Perfect Coffee!
I’m very pleased with this coffee maker. After using a French press for years, I decided to try a percolator, and this model really impressed me. It’s easy to use and lets you make just a few cups for yourself or a full pot when company comes over. I served some to my sister, and she remarked on how great it tasted. Just add filtered water to the level you want, scoop in the grounds with a paper filter, lock on the lid, and turn it on. A red indicator lights up when brewing is complete, and the coffee stays hot until you’re done. My only gripe is the lack of an automatic shutoff, so you do need to remember to switch it off. I like the clear lid, which lets you watch the percolation even better than the usual glass knobs. It operates quietly, doesn’t create a mess, brews two to twelve six‑ounce cups, and its compact size doesn’t take up much counter space. I don't usually write reviews, but this just shows how much I wanted to share my positive experience.

Great Coffee! - No Plastic! - Update Filter vs No Filter Solution
What we love: The taste of the coffee. We love how it automatically stops cycling the coffee through the grounds and just goes to keep hot mode. It's not as good as pour over, but it's a close second. We also love how it looks and the fact that we can lift it off the base to pour a cup (no unplugging). And finally, we love that there isn't any plastic that can leach into our coffee and into our bodies which is why we bought this. What we don't love: We don't like that it doesn't have an auto shutoff. If you forget to turn it off then you can burn it up. What we did to fix what we don't love: We bought a plug in timer that allows us to click 1-8 hours of it being on. You can't turn the pot on unless you select the time limit. Easy solution to the only thing we don't like. There are many options, but here's the one we use https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KKOJ42U?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title (not an affiliate link). How we like to brew: There's a little debate on whether to use a filter, or not. We've tried both and prefer no filter. Yes, you get a few grounds in the very bottom and an occasional one or two that sneak into the other cups before the last one, but we feel that's a small price to pay for a slightly better tasting coffee. The filters still work great and the coffee still tastes great, so it's really just a personal choice. So far, we haven't had any grounds clog the holes in the basket (we use regular pre-ground coffee). Solution to the coffee filter debate: To keep 99.9% of the grounds out of the coffee, we bought a 4.5 inch french press mesh strainer that fits perfectly inside the metal basket. The last minuscule problem has been solved! Non-affiliate link below for the one we bought. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RZVWCWP?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 We hope this helps :-)

Worth Every Penny
I bought a different coffee maker for my staff. I have this one at home at home, it makes fantastic coffee and stays great all day. There is a difference, the cheap one however makes terrible tasting coffee, and it only gets worse after an hour or two. I have an account with a local coffee roster and get very high-end coffee. The same coffee, filters and water are used in both percolators but there is a huge difference. The only thing I can say is the cheaper pot brews really hot and burns the coffee. While setting it keeps it too hot and further destroys the flavor. My Bad for not spending the money and getting the more expensive one that I have (Presto 02815 12-Cup Cordless Coffee Percolator) at home. Getting a quality percolator like this one makes all the difference. FYI: I grind for a drip coffee maker which is a finer grind and this gets more flavor out of the coffee.

Base started leaking after only 4 months!
This is a review that I really don’t want to write. After researching for close to a year trying to figure out the most nontoxic coffee maker (that also brews really good coffee), we decided on this stainless steel percolator. (Trying to get away from all things “plastic” due to a cancer diagnosis). My husband and I were immediately thrilled with the coffee that the percolator makes - it is hands down the best tasting coffee I’ve ever brewed here at home. However, the underside of this electric percolator started leaking after only 4 months of using it! I kept thinking my husband was just being sloppy when he’d pour his cup of coffee, but it’s definitely not him. This constant mess of liquid is actually LEAKING out of the underside/base of the unit. It appears to be a grayish-tinted liquid, and it leaks out every single time we pick it up (whether I'm setting up the pot to brew, pouring our individual cups of coffee, or when we’re about to disassemble the machine to clean it at the end). It’s not coffee that’s coming out either, but some other unknown dark gray liquid from the base of the machine. There are several small holes on the underside of the base, and this gray liquid flows out of them. This mess occurs everyday, whether we brew 6, 8, 10, or 12 cups. It’s just so disheartening, because this machine really does brew delicious coffee. But I’m far too nervous to keep using it, considering all of this gray fluid that is constantly dripping out of the bottom of the device. And after searching and searching for the “best” coffee maker, I really did believe I had found it when I bought this percolator. But my gosh, it truly should’ve lasted much longer than only 4 months! Such a big disappointment, and a waste of money, too. Editing to add: Now I’m finally taking the time to read through all the “negative” reviews, and I’m seeing that I’m not the only one complaining of the leakage from the base of the carafe! I’m so disappointed that I overlooked these reviews prior to purchasing! I must have only read all the good ones. Wow. Even worse, it sounds like the interior of the carafe/pot contains ALUMINUM!!! This is supposed to be a 100% stainless steel percolator (at least in all areas where the water and/or coffee come into contact). This is completely unacceptable!!! As a cancer patient, the LAST thing I want to do is drink acidic coffee that has been brewed against any sort of aluminum surface!!! SHAME ON YOU PRESTO!!!

