Great for amateur use
A great quality wax for amateur use. I have never rewaxed anything before using this product. I have used Grangers G wax on my walking boots and found the quality to be great so opted to try my coat at home. I'd watched numerous YouTube videos and several required the wax to be melted however this one did not need to be and could be applied in it's current form. It applied easily with a soft sponge and went on relatively quickly. I did take time time to make sure I didn't miss anything. My tip of advise would be not to rush the process, allow yourself plenty of time with good light and make sure you get every area. One of the photos is during the waxing stage, I was initially worried as it looked patchy however that isn't how it dried. I have applied one layer to a large wax jacket and still have plenty of product left to do other items making this extremely good value for money. Once dried it looks good and doesn't have that strong over powering wax smell you get with some coats. The other photo is the water beading on the coat, reaffirming that it indeed does provide a protective layer to the coat. I would happily recommend and repurchase when required.

Inexpensive and easy to apply, does the job ๐
Purchased a pre-worn Celtic & Co Wax cotton 3/4 riding coat that just needed reproofing, from a well known auction site for ยฃ200 less than the retail. After a quick review of the available options and application methods I decided on the Grangers wax. A good quality traditional alternative at around 1/2 the price of the Thornproof wax and with no need to warm it up first. Application: A big coat with lots of seams, straps and pleats, I decided to use an ironing board with an old towel to protect the boards cover. This allowed me to focus on individual panel areas and flatten them out. Then using a clean washing up sponge I loaded it up with the soft wax and methodically worked the wax into the coat. The wax went on quickly and covers evenly, after finishing 1 panel and seeing the obvious difference it became easier to judge the amount of wax required. The full coat, including the storm flap panels and trim areas took about 1 1/2 hours in total to cover, and about 20 mins with a hair dryer to ensure it was soaked in to the cloth and there were no dry patches. The coat now looks like new and there is at two thirds of a tin left. Recommended? Yes this took a while to complete, but this was an extreme case and having done it once I wonโt be using the Barbour reproofing service again. If all you need to cover are a few dry patches or seams that need reproofing then this will do the job quickly and blend in seamlessly.

Good product
Used a full tub on jacket with hood,it spreads on quite well with sponge, it does smell tho so be aware of that,(maybe melt the wax and add some nice scent to wax before you apply it), I will be doing that nxt time, if you end up putting too much on and notice when it's dried just get the wife's hairdryer and give your jacket a once over where you see the buid up of wax, put plenty around the seams of jacket make sure they are done properly and do it in sections, it is easy as you will see the different changes in colour when you apply. My jacket hand been done at all and was 10yrs old, now it looks brand new. ๐ for the price you carnt go wrong and only took 1 hour to do.

Brought my Barbour back to life.
I used Grangerโs Wax Cotton Dressing on my tired-looking Barbour jacket, and Iโm honestly amazed at the results. The jacket had lost its sheen and was starting to look a bit dry, but after applying this dressing it looks practically brand new again. The wax went on smoothly, wasnโt overly messy, and soaked in nicely with a bit of gentle heat. The finish is rich, even, and gives that classic waxed look back to the fabric. It also feels much better protected against rain and general wear. If youโve got a waxed cotton jacket thatโs looking worn or dull, this is absolutely worth it. Easy to use, great results, and genuinely brought my jacket back to life. Highly recommend! Check my before and after pictures.

Re waxing Barbour jacket
Finally waxed my own jacket . I barely wear this jacket in the elements as itโs more of a collectors item but after years of not being waxed I decided to do it myself . In the past Iโve sent it to Barbour to do but sending a winter jacket away in the summer to get waxed easily slips the mind and as soon as winter comes you feel thereโs no point sending it away and having to wait for it to come back . So I bit the bullet and decided to do it myself . I choose grangers wax over Barbour as you can apply it straight on the coat with out having to melt the wax which in a colder room is a lot easier after watching many โhow toโฆโ videos on YouTube . I decided to just rub on the wax with a new sponge working it panel by panel . A small bit goes along way and surprised how little I used . The jacket looked very waxy and shiny and a bit sticky to touch . I aloud just under 24 hours for the fabric to soak the wax in then went over it with a hair dryer . You see the areas with more wax become shiny and using a lint free cloth rub the area again and work it right into the fabric . I did this twice and waiting 1 hour between each so the jacket cooled down again . The result was more of a Matt non sticky finish returning it to how it looked when it was brand new . Very easy to do and well worth the time spent on it that was roughly 1 hour 30 mins all together. Defo recommend doing this to any wax jacket thatโs in need of a little bit of love . After all a wax jacket can last a life time and will need a bit of TLC once every few years . Iโve Uploaded the before and after pics (pics donโt do it justice) as I was very pleased with the results and as said before itโs a lot easier with not having to worry about melting the wax when applying . I read reviews saying people to melt it but thereโs no need to and apply it like the tin instructs for better than expected results. Well worth the money and time , wish I done it my self ages ago

Works well but allow a couple of hours to apply
I have a waxed Australian style full length Drovers coat that was in need of re-waxing and so I decided to try this product as it had decent reviews and a good price. Most reviewers and how to video's were for traditional wax jackets that reach waist level so with a full length coat I decided to order 2 tins. Let me say right away that 1 tin was more than enough even for a full length coat with some left over. Following guidelines and instructions I softened the wax by sitting the tin in a bowl of just boiled water and left it to soften. In my case it softened well but never became totally liquid but that was fine. Using a soft cloth I worked it into the coat focusing on one panel at a time and working it into an area of about 150mm square at a time to make sure it was well worked into the material and as even as I could get it. I worked on a flat tabletop (protected) to make it easier to work in so make sure you have a good work area. The complete coat took about 2.5 hours to do and the difference was easily visible and then I left it hanging in an airing cupboard for 24 hours so the wax could sink in to the fabric. I wore the coat 2 days later as the British weather gave me every opportunity to test the waterproofing and the water simply ran off and did not penetrate inside. I did feel that the coat now had a shiny finish which I was not keen on so once back home and dry I spent another hour with a hair dryer slowly playing it over the entire surface and could see the wax soften and soak more into the surface. This left it noticeably less glossy and more a material matt finish which looked much more like the original manufacturer finish. So in summary I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it to bring new life to any old tired wax garment. For good results be prepared to spend several hours (Almost 4 in my case) working hard, do finish off with a hairdryer and leave it hanging for 24 hours in a nice warm environment. As a word of caution, do not over apply the wax because if there is more wax than the material will absorb the finish will be glossy and even have a white wax film in cold weather.
