Completely satisfied by this choice.
If 'completely' satisfied, why 'only' 4 stars for durability? That's me hedging my bets, really, as I've only had the chair for 2 days. I think it is REALLY well made, tho', and cannot foresee any durability issues arising any time soon. Why 'only' 4 for 'support'? Well, 4 is pretty darned good - and it is very comfy and supportive - but there is always room for improvement such as adjustable lumber support etc - ie it ain't 'perfect', but it is lovely... There are LOTS of chairs out there in this price range, and I'm sure many others are equally good, but we ultimately chose this one due to the largely very positive reviews and its aesthetics. We are not disappointed. FEATURES: This chair has a significant advantage over most others in this price range of having an independently reclining backrest which is controlled by a gas ram and operated by the button on the side of the seat base. To operate this, first make sure the WHOLE seat is locked in its upright position (by pressing INWARDS) the height-adjusting lever, then press in the recline button whilst reclining your body back on the backrest - it will move smoothly and remain in whatever position you want when you release the button. (This button operates the gas ram via a cable - it presses on the control button on the end of the gas ram and, if this doesn't work easily - see if that needs adjusting; it's exactly like the cable control on a bike brake lever - you adjust the length of the outer cable. Easy.) To return the backrest, simply lean forward (to remove pressure on the backrest) and press the button - it'll hiss back smoothly... The WHOLE chair can also 'rock' backwards by pulling OUTWARDS the height-adjustment lever, and then you can adjust the tension in that 'rock' - ie how easily it is to lean back and make it 'rock'. You CANNOT lock the whole chair in this recline - it works against spring pressure, so just gives that nice relaxing rocking motion that's so pleasing now and then! Finally there's the height adjustment, again via a gas ram - pull the height-adjustment lever UPWARDS and the chair will smoothly drop if you are sitting on it. Raise yer bum and pull again and it'll smoothly glide back up. ASSEMBLY: No issues at all - it's common sense. The only tool - a hex key - is supplied. One teeny issue was initially trying to align one of the armrest screw holes; the armrest has 2 screws through the seat base, and one in the backrest ('cos it needs to pivot on that one). The screw 'receivers' on the backrest & base are raised round collars so the armrest actually fits neatly over them and locates there before the hex screws are bolted down. I found one side tricky to align at first - when I got the armrest over one collar, the other one was fractionally not lined up and wouldn't fit over. After a few attempts, I tried it the opposite way around; I positioned the other one first - blimey the second one now went on ok. AESTHETICS: Lovely finish to the PU 'leather' - it isn't that nasty shiny heavily-overgrained pseudo-leather plastic at all, but a lovely matt/satin, delicately grained soft finish which looks superb and could easily pass for real leather. Although soft, it also feels nicely thick so I have no worries about durability. All the other components were very solid and very well finished - it really does look like a high quality chair; there is no signs or indications of 'cheapness' at all. Any 'CONS'? Well, it was bought for my mum-in-law who plays on-line Bridge, and - whilst she absolutely loves the chair - she did wish that the backrest could be slightly more vertical so as to still be in contact as she works the keyboard - (she leans forward when 'dealing' cards... :-) ) That has just lit a lightbulb - the bracket for the end of the gas-ram is very easily removed and if I drill a couple of extra holes in it I'll be able to reposition it, say, a quarter or half-inch further towards the back of the seat base - that'll push the backrest forward. It won't matter if it's slightly TOO upright then as - of course - it's adjustable using the side button. Where's my drill...

Easy to assemble and extremely comfortable
I just love this office chair, it arrived today and was well worth the wait. The only tricky part I found was inserting some of the wheels into the sockets. The manual said to just 'pop' them in - fat chance. I had to use brute force and cooking oil to jam 2 of them in. For a 5ft 4 woman barely weighing 9 stone this was like a mini work out. Took me ages, I was sweating and cursing but it all worked out in the end, got all 5 of them all in. The chair itself feels very stable, no rocking motion or feeling seasick. The arm rests are not adjustable but fit nicely under my table. The recline function seems to be jammed though... something I did wrong? (scratching my head here), but to be honest it was already positioned correctly for me with the back support so need to adjust the chair back. The height adjustment works perfectly fine, the lever does not require much effort to raise or lower the chair, which was my main concern โ you know how it is when youโre sitting like a lemon on a chair in the office which is either too low or high, and not adjustable due to some other plonker breaking the mechanism and not bothering to tell you. Iโve adjusted the chair height to line up perfectly with the eye line of my large screen monitor on my desk at home, so can now happily work remotely without feeling discomfort or cramp from sitting on my other dining room chairs, which just looked good but offered no TLC or support to my weary joints. Anyway, sitting on this office chair somehow makes me feel super productive, smug and raring to go. Not only does it look good (SEE PICS) it's exceptionally comfortable to sit on for long periods. Padded, soft, warm and cosy - my new bestie. I almost dozed off at one point (probably due to all that exertion trying to shove in those damn wheels) but overall great purchase, fantastic value. If your Boss has told you that you will be working from home indefinitely then invest in this!

