Perfect for my elderly cat. detailed instructions inc. electric plug. Excellent packaging.
I just had to comment on this superb waterfountain. My original fountain gave up the ghost and my poor old cat was back to the old glass dish. I bought a small remote control fountain with a blue light(what for?) - she refused to go anywhere near it and in desperation I opted for this one. To begin with the instructions are very detailed, in plain English and very comprehensive. I set it up as instructed and within 5 minutes she was inspecting it and using it without any problem. It is super quiet(not too much a problem to the cat as she is very deaf!!) I am delighted with it , as is Sheba

🐈⬛🐈⬛ WOW!!! Purrrrrfect for your kitty (or pooch!) 🐈⬛🐈⬛
This is the BEST cat water fountain. Believe me, we've tried 8 different models with our very discerning Queen and ended up giving them away to other cat owners/cat rescues. Our cat does not like noise, this water fountain is so quiet, I was shocked and thought it wasn't working. It is extremely easy to set up and the plug socket wire is quite long, so no problem if you need a little distance from where the socket is to where you want the fountain placed. It comes in two parts which fit together easily, but offers three different drinking platforms for your cat's (or dog!l) preference. There is a nice gentle trickle and it takes 3 litres of water, so very good capacity. The filter is extremely easy to fit, it just slots in. The filter needs to be changed once a month and all parts (apart from the plug, wire and pump component, obviously) are dishwasher safe - how good is that?!!!! So, on the first day of the month, I pour away the "old" water (onto my cactus plants, no waste here LOL), pop the two parts into the dishwasher on a quick 30 min. cycle, change the filter, refill with fresh water, plug back in and away we go! It comes in white and grey, I chose grey although the grey is actually almost black so it looks quite nice and doesn't stand out. No leakage, pump is adjustable via a sliding switch, which alters the flow, I've set the flow in the middle and the pump is reliable, it's the same one that is on my garden water feature which I've had for 8 years. Very quiet operation So happy with this purchase and our Queen actually drinks from it. Purrrrrrfect 🐈⬛

My cats are less than impressed than I am!
I bought this product from Amazon after seeing a couple in use and then researching different models online. After one of my cats had a recurrence of FLUTD, my vet advised me to get a drinking fountain, and while my other three cats do love their water (and one even seems to get so much pleasure from just drinking and drinking) the cat who should be drinking most, doesn't. He sometimes drinks water from the bath tap if you turn it on to a trickle, so I thought getting a fountain would be perfect solution, since cats do seem to prefer running or trickling water. After deciding on this particular model over others, mainly due to the brilliant reviews and the fact most people seemed to think it was quiet, and also the design which would allow several cats to drink at the same time from the different areas, I ordered it - and also a pack of filters from a different supplier on Amazon. I received the fountain and the separate filters within 48 hours of my order, which impressed me. I set the fountain up (after washing all the parts). It is extremely easy to set up, but you must put the filter in the right way round. Incidently, a word about filters: I've read reviews saying people just run these under the tap, but while this may get rid of pet hairs etc. the reason for the filters is that they absorb impurities, and washing a filter under the tap will not wash these away. After setting it up, I was really impressed by the lack of noise it makes. The only noise is the soft sound of trickling as the water runs down the chute from the top level to the bottom. You need to make sure you fill it to the right level or it won't work properly. Once filled, it starts running immediately. My cats were not immediately drawn to it, as some adverts suggest, and didn't notice it at first. however, they all came for a look and while they were all initially quite curious, only two of them have used it for its intended purpose, and then the novelty wore off. The cat it was originally bought for hasn't drunk from it at all to my knowledge. One cat just played with it, dipping his paw in and out and trying to catch the water! I am going to have one last attempt to get them to use it by removing all but one of their water bowls, the idea being if they are thirsty they will use the fountain. However, as I work long shifts and don't get home until 10pm three days out of six, I can't risk leaving them without a source of water that they will actually use, particularly in this warm weather. I'll give it another week then pass it onto a friend who is thinking of getting one! My verdict: great product but my cats might just be too fussy! I would definitely still recommend it as the idea is ingenious, and it really is unobtrusive and quiet. It's also a lot smaller than you might expect, but in my view this is a plus, as it means you can put it pretty much anywhere you want. Cats apparently prefer their water away from their food, so the small size of this product means it doesn't really take up much more room than a couple of water bowls.

