Q: Will this be good for the new nintendo 2ds xl? Will ot work?

Yes. 100% it will work. Nintendo only lists up to 32GB as being compatible because only up to 32GB cards come formatted with the FAT32 file system. But you can format up to a 2TB storage device with FAT32. You just need to format it on a PC before use with a program like Win32 Formatter. I have the same model in 128 in my 3DS.

Q: is it okay to fill the card all the way up or should you leave a little space on it for defragmentation,, etc ? if so, how much?

Depending on use, the hardware might not allow it to "fill" up. In a dash cam it will just roll over and overwrite itself. In a camera, it will fill up. As to defrag... I have never defraged a solid state device. If I felt it was going bad, I download the media to a file on my hard drive, reformat the solid state device and then if necessary move the data back to the media card.

Q: how do you save things to this and move things from your tablet onto in?

in 'Settings' go to storage .. in storage you will see the SDCARD listed .. tap on anything above sdcard, because that is your onboard storage area document/images/audio etc .. Tap on what you need, image or file, once it highlights it should give you the option of copying or deleting .. you want to copy, or move, so go with that option then search for sdcard, to transfer it to .. you may want to even create a new folder, with name you can remember on the sdcard before moving or copying files .. you can also do it after you've copied or moved .. you can copy or move multiple files .. ~hope that helps
