Really stylish
This is a really stylish design which we prefer to the typical moka. It's excellent quality, easily makes six cups and after several uses hasn't got any stains. I would definitely buy the Bialetti over other brands. Definitely recommended. It was also excellent value for money.

Significant improvement over old aluminium models
I've used a moka pot for about 20 years and I've only had two in all that time: both were Bialetti classic aluminium models. I am very familiar with these coffee makers: I always start with fresh boiled water from the kettle, never cold; don't tamp the coffee down, use low heat for a slower percolation; I have a spidey-sense for "the sound" that lets me know when to kill the heat etc. etc. Now I've moved house and have an induction hob for the first time, so I bought this stainless steel model. It is such a significant upgrade over the old aluminium models that I am compelled to write this review. The quality of the machining is far better, the filter fits perfectly, the base+filter screws into the top part smoothly. The spout is gone, replaced with a much thinner steel lip so there is no dribble. The sealing ring is silicone, not rubber, so it won't require such frequent replacement and it provides a better seal. The lid doesn't wobble. These might sound like basic things, but if you've used the old aluminium models you'll appreciate just how much better this is. It's like a different company made it. Now (with induction) I don't even bother with pre-boiling the water in the kettle: I put cold water in from the tap, and it takes around 1:30-1:45 to boil the water and percolate the coffee. It still helps to have an ear for the sound but my god is it a simpler & faster process, and so far it seems notably more consistent. If your only experience of moka pots is with the finicky old aluminium models, you owe it to yourself to try one of these stainless steel models: they are superior in every way. Update: I have now used this thing every morning for 6 months. If I had to find one flaw with it, it would be that the interior has a raised middle which would make cleaning it tricky if you were to leave coffee sitting in it. If it’s just me drinking coffee then I pour any excess into a glass for later use and half-fill the top with water so it doesn't have coffee steeping in it in a hard-to-clean place. In practice this isn’t an issue and if mine broke today I’d immediately replace it with the same model.

No Fancy or Frills. It Just Makes Coffee . . . Superbly!
Beautifully made and very attractive. Easy to use and clean afterwards. Standard of manufacture is faultless. It can make excellent coffee in about 4 minutes. I've no idea what blending power is or how a stainless steel pot can do anything about the flavour of the coffee. Surely, that's up to the coffee and water you use! However, I've given full marks for everything because it deserves them. The only issue I have had is courser grinds don't come out particularly well. But, that's my choice of coffee rather than the maker. With finer grinds its in a league of its own. Very happy customer

My first stovetop (stainless steel?) espresso maker
Received this today and after reading all the reviews gained a lot of insight into this espresso maker - being the first one I have purchased, although I have used others in the past. I had problems with delivery (from Hot Plate Products Ltd but on the invoice says Amazon SARL) but v good Amazon customer service meant that I still received the item within the same week, so thank you Amazon CS. The item arrived in its original packaging which states that it is 'developed & designed in Italy' but made in China - I have no qualms about this (hopefully fair) arrangement but it seems other reviewers do so it must be important to some of you out there. It also states '18/10 stainless steel collector and heater also suitable for induction hobs' but does not say what the inner parts are made of. I mention this as there have been comments about the use of aluminium (Al) in this type of espresso maker but I have no idea if that is the material used here. If that is the case, this is slightly disappointing as I was under the impression that this was wholly made out of stainless steel but I have not looked into the pros/ cons of the use of Al. The outer packaging does state stainless steel but does not list any other materials, not even the evident plastic. I notice a previous review mentioned the fact that the inner parts were not magnetic, but I also read in the comment that not all stainless steel is so I am none the wiser. On opening the box, I immediately noticed some dark brown/ black flecks on the outer and inner side of the lid. I do not know what this infers but I found that I could easily wash it off with water and the use of my fingernails! The body was shiny and flawless. The bottom of the tank also had some of these flecks on it but was otherwise in excellent condition. After discarding the first brew, as per the instructions, I immediately made myself a mug to try. It started to gurgle nicely and when the sound stopped, it was ready. Yes, I was relatively happy with my first cup, getting that satisfactory caffeine buzz I have missed, but I think I will need to have a few goes with it to make it to taste. Anyone who has visited the continent or a coffee shop, I think will know that an espresso cup is tiny, so this was not an issue for me and as others have said, could make 1-2 mugs (with milk/ cream). The first brew I checked by opening the lid - but found that this was a mistake as the condensation collected under the lid ran onto the handle (making it hot) and also down the side of the pot. This in turn slightly scorched the bottom of the pot. I also found that the circumference of the bottom of the tank was also quite scratched after use on the gas hob, so the quality is not what I hoped for, but perhaps that is what I paid for. On first wash (after leaving it to cool) I did notice some discolouration within the tank and upper part. I used boiled water (no abrasives used as per instructions) to rinse it and left it to air dry but the discolouration remained. One of the other pots I had used prior to this was a 4 cup (which made me go for a 6 cup) and felt heavier in the hand. It was v obviously made completely out of good quality materials and the handle was also much sturdier and designed to be held at right angles to the pot (if I could find it, I would have bought it!), so this pot loses a star for not being as good quality as expected, pending further use & hopefully discovering it is made fully out of stainless steel (otherwise would lose another star)!

