NATURE'S WAYDGL 3:1 (Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice) Digestive Relief, Original, 100 Chewables

Started having very bad wind / pain on my upper left of my stomach every time I ate food, it was unbearable.. Went A&E and was prescribed Omeprazole 20mg gastro-resistant capsules. Took them and it helped but was advised to come off them as they are bad for long term use. Everytime i tried to quit Omeprazole the pain kept coming back worse. Found DGL online and decided to try these. So I started to take DGL 3 times a day to start (6 tablets) along with omeprazole and I started getting diarrhea. Had diarrhea for 5 days, come off Omeprazole and the pain didnt come back much at all, it was very slight but I felt like as soon as I started taking DGL my stomach was finally healing... Omeprazole felt like it was masking the problem and not healing it. So....... I had diarrhea for 5 days and then after that the diarrhea disappeared and my stomach felt alot better. I can now eat with no pain and it has all virtually subsided. Ive been off Omeprazole for over a month now and thanks to DGL things are getting better every day. I would say it was because of the DGL that i am now healing and the pain has gone. I cant highly recommend this product enough... Its AMAZING!!!!!!!!

Really happy with it

Works well to soothe throat as I suffer from LPR. However for me, I have to ensure I chew on it and move it around in my mouth. Leaving the tablet in one place in the mouth leaves a little soreness in that area for me. Hasn't stopped me from using it though as benefit outweighs this minor irritation

I have Gerd and it's vital i get this sort of medication delivered on time. 11 Days since the order with no word on whats happening i have run out of acid reflux medicine. The tablets themselves work well but the unreliability of delivery makes this a hard purchase to repeat buy.

I have been realy ill for years since I had my gallbladder out. Acid reflux , couldn't eat much .I look at one ladies review on here and decided to try these. For four days the acid was burning and I nearly gave in , it's been seven days now and I can eat without problems. I have been on antiacids for years and now I know they were making it worse. I realy recormend these . Just pe prepared that somtimes the acid is worse for a few days till this calms stomach down.

The formulation of this product has changed dramatically and the active DGL extract has reduced from 760mg per 2 tablet serving to 75 mg per 3 tablet serving which is a 15 x reduction !!! The new tablets also taste awful compared to the old and online reviews suggest they are no longer effective at treating GERD and other stomach issues. Surprisingly the packaging of the new formulation is practically identical to the old with the only difference being that the new formulation called “ Licorice Flavored” rather than “Original Formula”. I won’t be buying these again and am now looking for a different product.

Since my last order (which I was very happy with), these tablets have changed and do not taste half as good. Much sweeter and seem less effective. Also, the directions for taking the tablets have completely changed - before, it was take 2 tablets 20 minutes before a meal, and now they say take after a meal. I will stick to the original instructions of taking before meals as this is what tends to be advised online. I don't think I will order these ones again though as I don't like this new formula. I may as well buy the ones from Holland and Barrett (cheaper).

I will just repost my comments to another reviewer here so you can see what went on with me. My doctor had me taking big doses of Omeprazole and Famotidine to address the GERD that I developed at age 57. That seems to be going on with me right now. After taking 40mg per day for 18 months I went to 20 mg per day for a few weeks, then every other day for another week. I was fine at that point but now after a week without taking any I have been getting a lot of acid. I am going to try this DGL, if that does not work I will need to go back to 20mg every other or every day again. My throat is burning much worse than it ever did before I started taking omeprazole. But from what I read you do need to give it weeks to get past the rebound effect. Good luck.Mar 16, 2014 I'm glad you saw my message, you are exactly on track with that plan. I probably stopped the omeprazole a little too quickly, I should have gone to every 3rd day as you say. When you suppress the acid production with omeprazole your stomach generates a greater number of cells to counteract that, then when the drug is withdrawn they all go to town!Within days of writing that I successfully stopped the omeprazole. As I said the rebound was really bad for several days, really scary burning in my throat, I took a lot of tums for several days, then I took just one more omeprazole as I started the DGL, 2 prior to every meal and before bed. Then the acid was completely gone within 2-3 days! Pretty amazing, I was pleasantly surprised. Chew it up slowly, it needs the saliva to digest properly. After the acid went away I just took it whenever I felt a little acid (infrequently) and before bedtime. I still have some of the first bottle. I ordered two more, this stuff is great. I rarely get any acid except sometimes in late morning I tend to slide down off the wedge I sleep on and I may have a little in throat during the last hour or two of sleep. When that happens I chew 2 of these and it does a good job of relief. But generally I don't seem to really need it at this point. Supposedly it promotes healing the stomach and esophagus lining so I will continue to take some minimal amount but usually I forget to now since I typically feel fine.A 7" foam wedge to sleep on is the most effective way to address the GERD, it's clear to me that my esophagus doesn't seal as well as it used to but omeprazole is a ridiculous overkill as far as treatment. The doctor should have suggested trying the wedge first and should have known about DGL, I'm quitting that Doctor!

I have purchase this before. It helps with my infrequent digestive issues. The flavor isn't all that great but it's palatable.

DGL is a great replacement for other acid reducing pills
