I've never seeded a lawn before, so I watched loads of YouTube videos and got the prep right. I'd had the seeds sitting in the bag in front of a window since September, so was a little paranoid that they'd be no good in April. The bad reviews on here had me convinced they'd be dead, especially as grass seeds feel pretty dead and weightless anyway. I sowed a few on a wet paper towel in a plastic container to check they were viable, and pretty much all of them sprouted :D I think the company could improve the user experience by recommending a specific fertiliser. As a newbie, this was a bit of a mindfield, and I was worried that my standard tub of Growmore wouldn't cut the mustard, as it isn't a lawn Starter Fertiliser per se. It seems to have done the job though. After about 3 weeks, I had grass. In 6 weeks, I could definitely call it a lawn. It's been my most rewarding lockdown project so far. There are still a few bare spots, but that's down to excessively shady areas and probably a variation in the subsoil water retention. It's easy enough to scratch the ground up a bit and reseed those sections. So in short, buy these seeds. They'll give you a lush, soft, bright green lawn that makes you want to roll around on it, and they're dirt cheap. Seeding will give you immense satisfaction rather than cheating using turf. You'll also reduce your carbon footprint this way. The negative rules may have been due to old stock, but I doubt it, as grass seeds apparently remain viable for a few years. They're probably down to bad prep or under/overwatering. Use netting to keep the birds off too. And don't make the mistake I made - leaving the bird feeder hanging on the tree over bare tilled soil. The stray seeds will germinate and you'll end up with a wheat crop that you have to remove from the lawn by hand. Good luck!

Update 22/08/26 Either Rainwater is the magic ingredient or someone at the grass factory saw my previous review, realised there had been a technical error and switch on my grass seed! I posted my original response 2 or 3 days ago, since then we have had the first significant drop of rain since Christmas and my grass is busting out all over. So I thought, "Do the right thing" and would be buyers that this wonderful grass seed DOES grow! Just make sure that you also order some local rain when you buy yours and hope that the manufacturers have set every see to the on position! Slightly Older review This is the best bird seed I ever bought. The local pigeons were all looking a little under nourished before I decided to do some long overdue repairs to my lawn. Bought a bag of this stuff, sewed it, lightly covered it with top soil, watered it, Temperature has been just right for growing grass these past 3 weeks, lord knows I seem to be out with the lawn mower cutting the existing grass every few days. And the final result is, 3 or 4 very fat wood pigeons and some random spots of freshly laid top soil. So if your looking for Birdseed that will not go to waste, this is the stuff to buy. If however you are looking for something to repair your patchy lawn, Your local garden centre will, i'm sure have just the thing. Does this company sell fish, I only ask because we have a very hungry heron living local and it seems unfair to feed the pigeons without giving the old heron the odd meal.

I bought this based on the reviews and pictures shown on the net. I have grown grass before with easy success. This grass really grows slowly and am still waiting to see the final results and whether the outcome is true to the pictures. Delivery was prompt but that's not the point here it's the outcome and the results. I also received no instructions or an email from the company on how to proceed, which is thumbs down for those who are not familiar with growing grass. Value for money, well at the moment still am waiting for results. It's been 3 weeks, so will wait another 3 unless a miracle occurs. Its 3 weeks later, so a total of 6 weeks before first cut at a high setting. You have to wait 48 hours after a rainfall or watering otherwise you pull out the new growth, the soil is soft when moist and the grass will pull out easily. Had a few patches which I refilled with patch fix formula. Overall I am impressed and reccomend to those who have patience for a slow growing grass.

This grass seed has been brilliant despite my best efforts to do wrong by it!! We have two acres of Scottish Highland garden that has been neglected for the last two years by the previous owners. We removed some old vegetable beds with the intention of putting it back to lawn. The area is uneven, rocky and only has a thin layer of topsoil. I flatten the area the best I could with planks of wood and stamping feet. Pulled out as many rocks as possible, gently raked it over and then seeded it. Knowing we have a lot of hungry birds around and a poor climate I seeded it with about 30g per square metre. I measure the first lot accurately into a jam jar and then put a line across the jar as a fill line. Using the jam jar I sprinkled the seed over each sq m patch. It rained the very first night, gentle rain rather than anything that might wash the seed away. Then we had sun and sun like you've never seen in the Scottish Highlands and the ground baked hard. After about 6 days I panicked and realised I should be watering the seeds so out came the sprinkler. The temperatures were unheard of up here in April/May 20c plus and sun! Nothing was germinating but I put the sprinkler on for 30-40 minutes everyday. After about 2-3 weeks there was a hint of green, and days later there was more than a hint. Within it week it was lush and green. When it got to about 2-3 inches tall I flattened it, I didn't have a roller so I used my feet. When it stood up again I cut it on a high setting with my petrol mower. It was still very dry weather so I kept watering it daily just in case it needed it. After another week I cut it again and it was much thicker. Now only 2 months since I seeded the area I can go over it with a petrol Flymo which is pretty harsh and it just grows right back. This seed survive Highland rain, a Highland heatwave and my lack of green fingers. It's good stuff. The first area was about 30 sq metres, I had a little left in the bag. I've since bought another bag for another area and have repeated what I did above and have the same results in similar conditions. It was a slow nervous start with 2 weeks of thinking it wasn't going to work but no, it worked and it seems fool proof.

The grass that sprouts from this seed is really good quality once it gets going and I have not experienced issues with weeds like some of the other reviews suggest. However, I have found in both of the 2 years I have been using this particular seed that it takes 3 weeks+ to start germinating - covered with a layer of top dressing and regular watering. I have also noticed that the success rate is quite low. For that reason I give it 3 stars as it’s a good quality finish but too much faff to get what you want from it.

I used seed from this same company in 2018 and it was brilliant. I’ve since moved and completely reset the lawn last month, as you can see. Seeded with topsoil around a month ago, regular watering and this is the result. Patches and mainly weeds just everywhere! I’d understand a small amount here and there but it’s literally everywhere. I just don’t even know what to do to fix this without spending more time and money.

Nur schade das der Grassamen hier bei Amazon.de nicht mehr oder nicht ständig angeboten wird. Würde das Produkt jedenfalls wieder kaufen.
