What type of leather is this bag made of ?

The flyer that came in the box states the bag is made of "goat hunter" leather. I don't know where they found this goat hunter or how they got his (or his family's) permission to make him into a bag, but it turned out real nice and I think of him every time I use the bag.

How well do the seems hold up?

Had it for a day and one seem on the top handle caused the Leather to rip. Now the handle only has one side attached, however that one side is holding up well. Bag weighed 18lbs when the handle snapped mid lift (not all the weight was on the handle yet). Dealer is already working with me to replace the bag.

Is it safe to use leather conditioner or waterproofing?

I just ordered mine and it will be copiously coated inside and out with WD-40, then I'll let it sit a few days prior to use. Leather conditioner and Moisture resistance all in one shot. I'll upload media afterwards.

Is this bag waterproof?

It's cowhide. Even if it was waterproof you NEVER leave full grain leathers like this in rain. This would 100% rot in less than 48 hours if you didn't dry it out. Most if not all leather satchel bags are going to be like this, so it's just something to live with when you use full grain leather products of any sort.