Mommy's morning cup - perfect every time!
Being a mother of two under the age of 4, I need quick, easy and I definitely need caffeine. Coming from Italian family, I've been in contact with many Moka pots. This is by far my favourite. As with all Moka pots, It is very important to follow the instructions and not overfill the water or grounds or, as some reviews make mention, there may be leakage. There are a number of factors why I like this over my traditional aluminium Bialetti Moka Pot. - looks sharp & modern - No leaks or spills when used properly - High quality, good weight stainless steel - Design perfect for balanced heating - Easy to put together - Easy to clean - No metal or burning taste - Easy to pour & comfortable handle for my small hands (see photo) - Multi Hob option (glass, gas, induction) Since purchasing this, I have used it every morning for my daily cappuccinos. It's easy to use, quick to make and quick to clean. I personally just rim e my pot daily and wash down my Moka every couple of days using a very mild detergent. Ensure that its all dry before putting back together (as per instructions) however, I use mine so much there never time to fully dry! I truly haven't found anything I don't like about it. If this changes, I will edit my post. I've recommended it to my friends and will continue to do so.

A great buy-but do read!
I got this a few days ago, and have used it quite a lot! Altho its a 6 cup they ARE expresso-so about shot glass size! It makes about two normal size mugs, if you like big coffee! Most importantly, I did not get the original classic bialetti because I saw it was made of aluminium. Due to reading about possible links with aluminium, dementia and alzheimer's (although NOT proven), for the sake of my health and my families health, I was not willing to risk it . So this little baby hit the spot! its Stainless steel. I do not understand why some reviews are complaining about charring-you MUST have the heat low, very low! The instructions clearly state the flame must be underneath, not come up over the sides of the pot. Mine is shiny new still!! Also, for those who complained the handle comes off easily-again the instructions clearly state, do NOT use it as a lever to open the pot! Wait till the pot is cold, then unscrew it!! Although-I would say the handle is not very strong-so it would need handling with care-it looks sturdy, but be careful! Yes, when you lift the lid, it CAN splat hot water out of the opening at the back of the lid-this has only happened to me once tho-and I am always lifting the lid!! The pipe that brings the water to the top of the coffee pot does not go all the way down into the bottom reservoir. This is to leave a little water at the bottom, so it does not burn the bottom of the pan. SO, dont leave it on the hob to long- or it will burn and scorch!!!! I would suggest getting a feel for it. I wait until its gurgled for about a minute or less. and is about 1cm below the pipe in the top pot, that brings the coffee to the top. Then turn the heat off. I do press down very lightly with the coffee grounds. Initially I did think the coffee tasted 'burnt', but later on the coffee was lovely and mellow, so it is practise. Don't leave it to long. I used costa. But I will experiment with others too. I also do not understand why reviews felt this took to long to brew up from cold! It takes maybe five mins. Although warm water is helpful. I heat the milk in the microwave about one/ two mins after I have put the coffee pot on. But it really is not too long. Clean using water only - do NOT use soap - again, it clearly says this in the instructions! If you do it as soon as the pot is cold -although, I must admit, I have done it luke warm, and its great. Make sure it it totally dry before putting it away. I towel dry it, and then leave the pieces out for a while, then check they are dry REALLY dry - no tiny drips by the rubber seal etc and THEN assemble it to put it away. This may seem long winded, but things cost money and need to be treated properly. DO NOT tighten the top to the bottom to hard. Either when you make it or when you put it together to put away. Just do it up.Simple. There is enough tightness I found it you just do it properly. you do not need to over tighten. This makes it easier to open anyway, and puts less stress on the pot. Keep the handle away from the flame-obviously-but if you have it on low, you should not have an issue with the handle getting hot or scorching anyway. Do NOT leave coffee in it for long! Of course that will be hard to clean! Its very shiny. Not as authentic looking at the other one, but I am happier in my own mind with it.

