WWE 2K18 (PS4)

I bought this game for xmas and i must say that i am very impressed! I skipped last year based upon reviews and was looking forward to playing a wrestling game again this year. The first thing i noticed was that the graphics are the best i have seen in any wrestling game, the characters are so life like its unreal, the actual gameplay is solid! Matches feel like a joy to play, i myself have played numerous matches in exhibition and they are very good, the addotion of backstage brawls is another plus. In terms of modes it is limited with career seemingly the same as previous years, universe mode however looks to be fun to me anyhow as it is cool to be the 'gm' of the company. Where the game really shines is the creation suite! Wrestlers look amazing and there is just so much additions you can add to them, create an arena is amazing also i have spent a ridiculous amount of time creating a custom 'wcw impact' arena that was real fun to make. This game ticks all the boxes for me and if you are a wrestling fan i would advise you to buy this.

As always WWE2K lives up to it’s reputation of fantastic gaming quality. WWE2K18 is no exception. I would highly recommend this game to all WWE enthusiastics.

This game has a lot going for it- a massive roster, great graphics, loads of customisation options and match types. But where it really disappoints is the lack of long term appeal. The career mode may have added backstage free roaming and a storyline, but the story isn't very good and there's not much to do backstage really. There are also bugs in the mode which make it a frustrating experience and some of the win conditions are very difficult and not always clearly explained. Sometimes as well, months go by with nothing but generic random matches taking place and also there are far too many run ins and pointless promos. The universe mode is exactly like it was last year- the ranking system makes no sense, cutscenes are repetitive and rivalries just feature the same old thing every week. If these two game modes had any kind of long term appeal it would be so much better. It's better than 2k17, but not by much. Probably won't bother with next year's game though.

The game is graphically much better than 2k17 and difficulty on legend mode is slightly harder. The crowd is more detailed although I still think there is more room for improvement........however the crowd chanting is more realistic based on certain shows e.g. NXT crowd sounds different to raw. I was slightly disappointed the inclusion of "Punjabi prison" and "Ambulance match" were not included in the game.........However backstage brawl areas are much bigger than 2k17. Overall I'm pleased with the general direction of the game and look forward to next years release of 2k19.

This is great fun. I play it with my kids every weekend and it ends up with loads of laughing. A great selection of characters and great options too. Bought for my sons 12th birthday

3.5 stars if i were able. While this is still a good game, it suffers from poor facial expressions and a few buggy problems. Patches needed to improve it's quality

Let me start by saying I'm a huge wrestling fan and I buy the WWE series year in, year out. I've been patient the past few years hoping that with the emergence of the PS4 and 2K taking over the series that we would eventually see a next generation game to rival, or best, some of the older Smackdown vs Raw titles. But I'm afraid my patience has run out. Improvements - The graphics. That is all, and is not enough to overcome the horrendous game that you are given in return for your hard earned money. Faults - Typically with 2K games you get all manner of glitches, and this game is no different... probably more so. Gameplay is slow and frame rate drops are common. The game is hounded by the need to buy things using the in-game currency, gone are the days where you unlocked the games content by working through the game itself. That combined with the ever-growing market of DLC it just feels like you are buying half a game. The absolute worst thing for me though is the amount of time I have spent sat looking at a loading screen. Many other games have significantly reduced, or even eliminated, loading screens on new generation consoles. This game however sometimes leaves me feeling like I'm waiting for an old Spectrum 128k to load up. I even contacted 2k to express my disappointment, who were less than sympathetic (they already have my money after all). This will, sadly, be the last time I buy a game in the WWE series as I no longer feel I get good value for my money.
