I got my 6 yr old nephew the large kids as he is roughly the same as your son just a bit smaller, I didn't rate these, I find them very poor. My nephew whore them once at the local skate park and when he fell the stitching in the knee pad all started to come out. I would suggest the bullet pads as those are more comfy and better quality.

My daughter is 9/10 and petite and i took the largest. If she is a big girl then i would not suggest this product