I am sitting on this chair right now, writing this review
When I was looking for a chair, I read most of the reviews and questions for a whole heap of them and ended up with this as it ticked all the boxes. So..to answer some of the questions ... 1. Yes.. it does smell a bit, but that's because it's new PU Leather, I'm sure it will fade over time... 2. Assembly instructions could be clearer (see picture) but it was fairly easy, a second pair of hands us useful, but I actually used the chair it was replacing to support it when needed, the most confusing bit is that you have to bolt the back and the seat together as the second step, using the arm rests.. then lean the back forward (beyond upright) to allow you to slot the locking bolt (and split pin) through the piston.. When you put the arms on, you need to make sure the "silver" lugs on the chair are fully recessed into the holes in the arms otherwise the bolts wont fully tighten ... this is actually quite tricky as the bolts are not perfectly aligned, but there near enough with a thump of the palm ... 3. The seat back "button" is relatively firm to push in but works fine. 4. "The Lever" ... This operates the up/down and its like virtually any other chair ... pull up to raise and lower... but the lever does actually move in/out (left/right as you sit) which allows the whole seat to rock (like a rocking chair) ... IN stops it, OUT allows it ... its a very rudimentary operation and does actually feel like its doing nothing ... all its doing is putting a "blocking plate" into the mechanism to stop the rocking. So, now to the chair its self... I am 24st which means I have a big butt and the seat base is ample size which allows my legs to bend naturally at the front.. The seat back has fully variable position so you can set exactly where you want it. Width-wise, again, seems to be ample room to host my ample posterior but the arm rests to just about touch my sides but if I lost a bit of weight would then be fine.. The arm rests could do with being a little longer, I can just about put my elbows on them... As I am sitting on it writing this review, its put my in a fairly good posture and is nice and comfortable right now ... but who knows what will happen over time ... If I remember, I'll come back and edit this review. All I will say is that for ยฃ70 (it was on offer when I bought it) ... its very good value and feels more comfortable than my chair at work which cost over ยฃ500 Hopefully, this (extended) review will help with your decision but, for now, I have no qualms with this chair, and I hope you dont too.. Thanks for reading.

Buy this chair mate
I had an appalling chair for a while so decided to buy this, and I can honestly say that it is a brilliant chair. It is really comfortable and has a lovely look to it, and it's a very good price (I bought it when it said it was in sale, it told me that it would be dispatched in 4 days when it came in stock, some dfs style sale right there) and I'm loving having a chair that supports me properly and gives great comfort. You can put it together by yourself without someone helping, but at the same time you can get to a place without a car, but it makes it an F tonne easier if you have one, but generally the instructions and the assembly is easy. The only negative I've found so far is that the recline feature really isn't great. Not saying it doesn't work, I'm writing this review now at a lovely angel, but it's just not that great as a piece of equipment. When I first put it together I thought the recline was broken ( I dropped the box containing the parts for it and was 90% sure I had ruined it). Turns out it just requires the strength of The Mountain to make it move back, perhaps after a while the piston will get worn in and it will be easy, but pistons are designed to last for years and run in a simple way with nearly no maintenance, so I reckon I'm just gonna have ultimate back muscles in a month or so. It came four days early and it is as good as it promised on here. In a world where computer chairs are priced beyond reason for how cheap and easy they're made, I think this is probably your best bet, would recommend this chair to any one.

