An amazing puzzle for two
You don't often get games made for two players exclusively. Sometimes bigger games at the 2 player count feel like you have been short changed. Ravens, however, is the perfect 2 player game - for those that enjoy puzzles.A beautiful card game exclusively for two, players take on one of two roles; one the girl who has lost her memory, the other the detective type character who is trying to repair it. The detective will draw cards that are numbered between 1 & 5 and coloured (red, gold, purple, green, blue) then place any number of them into the middle (the Atman). The girl will then either take a card into her memory or throw cards away as to give clues as to which value or colour is required to repair her memory - only colours within her memory can remain in the Atman by the end of the round/dream. The trick is that players cannot speak to one another, only by playing or removing cards can they work together to solve the unique puzzle to unlock her memory. Additionally, cards can only be played in the Atman)if they match the card underneath in such a way that it can be placed on top. To make matters more difficult, there are Raven cards that wish to eat and destroy the girls memory which depletes your available cards (and thus turns) for the next round/dream. And you will want to play the next round; without giving anything away, there are sealed envelopes within the game that not only progress the excellent story line, but make the game progressively harder by removing powers and adding new win conditions.Ravens is a beautiful looking game. The artwork is gorgeous and the narrative it tells captures you. Initially, it is a fairly tough game to get to grips with; it will likely take a few plays to iron out any mistakes you are making, but between the rule book and the publishers "how-to" video that can be found online, you should get there fairly quickly, especially if at least one if you is a 'seasoned' gamer. It evidently isn't for everyone, but if you enjoy puzzles and have a partner or friend that does too, then for the price point this comes in at, I can only give it my full recommendation.

LOVE IT!
I mean, I'm a sucker for anything Japanese, but this is a lovely little game. I play a lot of board games and mix it up quite a lot, but this is always one I feel like playing because it's so different. The mechanics are slightly tricky to learn at first, but worth it!

Different and rewarding
Brilliant, quirky two player game. It is complex and engaging, not a game of rummy by any means. Probably best suited to more committed gaming couples.

Brilliant cooperative game that we have racked up over 30 plays within 3 weeks. The art is lovely but the actual game mechanics are a nice mixture of asymmetrical play.

Unique asymmetric 'silent' co-operative card game for two players
This is a unique asymmetric 'silent' co-operative card game for two players, which is very enjoyable and has mechanics that match the manga-esque theme really well: the fragmented dreams, the hidden heart, those pesky ravens. Although having small text on big cards is an annoying trend in modern card games, at least in tRoTS, there is a valid reason for those cards to have the space for the fragmented artwork. Looking forward to playing this more and especially hoping to persuade the wife to try it: the passive role would suit her play style.
