Great episode
Problem is I'm taking the episodes out of turn. This sounds like a great connecting link between whatever came before and incredible things that could well ensue.More-than-passible art, characters I care about (even when they don't care about each other), thoughtful action and personalities - this is all good stuff. I'll be coming back for much more of this, just so I can see what came before and after. I admit, some spark is lacking, the kind that distinguish the truly exceptional from the very good. Still, it's very good and I'll be back for more-- wiredwierd

the whole series is worth the money
a great series and i just wanted to add my vote and rating to the product. if you read the other 2 parts, there is no reason you will be looking at the reviews for this one, you will just buy without even blinking.

Splendid
Leo has created an intriguing universe to play in. In Aldebaran, and now Betelgeuse, he takes us through the beginnings of mankinds' colonization efforts. The results may not always be what we imagine they could be.Betelgeuse is the story of Kim, and the mysterious seven who saves her from the Mantrisi. Seven,is from a race of observers who have traveled to study the Mantrisi. The arrival of humans changes the circumstance, and only after a conversation with the Mantrisi do things change. Accounting is not a universal force...This is one amazing book, that is intelligently written and drawn. I found it difficult to put down and look forward to the next volume. Well done Leo!

Time,the great healer.
I was definitely intrigued by the first two volumes of Betelgeuse so was pleased when I finally got around to buying volume 3.I couldn't imagine the ending that actually unfolded.I believed the wounded pair would be left to die and the rest of the crewwould abandon them and leave the planet.However...,that's not what happens.A long time has passed between vol. 2 and vol.3,enough for all injuries to heal and normal life to resume. That's when the mysterious 'monster' in the water revels itself. It turns out that the crew have been observed for the entire timeon this new planet. The 'entity' has been informing and altering the thoughts of some crew members,also...,there is an advance party already there but have kept themselves hidden,as per the directive 'don't let the natives see you oralter their way of life'.Certainly not the conclusion I imagined but quite satisfying non the less.A little less action in this volume but a tying up of some loose ends.Good artwork,as usual, and a reasonable story line.I'm glad I bought the book.

a fine ending to a great series
This book completes the Alderbaran and Betelgeuse series which Cinebook have been printing for the past few years. This is book 6 of 6 that they have published in this series. I have really enjoyed this science fiction series, there are so many great ideas here captured amongst ordinary issues of relationships and love found and lost. I really hope Cinebook will continue with the Antares series ASAP which follows on from Betelgeuse. I thought the ending of Betelgeuse was far more interesting than Alderbaran and really asks lots more questions about the mysteries found on the two planets even if some of the issues shown across all the books so far have now been solved. There is certainly a lot of flesh shown in this last book although it is again edited so as to not upset anyone by showing too much of the female form (crys of "shame" heard from me at any rate) and there were less of the extraordinary new creatures found in the last book. But this is simply great science fiction and a wonderful example of the graphic novel.
