MITE INFECTIONS IN DOGS/CATS EARS There is nothing worse than realising one day that your dog or cat ...
DEALING WITH FUNGAL, BACTERIAL, MITE INFECTIONS IN DOGS/CATS EARS There is nothing worse than realising one day that your dog or cat is holding one of its ears down or continually shaking its head and clawing at its ear. Any combination of these actions tell you that your dog or cat has an ear infection that needs to be dealt with. Before you start you must realise that this is not going to be a quick fix, it could take a month or two or more to solve a problem that has got as bad as that shown in the picture. So, to help you out I am going to spell out my unconventional way of dealing with this problem. What you will need to get: Cotton wool face disc type face wipes about four or five packets. 10 ml syringe (no needles) 1 pint vinegar either apple cider or malt, it des not matter which. T gel original formula coal tar shampoo. EarSolvTM 50g Cleans Out Ear Wax, Yeast And Mites In Dogs, Cats And Rabbits. Boots dual action Athletes Foot powder (anti bacterial and antifungal properties) Your dog or cat should already be having monthly doses of Advocate which is supposed to deal with infestations of parasites. OK, if you have all of the above, you have now built up your arsenal to fight these persistent funguses, bacteria and mites. Prepare the antifungal / mite powder. Pour the canister of Boots foot powder and the EarSolvTM 50g in to a large bowl and mix together with a whisk. This effectively quadruples the amount of powder. It also helps stop the EarSolve TM from caking and makes it a much better free floating powder. When mixed, put the powder back into the Boots container, it should all fit in to it. Next step is preparing the ear wash solution. Into a mug pour (about the size of two large peas) some Tgel then add a table spoon of vinegar. Top this up to half a mug with pre-boiled water that has mild comfortable heat and stir until the Tgel is dissolved. Place a towel on your lap and get your dog to sit in front of you. If you have a cat, you might want to hold its front paws down flat against its body and wrap it in the towel to stop it struggling and scratching you. Fill the syringe with enough Tgel / vinegar liquid to fill your animals ear (slightly overflowing). Then hold the ear shut for two minutes while preventing your animal from shaking their heads. At the same time, gently pull the ear up and massage its base in order to dislodge any debris in the ear canal. After two minutes of doing this raise the towel on your lap up over the animals head and allow it to shake. When it has stopped shaking you are ready to go onto the next step. Take a cotton wool face wipe and soak it in the Tgel / vinegar mixture, lightly squeeze it out then very gently (the ears may be very sore, bleeding or even ulcerated) work the cotton wool pad around all of the crevices in the ear from the bottom up. You will need to do this with several pads before you get all of the gunk out of the ear. Once the free floating gunk has been removed you will see a black or blue-black staining of the skin. This is the fungal / bacterial infection. You cannot remove this by wiping it with the cotton wool pad so don't try because the next stage is designed to deal with that problem. SO, lets recap on what we have achieved so far with the wash. We have cleared all of the free floating debris out of the ear. We have treat to a certain extent the fungal infection with the vinegar and also at the same time treated the symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis with the Tgel. The next stage starts after the animals ear has completely dried, the reason for this is that we don't want the dry powder to cake in the ear. Once the ear is completely dry, open the ear canal and move any fur to the side if possible. Then give the ear a good dusting with the powder while gently shaking the ear so that the powder gets deep in side all of the nooks and crannies. OK, what have we just achieved by doing this. We have started the process of clearing out the ear wax, yeast fungus infection and the ear mites with the EarSolvTM component and reinforced its effectiveness with the anti-fungal anti-bacterial properties of the Boots foot powder. Both of which helps significantly relieve the itching and soreness of the ear. You must do this FULL treatment every morning and evening until all of the black / blue-black discoloration in the ear has gone and then for a month afterwards to make sure it does not come back. This process will turn your dogs cats ear fur white, this is a normal part of the process and it will grow back to its normal colour once the treatment is over. MAINTAINANCE, once your pets ears are completely cured, you MUST repeat this procedure once or twice a week Many animals naturally suffer from this HIGHLY REPETETIVE CONDITION so it must be kept under strict control. DISCLAIMER:- Each of the completely made up solutions MUST be skin tested on a little area of your pets stomach to test for allergies. It is no good testing the products individually because once made up their chemical compostion is changed due to interactions of the chemicals used. I have had Belgian Shepherds (large eared dogs) that are prone to this condition for over 50 years and have always used this method for successfully treating this problem. I hope this information helps you to do the same. It would be wise to highlight this text and past i

Amazing stuff!
I love this stuff!!!! Wish I'd found out about years ago. It would've saved me a few hundred pounds and countless trips to the vets and unfortunately a lot of his hearing due to scar tissue for my very floppy eared English sprinter spaniel. My poor dog was plagued with recurring ear infections and the smelliest, itchiest ears you could imagine. It was my hairdresser that recommended this stuff and I thought.... what the heck it's worth a try. I'm really extactic that once his infection had cleared and he started rubbing and scratching his ears with that all too familiar pong; I gave this a try that was 2 yrs ago now and no more trips to vet for antibiotics, drops and cleaner (that he used to yelp in pain with) I followed the instructions and within a couple of days he was as fine. I now use it maybe once a month for a couple of days when he starts rubbing his head on the carpet or scratching at them like thumper! He even sees the bottle now and sits down ready for me to put it in. I really could recommend this stuff enough!!!!!

I gave this a try and was totally amazed at how good it was
After trying lots of different ear cleaners for my Labrador, I gave this a try and was totally amazed at how good it was. My dog's ears have been troublesome all of his 8 years. Within 6 days of using this, they has cleared up and were no longer runny and smelly. The only problem is that there are no directions for use or any applicator. We used a medicine spoon to sprinkle the powder in his ears. My dog is good and sits still, if he had been a bit excitably it would have been difficult getting the powder in. Overall and excellent product and will buy again !

The first thing to ever keep my dogs’ ears clean
I’ve had bassets for some 30 years and being a breed that has ears which dont naturally aerate, they can quickly get waxy. I’ve used liquid cleaners provided by vets and dermatologists but for obvious reasons, they remain damp for a very long time (and the dogs hate having their ears flushed. This powered was recommended to me so after approx 2 months of using it, one of the dogs was due to see his dermatologist for a check up. I advised her what I’d be using and she sounded sceptical and said it could easily clog his ears up. She came back having examined him to say his ears were clean and dry with no build up of powder or wax. As we only use the lightest sprinkle which doesn’t even make it down the ear canal, I doubt that they will clog up. It also goes a very long way with no waste. Highly recommended