Comfy but not without issues.
I posted a review earlier last week which appears to have been removed (as a man of my word I returned to update said review). The package was received in a timely manner, The chair came and looked great in the box. Excited to finally have somewhere of comfort to work (I spend long hours coding) I began building the chair. Unfortunately I was sent two of the same arm, this meant contacting the seller (which after bad experiences in the past I always apprehend). The seller responded within a 24 hour period and was highly apologetic. I was assured this was not a regular occurence and that they would send me a new arm the following day. Honoring their promise the new arm was sent free of charge, instantly and via recorded mail delivery arriving just short of 24 hours after the issue had been dealt with. I have since built the chair and used it for the last day (around 16 to 18 hours of total seating time). The chair is incredibly comfortable for the price (though I only have a ยฃ15 argos office chair for comparison) I have noticed my back is nowhere near as bad as it would usually be. The chair is ideal for someone who is in the mid-price range and wants a comfy chair. I cannot comment on the longevity of the chair as of yet but the leather does seem decent quality for the price. The only issue I have had with the chair itself is that of screw threading, one of the screws was popping out when leaning back in the chair as the thread was not catching on the inside of the chair. I have since resolved this issue by replacing the screw and putting more pressure on the arm as I screwed it in, this seems to be holding together much better as of this moment. The chair does recline to a comfortable point for a change of seating position. I could not recommend this chair however to anyone who is after an "easy build" or whom has no experience building flatpack furniture themselves before. If you are able to build these kinds of things without instructions then it is a great chair, however the instructions for the general public are not well written and do not show clarity between types of screws, not only this but there are only 3 major steps shown in the build process. Whislt the build of the chair is very simple and easy to put together this would possibly not be ideal for someone who just wants a chair and is not very handy with this kind of thing themselves. Breakdown: Pros: . the chair is of a good quality for the price range . whilst there was a small hiccup customer services at CherryTree seem very reasonable and professional . a very good price in comparison with similar chairs . comfortable and somewhat ergonomic design . adjustability works well . customer services for cherry tree are quick to resolve issues Cons: . the instructions are very poor (they do not include some steps at all, and parts are not easily identifiable) . some issues with screws and holes, only minor but if you do not understand how to fix these issues could result in having to send the chair back . from reading over the comments the issue with parts arriving incorrectly may not be as uncommon as they would like me to believe

Poor Quality and Uncomfortable
The title says it all, and really, when it comes to an office chair that you spend all day sitting in, all you want is decent quality and a bit of comfort. Not much to ask. But not what I got. It was a pain to assemble -- all the holes seemed to be slightly out of alignment and the assembled chair still feels wobbly, despite the hours of finagling and elbow grease that went into tightening things up. But worse than the slightly uneasy feeling of sitting in a shaky chair is the discomfort of resting my not inconsiderable bones on a thin (and I mean THIN) layer of rock-hard foam, which has no give and provides no support at all. Don't be misled by the picture, which makes the chair look soft and welcoming and plush. It isn't. Not even close. It's hard, uncomfortable and puts me off my work because it's painful to sit in. And as if that wasn't bad enough, it's just poorly made. The stitching of the PU is inferior and part of the seam at the back was coming away when I took it out of the box. Speaking of which, it was so badly packaged that it was obviously a return that had just been stuffed into its original box and shipped out to the next unsuspecting mug (i.e., me). The previous owner had clearly returned it for the same reasons I've mentioned. Frankly, I'm too lazy to return it after all the hassle of putting it together, but I won't be buying anything that bears the names Cherry Tree or Daal's Home again. I'll probably put up with it for a couple of weeks until my legs can stand it no more and then go to a real store and buy something that's properly made, feels sturdy, and is more comfortable than a slab of concrete. What I won't be doing is buying office furniture of any kind from Amazon ever again. Do yourself a favour and give this one a wide berth.

Absolutely wonderful
I've had my eye on this chair for some time and struggled to justify the expenditure when my old chair was... functional. After about 2 years of looking at this chair, my old one finally didn't cut it anymore, the headrest became loose and wobbly, so I threw it out and bought this one instantly. HOO BOY. The first time I sat in it, I was wowed by just how well I fit into this chair. My lower back feels supported for the first time in years and it RECLINES. Praise be to whatever deity or lack thereof you may have, this chair reclines and it does it well. I can and have fallen asleep in this comfortable piece of furniture SO MANY TIMES over the past week or so because it is JUST THAT COMFORTABLE. I love it. I love my chair. Update: Going into the third month of having this chair now. I can confirm that the padding on the arm rests has begun to sag and deflate a little, but this is no major problem and is to be expected. Aside from this, the chair continues to perform perfectly and provide a significantly more comfortable experience compared to my old chair. Still love my chair. Update 2: After nearly 4 years of use, a house move and a global pandemic that saw me using this chair for anywhere up to 24 hours a day at some points, one of the legs finally gave way. The max weight rating for this chair is 250lbs and I am 265 so it's definitely at no fault of the manufacturer. Admittedly, I've been looking at changing up in the last year or so as my mainly-home-based life in a post-covid world could do with a little extra cushioning (I'd basically flattened out the padding in all areas of this chair and had to use additional material to make it comfortable to sit on). So yeah, if you want a chair that is pretty comfy to start with, has full recline functionality and won't actually break for 4 years or so this is definitely worth the ยฃ150 price tag.

Sent the wrong color.
I received the chair today and for the price it is not bad. It is a little difficult to assemble with no written instructions, just pictures like for a child. I ordered the brown one but when I opened the box and unpacked it, it was black. No way was I going to try and repack it to send back. I guess I will just have to live with the wrong color. If the color had been correct I would have given 4 stars.
