How good are they at cutting out background / ambient noise?

Good at high volume. But two months into having these headphones the right side broke. Even though they were in the same place 24/7. Wouldn't recommend.

Are they over-ear or on-ear?

I have big ass ears and they fit over-ear for me comfortably.
