Q: Would these clip onto a curtail pole? Thanks!

They do fit tightly but not sure they could stay stable on a round pole (probably slide off). If you want them to clamp round the pole the pole would have to be thin.

Q: Would these clamp work for vinyl backdrop?

I've used these for about 1 1/2 years, they started to get fractures on them and just last week broke and flew straight at my face as I was setting up a backdrop. Luckily it didn't do too much damage, but if you're working around people/clients I would advise against these. I strongly advise getting a metal clamp, more like a 'bulldog' clip. You can get them for the exact same price and I wouldn't take the risk on these again.
