I have always loved these knives. I worried these were going to be fake.. but they are not.The box they came in is beautiful too. I almost want to leave them in it and not my new knife roll.... but the beauty of there function overwhelms there virgin state.These are next level knives. Cut with true intention and no compromise. I bought these for my wife, who is a very good cook/chef. Although not professionally trained, she loves the creation and process of all things culinary. These knives are of a superior quality and their inherent sharpness makes for a happier chef who delivers our family even more superb meals every day and with a big smile on her face. I cannot say more than that.

Great knives. Best knives i've ever bought in fact. Incredibly sharp, very well made and kept their sharpness for a long time.I got these maybe 6 months ago or so and since then I am a bit disappointed to say that the 'shun logo' has started to wear off a little on a couple of the knives. They dont go in the dishwasher, so its just from being lightly rubbed with a sponge. Nothing taking away anything from the performance of the knives though.

First off, I'm a fan of Shun. I have 4 others with the same D shaped handle (right hand specific) and it was a huge influence in buying this set. The metal is VG-10 which I've also been using for my work knife for the last 6 years. Holds it's edge very well but may take a little work to sharpen if you let it get dull.The western chef is fantastic. Well balanced in the hand no matter what grip you use.The utility knife is good, but would like the handle to be slightly larger. It's properly balanced, but handle feels small/narrow in my hand. Totally acceptable for what I use it for though.Paring knife is great. My only complaint with it is I wish the handle was shaped for a left handed person as when I use a paring knife I hold the sharpened edge towards my body and the handle D shape is oriented to my fingers instead of the palm of my hand. Even with that said, it's still great.Everything is super sharp out of the box, and at the price I paid, it's a borderline unbeatable deal. I basically got the utility knife for free and half off the paring knife just for buying the chef.

Mein Fazit gleich vorweg: kaufen und selbst ausprobieren! Die Messer überzeugen mich in jeder Hinsicht. Die Verarbeitung ist klasse, der Stahl vom Feinsten.Die Messer liegen gut in der Hand, dabei ist der leicht asymmetrische Griff ein besonderes Feature. Die Balance gefällt mir sehr sehr gut und macht das Arbeiten mit den Messern besonders gleicht. Die extrem hohe Schärfe hält durch den sehr guten Klingenstahl sehr, sehr lange. Mit diesen Messern wird das Schneiden und Vorbereiten zur reinen Spaßveranstaltung.Zu guter letzt möchte ich auch zugeben, dass auch das sehr elegante Design und die schöne Damastoptik ein Kaufargument waren. Ich mag es, wenn funktionale Dinge auch schön sind.

Unos cuchillos profesionales, muy pero que muy afilados, van muy bien y el precio de amazon era de lejos el mejor, lo miré en cuchillerias y eran mucho más caros.

I have been, for a long time, the typical buyer of Germany-made Henckels and Wusthof as I enjoy cooking with proper tools. But these Shun Classic knives are not only the sharpest I have ever used but also beautiful and ergonomic. The fact that on average they are also cheaper than the high end versions of their german counterparts is remarkable. I will have a very hard time justifying what those two companies charge for their products after trying these.