Excellent Expresso Coffee Maker
The Bialetti stainless steel espresso stove top coffee makers are excellent quality - I also own a 4 cup in Australia. I would never use an aluminium one because I've seen how the internal stems gradually dissolve over time...into your coffee! I purchased this larger one for an extended stay with family in the UK. I was worried about this being able to work on an ordinary electric stove top as I have gas in Australia, but have discovered that it works fine. I've been using stove top coffee makers for years and have developed a 'method' for the coffee we like (I make strong coffee to which I add hot milk latte style). Bialetti advises putting the coffee in the funnel without pressing it down (tamping) but I have found that if you want a strong, rich brew tamping the coffee lightly helps. Use coffee that is roasted and ground specifically for espresso making (or if grinding yourself, do not grind too fine). Using boiling water from the kettle instead of cold improves flavour. Be careful though as the pot gets very hot - use a cloth or oven glove to screw the top back on to the boiler. Brew on a medium low heat and do not 'over brew' as the coffee will burn and taste bitter: remove from heat when you hear the 'gurgling' sound. Another thing to remember is to prime your new expresso maker by brewing coffee in it several times and discarding. In any case, flavour improves with use! For our type of coffee I have found that the 6 cup size will make about 3-4 mugs latte style whereas the 4 cup makes about 2-3.

Great Pot, Devastating Instructions
I was delighted to receive this moka pot; it looks even better when you see it physically. I sat down to read the manufacturer's instructions and it wasn't long before my joy turned to dismay upon reading this section: "This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge." You see, this is my first ever moka pot. I have no experience of making coffee with one, and the only knowledge I possess is that it makes coffee. Had I known I needed to pass a barista exam to operate it, I would never have bought it. Furthermore, my memories of my late father have been forever changed. I grew up believing my dad was a “typical Virgo”: methodical, precise, rule‑following. A man who read instructions, respected boundaries, and would never knowingly operate outside his authorised parameters. Only now, thanks to Bialetti’s manual, I discover he was apparently a renegade who operated a moka pot without the required experience and knowledge. This revelation has shaken my understanding of him, my childhood, and the zodiac as a whole. No one warns you that buying a coffee maker might rewrite your family history. I’ll never recover from the emotional shrapnel of discovering my dad was a moka‑pot outlaw.

Great coffee pot
I got into the habit of making coffee in this manner whilst holidaying in Spain recently and using these at the AirBnb's I stayed at. This little pot does the business, for me it's only a single cup, so I end up making two ! Coffee is very nice, it does not leak. Works great on my induction cooker, I have it set on heat setting = 6, takes a little bit longer, but I don't like my coffee burnt. Easy to clean, grinds go straight onto my blueberries.
