Easy to use, works well and is good value for money!
Ever since buying a new laptop that has a traditional 5400rpm HDD and a smaller SSD, which is used to boot up my PC, I love just how much faster and better SSDs are compared to normal HDDs. My laptop boots up in about 10 secs, which used to take minutes on my old laptop. However, the SSD is only 120GB in size, so I was looking to get another SSD with more storage space so I could back up the data on my laptop more quickly, as my last laptop only had a normal HDD and I used an external HDD to back up my laptop data and it would take all night to backup. So I looked into getting an external portable SSD and when I saw how more much these cost compared to internal 2.5 SSDs and I discovered SSD internal drive enclosures, I resolved to create my own "external" SSD, using an internal SSD and the enclosure by Sabrent, which is the product I'm reviewing. The enclosure arrived quick and was competitively priced. When I opened the box, it had the enclosure, usb 3.1/3.0 cable to connect to my laptop and some instructions. Once I purchased a 500GB internal SSD, I then inserted it into the enclosure with relative ease and then proceeded to back up my whole laptop in about 30-35 minutes, which was a MASSIVE reduction in time and exponentially faster than running backups on my old laptop. If you want to save some money and create your own portable SSD and not pay through the nose for an external SSD and get more GB for your money, get this Sabrent enclosure and buy a good-value 2.5 internal SSD and save yourself some money! Once you go SSD, you never want to go back to HDD and the Sabrent enclosure makes it a lot easier and cheaper to use SSD.

Very fast with the right drive, and very easy to use
I originally bought this as a quick way to connect my old laptop drives so that I could make sure that everything was backed up before wiping them. Connecting the drives way easy, as they just slide in while the power's off. The lid just slides forward from the back when you want to put a drive in. Browsing and copying the files was fast and smooth, and there were none of the usual slowdowns you get when transferring files over USB. Where the enclosure came into its own though, was when holding an SSD. Copying files to and from the enclosed drive is very fast. I haven't noticed much of a difference between having the drive connected inside the computer. I've even used it as a boot drive to run Linux, and there are no slowdowns when running an operating system from an SSD in the enclosure. I'm writing the review now because I'm buying a second enclosure for my wife to use, as I've found it so much faster than a regular USB pen drive. Obviously it's bigger than a pen drive, but in my opinion, the massive increase in speed is worth it. The only downside is the cable. It's great and works excellently, but it's USB A on both sides, which tends to be unusual. It's not a major issue, but it does mean that if you break the cable, you're not likely to have a spare to hand. That's literally the only downside i've found to this enclosure though. I highly recommend it :)

tooless SSD enclosure thats works fine but details can spoil a good product
I had a spare SSD which i wanted to use as extra storage for laptops in the house. I chose this due to the tool less design by the same brnad as one of my SSDs. It was easy to install my SSD inside and worked just fine. There is a switch to turn off the drive without disconnecting which is great for backup devices. However the cheap plastic case lacks a quality feel which i have had from other enclosures at a similar price point and the annoying bright blue LED indicating that its on cant be turned off and its a bit jarring in a clean setup or darkened area. Not bad for the money and easy to use but details sometimes spoil a good product

Works great!
I bought this to be able to connect an SSD to my Nintendo Wii, but I will likely be buying another one of these to use with another HDD or SSD to create a portable hard drive in the future. I've used Sabrent products before, and I've always been impressed with how intuitive their products are and how easy they are to use. In the box there are some instructions along with the enclosure and a USB 3.0 A male-to-male cable. The enclosure is designed for 2.5" inch drives, and it's quite straightforward to fit the drive inside the enclosure. While the enclosure is mostly plastic, it feels very well-made and would offer some protection to the drive inside. The speed of the enclosure is going to vary greatly depending on the drive you have inside it, along with the system you are connecting it to, but I got the levels of performance I expected during my usage with the enclosure having virtually no negative impact on speeds. Overall, this is a great, affordable enclosure that can be used for various tasks. I look forward to using the one I currently have more going forward, but I feel like I will be purchasing an additional one shortly. Update - July 2024: I ended up ordering another one for my PS5, as I had a 1TB SATA SSD lying around that I wanted to use with the console, as I was running out of storage. Similarly to last time, the enclosure is working exactly as expected and works well enough to store more modern games on it without any noticeable performance loss. As a general rule of thumb, these enclosures are only as good as what you put in them, as well as other limitations such as the device it’s connected to. Once again, I'm more than happy with the result.

Does What It Says (ChromeOS review)
My Toshiba Satellite L-550 Pro laptop was ready for the e-waste shelf. I had the hard drive replaced back in 2015, so I wanted to take that out, as well as the RAM, before I dropped it at Curry's. Anyhow, the hard drive is the ol' Western Digital Black 500GB (WD5000LPLX). It has a 2.5-inch (Slim 7mm profile) form factor. The interface is SATA III. It is a little fiddly to get the drive in and slide it down, but once it clicks, you are confident it is inserted correctly. There is nothing to it. Remove the case top by sliding up and then lifting. Very easy to open. Plug in the included USB-A, turn it on, and it is plug and play. The Chromebox recognised the drive immediately. It was formatted into exFAT in less than a second. I did some file transfers and they were quick enough for me. I have no idea what speeds. I did transfer a couple gigs though. Now, I have a good external drive. The box says it is Windows and Mac compatible, but it works fine on a Chomebox, Chromebook whatever Chrome device you may have. Good, inexpensive purchase. Saves you from having to destroy a hard drive. The average person isn't capable of wiping it.
