not that I have anything against beans on toast, but I wanted salmon. Here endeth the lesson…

having kept my nails short all my life through biting them,i found that i was chewing them shorter and shorter,so i decided to do something about it. having read the reviews i sent off for it and received it promptly. i excitedly read the instructions and although the instructions say apply at bedtime,i thought as the postman had made a special effort to deliver the post early that day,1.00pm,i applied it immediately. what a mistake that was! using it has involved me in incurring extra expense and forced life changing habits on me. for my evening meal that day i ate chicken using my fingers. another bad mistake! a foul numbing taste hit the roof of my mouth. i had forgotten the newly applied mavala to my fingers. some time later i had again forgotten about the mavala and attempted to extract the bits of chicken from between the ample gaps in my teeth using a combination of my tongue and finger. again i was immediately reminded what was on my fingers! thats where the additional expense comes in. i had to purchase some cocktail sticks from the local supermarket to use as toothpicks,as i was mortified at the thought of putting my fingers in my mouth again. my favourite method of eating yogurt is by dipping my forefinger in the pot and sucking the yogurt off my finger. that has had to change and whilst using mavala i have had to resort to using a spoon like the rest of humanity. i watched a dvd the other evening with my 5 year old grandson sat on my knee cuddled into me. i was eating chips from the takeaway using my fingers. i popped a chip into his mouth and immediately after swallowing it he screwed his face up in disgust and said indignantly "granddad,i have a disgusting taste in my mouth,and it wont go away!" a quick drink returned him to normality,and a plus point of the incident was that i didnt have to share any more chips with him as he thought they were the source of the taste. eating peanuts became a work of art as i had to make sure the peanuts entered my mouth without my fingers touching my lips,and sucking the flavour off my fingers became a definite no no. i am going to recommend mavala to my dentist. he doesnt bite his nails but i am sure it would be cheaper to give his patients a squirt of mavala into their mouth instead of anaestetic. i am not saying it would numb the pain but it would certainly occupy their minds. i have given the mavala a 5 star rating,but that says i love it. so really i should have given it 1 star because i hate it,but it gets 5 stars because it is an excellant product and does what it was purchased for extremely quickly. it is so good that i only used it twice,so i have unused mavala and unused cocktail sticks,because i am now back to eating yogurt with my forefinger and extracting foodstuffs from between my teeth with my tongue and finger. eating peanuts is now back to normal. i am now in possession of a lovely set of nails. i sit there admiring them and they seem to be screaming "bite me! if you dare!" that i dare not. i am considering offering my nails to a photographic modelling agency. i am sure that with the latest technology they would be able to airbrush the copious wrinkly skin off my hands and fingers. i see from reading other reviews that this product is used on children. if i was one of those children i would want the applicator prosecuted for child cruelty,even though my grandson would be getting it if he starts biting his nails! i dont think i will bite my nails again,not as long as the memory of the taste stays with me!

In my opinion, this is the best nail stopping formula on the market. I have been biting my nails for 38 years, which is a common habit for an ADHD the individual. This means that a truly decent nailbiting formula needs to be used. It’s now been six months of growing and with some nail care my nails look great. I’ve used this product before about 10 years ago and I did briefly stop then as well. This time, I hope it’s a permanent change. From a taste perspective, it’s rancid and it lingers for a long time. It’s not meant to be a nice taste as it’s a deterrent and it is exactly that. It has also stopped my six-year-old who also has ADHD from biting his nails. My wife and I tried everything to get him to stop, that is until both he and I used this. If you or your family member are looking to stop biting your nails, then look no further and give this a purchase. Of course you will need as a degree of willpower, but this will go a long way to helping you break the habit.

I have been biting my nails for years and just could not stop. I have applied this and have not bitten my nails for the past 2 weeks as I hate the taste. I no longer put my fingers near my mouth. It is the only thing that has stopped me biting my nails. I highly recommend please give it a try.

Tengo un hijo de 15 meses que desde los 6 meses empezó a chuparse el dedo gordo a cada momento dle día y siempre para poder dormir, el odontopediatra nos dijo que tenía que eliminar esa maña ya que podría causarle problemas futuros a su paladar, nos recomendó usar este producto, supongo por la edad que ya tiene. Primero probamos pidiéndole no usar el dedo y en algunas ocasiones nos hacía caso pero rápidamente volvía a ponérselo, cuando lo enviábamos a la guardería le poníamos y sobretodo en las noches, siempre nuestra primer opción fue pedir que no lo hiciera, llevamos 4 días de usarlo en estos últimos dos días ya no ha hecho por meterse el dedo así que el producto fue un gran apoyo. Esperemos que siga así sino nos volveremos a apoyar en el producto, funciona de maravilla intenta chuparse el dedo e inmediatamente deja de hacerlo, intentó usar otros dedos entonces tuvimos que ponérselo en todos para que no buscara alternativas.

It honestly works! I had tried everything and would always “get used” to the taste 😆 This product is expensive but it is worth every penny!! It lasts even if you shower, if you wash hands, days later - it’s still there. So absolutely you have no escape! If you’re in doubt, look no further - I was so dubious about spending the money and being another waste… but no way. Trust me… I hardly ever leave a review but I had to this time as I want to help people who are on the fence like I was!! It is amazing 🤩

Been a lifelong nail biter. I'm worst in the car where I do it absentmindedly. Was a bit sceptical about how good this stuff would be, or how long lasting it would last, but my fears turned out to be unfounded. It is awesome, tastes disgusting, and it very hard wearing. It's almost invisible unless you're really looking close, and the few times I've forgotten about it, and started to bite a nail, I'm given a very swift reminder not to do it again. The taste is bitter, and stays in the mouth long enough for you to not want to do it again. I sit here about two weeks into using it - nails are growing back nicely, no more sore fingers - nails are actually starting to catch on surfaces if I rub my fingertips over things. Amazing. I imagine I'll keep up the treatment for another couple of weeks, then stash the little bottle somewhere, and if I start to slip back into old habits, just do some shorter treatments as necessary, but I'm hoping this will help me break the association completely. If you want to stop - couldn't recommend this stuff highly enough.