Cat Mate Water Fountain - It’s Brilliant!!
We had two issues. Firstly, my cat hated the taste of water from metal bowls. I initially didn't realise this was the reason she drank from puddles and pots, that she found in the garden. One day I decided to change the bowl to a china one. Problem solved...she began drinking from the china bowl. This was successful until we took on a little stray cat. The second issue was he had been used to drinking out of a small stream. Consequently, when presented with a china water bowl, containing still water, he proceeded to tap the water with his paw to make it move like the stream. This made the water in the bowl dirty, a wet floor and my cat not wanting to go anywhere near it! I was spending alot of my time changing dirty water and mopping up the mess! I am delighted to say my problems have been resolved by this Cat Mate water fountain. It’s brilliant. I set it up, remembering to remove the plastic covering from the filter before assembling. (The filters should be replaced monthly. Amazon sell them.) I placed the fountain in the utility room where we have a stone floor. A good test for the motor noise. I filled it with water to the max line and plugged it in. The cord is long, so no worries there. Inside the unit is a dial for the motor speed. Our’s came set to half way. I left it set there. I switched the unit on in the presence of both cats. They sat starring at it as though a mouse might come running out from the top! The motor really is very quiet. I have good hearing and if I bend down and get close enough to the motor, I can just hear a very faint hum. Make sure it does not touch other objects because they will carry the sound. I left the china water bowl in the utility room next to the Cat Mate water fountain. After about 2 hours, both cats were drinking from their new fountain, ignoring their old bowl. It has been a complete success. No more splashing about in the water to make it move, no more wet floor and no more dirty water. Just fresh, clean water all the time. I just need to top up the water every day, wash the plastic parts once a week and replace the filter monthly. Easy! 😃 The cats love it and I’m happy! Since writing this review, I have made a useful discovery with the filters. I went on eBay and bought 500g of loose charcoal pellets that are identical to the 20g of wet charcoal in the filters. If you prize open the lid, wash the filter fabric, replace the 20g of wet charcoal and carefully replace the filter lid, you will have an all singing and dancing filter for the cost of about 15p in total. I wondered how necessary it is to change the filter every 4 weeks, so did a bit of research. I learnt that carbon is a medium for bacteria, as well as removing chlorine. The carbon breaks down the bacteria and removes it. After 4 weeks the carbon no longer works and can hold onto the bacteria. Having discovered this and not wanting to risk my cats' health, I have decided to keep changing the carbon every 4 weeks. Just to be on the safe side. Nothing lost but a bit of time and 15p with my eBay purchased charcoal! Remember also that the pump cannot function properly with a dirty, clogged filter. The filter will restrict water flow towards the pump and you may be under the false impression that your pump is packing up - when actually all is needed is a new/clean filter. Some reviewers have commented on the unit becoming noisy. I've noticed this happens when cat hair gets stuck against the inlet part of the pump. Just remove it and it will be virtually silent again. In August 2019 the unit suddenly stopped working! I removed the end cover of the pump, where the propeller is located. The propeller was motionless. I turned it ever so slightly and it fired into action! Not sure why it stopped, everything was clean inside the pump. Needless to say, all good again now. If your pump does pack up, you can purchase another one, separately from Amazon. They cost about £10. It's July 2026 and with the afore mentioned maintenance, the unit is still as good as new. Hope this helps. It is a great product. 👍🏻

Really good & easy to set up
Really easy to set up, one thing I will say is wash the filter for a couple of minutes, wish I had before switching it on as black bits came from the charcoal and also the water was really cloudy, so had to take apart and clean it, which is really easy, The cat loves it too,! ! EDIT: it's very quiet!

My cats love this!
My cats love this! They really like the running water, and the various levels mean several cats can drink from it at once. Easy to clean when needed, good quality and value for money! Holds a decent capacity of water, so doesnt need topping up all the time. The only downside, and it's more to do with the water quality in my area than the water fountain, is that limescale does build up inside the pump over time, which does effect the pump power. I eventually had to buy a replacement pump after a couple of years, but the part wasn't expensive, and the original pump had been going solidly for those 2 years!

Initially really good but there are problems
I bought this around 8 months ago now and it was wonderful to begin with. It has a large capacity for water and cycles the water well. There’s a small grate on the front of the fountain that allows the water in and blocks a majority of cat hair from ever getting near the filter. Anything that does slip through is caught by the filter and fresh water then goes up into the pump. The fountain is quiet and very simple to set up. Our cats took to it very quickly and we have had no issues with them using it at all. It can be a little tricky to clean as there are lots of corners and crevices a sponge won’t get into but a good scrubby bristled brush will make light work of it. Unfortunately, we have an absolute menace of a cat who has recently figured out that the top part of the fountain comes off very easily. He has learnt to remove the top of the fountain very quickly and once it is off he starts chewing at the plastic inside as well as the motor and filter. As a precaution we have stopped using the fountain as intended and now just use the base of it as a water bowl. We will have to find a new brand where the top is better secured. Having recently caught him in the act I’ve realised how incredibly easy it is for him to pop the top off simply by pawing at it. While this won’t be an issue for most, I wanted to make this review for those who also have very inquisitive cats who may find the little buzzing box inside the water bowl interesting enough to try and investigate. The top of the fountain is not secured to the base at all, it slots in which holds it in place but any upwards force will take it out. When it comes out it takes all the water currently cycling through with it and he has soaked our floors multiple times before we realised it wasn’t just an accident.

Well designed; good value
So far so good - I was very apprehensive about buying one of these as there are lots to choose from and all had pretty mixed reviews but so far I'm very pleased. First of all it's good value - I didn't want to spend a fortune as I wasn't sure how my pets (two large cats and a cockerpoodle) would find this, but it's well built for the price and a simple, well thought out design that's easy to clean - which you will need to do regularly as the inlet holes do clog with hair (from my long-haired moggies). However they obviously do a good job as the filter itself remains pretty clean (I clean the whole unit about once a week or so - literally just empty the water, rinse and wipe then refill again). It's very easy to work on - the top half lifts off and inside is literally just a small aquarium-style pump and the carbon/sponge filter cartridge; the cartridge slot is even "keyed" so you can't put it in the wrong way round. The pump makes a gentle hum but you don't really notice it after a day or so and I leave it running 24/7 - it is important to keep the water topped up though. Another well-thought out design is that you can unplug the power lead close to the unit - a boon for cleaning as you can leave the longer portion of the lead plugged into the wall (mine is routed behind a door and lots of furniture so would be a pain to remove every time!). I've been using it for about a month now and haven't needed to change the filter cartridge yet. Both cats and dog seem to be happy to drink out of it to the extent that I've removed their "regular" water bowls which would get disgusting in no time. I would recommend this to anyone with cats or a smallish dog (10 kilos or less) as long as you're prepared to do a bit of preventative maintenance to keep everything hygienic and in working order.

UK plug only!!!
The fountain came with a UK plug, which is not mentioned clearly in the listing. As I'm in the EU, I'll have to return it.
