Our Story, For My Daughter: Memory Journal Through Childhood for the First 18 Years Together

I stumbled across this book by accident when I was looking for a gift for my niece for her 16th birthday and had to treat myself and my daughter. This IS not a baby record book. Customers who want a baby record book need to buy ... well a baby record book! This book is split down in to sections for each year of your child's life asking the same questions each year so you can build up a picture of their childhood until finally you give them the completed book for their 18th birthday (... there's also a version if you have a son with the same questions in but with a more boyish colour scheme). My daughter is four in a few weeks but luckily I've kept a Word doc with memorable dates and mile stones plus I have tons of photos and a photobook for each year of her life so I have been able to complete the first three years (birth to one / one to two and two to three) easily. It has been wonderful looking back and I hope my daughter is pleased with the result. There's a tiny space for the following questions : A few of your favourite things A few of my favourite things Where we live Who we live with Ailments this year Half a page for the following : For the record (I've used this for Christmas no 1, top grossing film, football premiership winner, prime minister etc) What you are like Things you have done and said Things that have happened in the world this year Adventures we have had this year Adventures I would love to have with you in the coming year My hopes and dreams for the next 12 months My predictions of what you will be like when you grow up A full page for: How I feel about our year together A full blank page (I've used this to write extra bits and also printed out mini photos to stick in) Plus space for a small photo As you can probably tell I love to write but the amount of space you have to fill isn't daunting even for someone who isn't big on writing. Plus I've used small writing to squeeze more in but you can always use large handwriting to fill the space. I think this is a lovely idea and it would make a wonderful gift to a mum with a new baby. Even when time is tight with a newborn you could jot notes on a post it for each section and complete the book at a later date when time isn't such an issue. Off the back of this I've also bought "Dear Mum From You To Me" for myself to complete to give to my daughter and also one for my mum to complete for me (which will evensually go to my daughter) plus the Dad version for my dad ... much more writing required here and much more challenging questions but I'm looking foward to writing in mine and reading the books my parents complete. All in all my daughter is going to have quite a bit of bedtime reading ready for her when she grows up.

Such a sweet keepsake book. I’ve got one for my son too. A great way to briefly capture lovely intimate moments from each year and add a photo. I also liked the bump to birth book in same range.

This is a beautiful book.

Just an amazing idea I so wish I had known this sort of thing existed when I had my children as I was really impressed with it. Basically there are different sections for you to note memories of your child.. Your dreams for them etc and on their 18th Birthday you give it to them. What a gift! One I would have loved to receive and also one I wish I could have given my children. I suppose it is only as good as the parent that writes in it but for a few moments everynow and again you would be creating the most amazing present I think someone could receive.

Reading the reviews I thought it sounded like an ideal gift for my friend who is having a baby. She loved it. It is a very nice book & it doesn't mean u have loads of writing to do, it has nice little sections for each year. May get this again for other friends as everyone thought it was lovely.

This book is beautiful. Only just discovered it so going to have to think back a few years! I bought it as I wanted to start asking yearly questions on birthdays and have somewhere to write them, which the notes page is perfect for.

This is a lovely book which follows on from the pregnancy journal by the same company. It has a journal section for each year up to 18 with space for you to write observations, memories and hopes for your child as well as room for a yearly photo. The book has a quality feel with colourful illustrations and nice layout. If you had the bump to birthday journal this is a perfect follow on or it could easily be used as a stand alone journal.

This is the perfect gift for anyone with a new born. Fill out each year and gift to your daughter when they turn 18. It's something I'd have loved as I can't remember my childhood very well. My partner thought the same as he would not have something to remember his mum by. Definitely worth every penny to write those memories down and to then look back on.

I have two of these, one for each of my daughters. I write in them every month or so. It’s my favorite keep sake for them so far. I gift to all my friends with daughters.

I am in LOVE with this journal. I first bought the bump to birthday pregnancy and first year journal that is made by the same people. I fell in love with the theme and quality of the book. When I came across this book I really liked the idea of documenting our time together. I spent forever searching for the perfect journals and wish someone had a detailed review video for me to watch before I made my purchase so I decided to make one for anyone in the same situation. There are very few book/diaries out there a father can use to reflect on his daughters life from the beginning. As there are plenty of diaries for mothers to fill out, this one can be either parent My only complaint is the way it is written and the organization could be a little different but over all is very nice. It is much easier to keep small notes throughout the year and at the child's birthday fill in the information. This will help you organize your thoughts and have better flowing story each year of your child's life.
