Now I know why most people use a Dremel
My old mini-drill died and so I looked around for a replacement. When I bought the previous mini-drill I hadn't appreciated that mini-drills are fitted with a collet rather than a chuck and as such only accept a single diameter bit. One of the reasons I opted for a Dremel is that the collet can be swapped for a chuck so it can be used as a drill (for multiple diameters). The chuck is available separately. The build quality is excellent and it quickly becomes apparent why you have paid more for this tool. It is well designed and some of the accessories are fitted with clever mechanisms to both speed up attachment and stop slippage (a common problem I have previously encountered with cutting discs). This model came with a good selection of accessories and having used it for a little while I think that I didn't need to pay more for either a more powerful version or more accessories. My wife has relatively small hands so a factor in the purchase was the size of the tool so that she could also use it. It is a compact design which both she and myself find comfortable to hold.Too early to comment on longevity but it seems well built and given the Dremel reputation I have no doubt that it will last many years.I signed up for the free extended Dremel warranty and was surprised to find then Dremel sending me daily emails. However some of these are useful giving guidance and tips on what is included rather than marketing emails trying to get you to purchase more items.

Fantastic drill for jewellery making
Fantastic drill have been using consistently since Jan and no issues. Very comfortable to use for long periods of time so this is a great option to use for jewellery making. Mainly cut through ceramic and glass and works fantastically well handheld. The workstation for this drill is good too.

Useful tool at decent price
I am new to these things so this is not an "expert review" by any means, I also don't do loads of DIY, and have far from explored all the possible uses.In the small amount of time I have had it it has proven useful for small polishing / cutting tasks, and it comes with a few attachments to get you going which is handy - and good at the price point. One criticism I do have is it does not seem all that powerful, I quite fancied a battery operated unit, but they were significantly more expensive, and I have had some poor experiences with battery powered stuff either having too little Ooomph or the batteries not lasting very long so have gone back to mains power lately.......But this does seem a little weedy to me, not awful, but you cannot apply very much pressure at all before the motor slows and feels as if it is straining, but could be what they are all like, or me expecting too much, makes me glad I went for mains power though as it has more zap than the battery ones (on paper)The storage nox is also a neat touch with room for some attachments and tools.Would recomend

Seems to be a well built useful tool
My first of such tools. I have taken up hobby crafts in my retirement and expect to find this very useful. So far I have used it to cut aluminium and acrylic tubes for models and grind off old paints and sand and polish other things. It is quite weighty and feels well built. It is very easy to change the tool heads once you figure out how the cutting wheels attach to the spring peg. This particular purchase was good value for money for me because it included a sturdy box, a hanging bracket to have it to hand if I want it for regular and frequent use, a few useful choice of tool heads and the long flexible extension bit. I checked it out at B&Q etc and this was priced much better.