Overall Really Good & Coffee Tates Great!
Overall, I'm really happy with this Presto Percolator. It doesn't take up much space, is easy to clean, and looks fairly decent if left on the counter. Most importantly, it makes GREAT tasting coffee, and there are no plastics in the housing to leach chemicals into the brew. The brew time is about five minutes. I usually make six cups every morning, which is about one average-sized coffee tumbler. Cleanup is a breeze. It's nice to be able to see the entire inside of the pot and towel it dry after cleaning. No nooks and crannies for gunk to accumulate! It also makes for a much nicer presentation at the table when I host guests. I deducted a star because it doesn't have an auto-off. I forgot to turn it off one morning, and it developed a terrible burning/chemical smell. I was thankful that I was home, and it wasn't left to burn all day. Now I turn it off as soon as I've poured my coffee. The other inconvenience is not being able to see how much coffee is left in the pot. For the price, it's a very good coffee maker, and I recommend it.

Best coffee set up. Makes hot coffee, free of plastic, and easy to clean.
No photos because there are plenty posted in reviews already. Throughout our coffee journey, we’ve had extended periods of varying coffee brewing techniques. We’ve done drip coffee, pour-over, French press, nespresso, and now this percolator. The main goal is to get a quality cup of coffee without plastic. This is by far the best set up we’ve ever had & it’s completely plastic free. In the past, we’d have to pre-heat our milk to keep the coffee hot. However, this percolator brews coffee so hot, that you NEED the cold milk to cool it down and even then, you have to be careful not to burn yourself. So this method alone of brewing coffee has saved us a whole extra step + dirty dish. It’s also very easy to clean. We use a paper towel to wipe out the grounds after dumping the majority of them. The rinsing/washing is a breeze or you can simply put the pieces in the dishwasher. They’re completely stainless steel after all. Unfortunately, the price of the item has increased by 1/3 since we bought it a few weeks ago. We purchased it for seventy-five dollars (full price) and it’s already at ninety-nine dollars 3 weeks later. I do think that’s ridiculous. This item is so simple, it really shouldn’t cost more than $30-40 tops.

Sturdy and easy to clean
Best percolator on the market! Had a GE one that was pretty wonderful until it finally broke and then they don’t make them anymore. Tried a few others and they broke easily. This was my last one and it’s been great! It’s easy to clean and has lasted 6 months. It makes a pot of coffee in 10 minutes and unlike my other percolators it’s not as noisy!

Mostly satisfied, but it lasted about two years with moderate use
We normally use a French press, but we bought this for larger batches of coffee when we entertain. It makes great tasting coffee with only a slight drop-off in taste compared to a French press. Overall, we *were* moderately satisfied with the purchase; however, it lasted almost exactly two years before it began to leak through the plastic at the bottom. After brewing, the residual coffee began to leak through the bottom within a few minutes. I wasn't able to find the leak, but it appears to have been near where the stainless steel meets the plastic. I'm a little disappointed in short lifespan especially given that we never dropped it, left it on, and did not use it every day. A couple of other minor annoyances: there is no auto shut-off. So, if someone poured the last of the coffee, we had to hurry to turn it off. Luckily, we never forgot it on, but percolator gets a little too hot after brewing, and other reviews mentioned burning at the bottom due to the lack of auto shut-off. Also, if coffee is not poured with 15-20 minutes, it begins to taste burnt. I always wished it had a temperature control setting to keep coffee warm.
