Genius idea - dead handy - no mess - quick clean up!
I spotted this measuring cup in John Lewis some months ago and was about to by three - one for me and one for my sister and my partner. Thought I'd check good old Amazon and hey presto! Much cheaper and prime delivery - no brainer.I've been using it for some months now and I am well impressed with this little measuring marvel! You know when something takes your eye and you think 'Wow! that's brilliant!' this is one of those things.I love kitchen stuff and had to have one of these as it looks cool being retro - it can measure more or less everything you can think of - it's metal - it's lightweight and takes up no space at all and it's easy to clean! So what can it measure and what upto?- English Cups upto 1.5- English Pints to 1.75- American Cups to 1.5- American Pints to 1.75- Millilitres to 400mls- Rolled Oats/Fresh Bread Crumbs to 100g- Dessicated Coconut to 100g- Cornflour/Cocoa to 200g- Ground Almonds/Shredded Suet to 150g- Sugar/Rice to 250g- Lentils/Barley/Peas/Haricots to 250g- Sultanas/Tapioca to 250g- Ground Rice/Currants/Semolina/Raisins to 200g- Custard Powder/MilkPowder/Flour/Icing Sugar to 200gAll weight measurements are in increments of 50g or 1oz. Volume measurements are in 100mls.I've used this loads since I got it and used nearly all the ingredients mentioned and. . .and . . . everything has turned out spot on. It's brill for knocking a quick soup up and baking cakes. The US cup measurements are handy too! No need to dig that stack of US cups out the cupboard!Really like this one, recommended to any keen cooks out there!

A classic
There's a reason these have been around for so long. I remember using one at school in home economics lessons, and my nan had one that was already decades old by that point. It's got a very old fashioned tin-plate feel to it, quite simple and lightweight but perfectly suited to the job it's meant to do. It works well, so why change it?The markings are clear and easy to read, covering everything from rice and flour to sugar and raisins. Obviously not quite as accurate as a scale, but perfectly fine (and much quicker) for day to day use.Tala also make a curry measure for Indian recipes, so that one will be next on my list!

Good, but
Good quality, but after using for a several times, I found a drawbacks of using metal as the cylinder materials. It's too hot to hold if the liquid inside is kind of boiled. Besides, the interval of markings are quite large, say every 100ml, plus it is not a cylinder shape (but like a pyramid) it is hard to estimate the halfway.

Handy
Love this, have had one for years and when it started to discolour replaced with a new one. I find it really handy for measuring rice, cous cous, sugar and so on without having to get the scales out and I wouldn't be without one now.

Fantastic gadget
I like this so much for measuring dry food out and I leave it on display because it’s nice to look at and easy to use . Easy to clean . Very light . Great price and British made . Fantastic. Will be looking what else to buy from Tala. A very personal touch from a great factory.

Simple,Brilliant, Retro - And Made in England
I first spotted these in a shop at a trendy seaside town at close on twice the price these are sold for on Amazon. Whilst both my wife and I baulked at the actual price we loved the retro looks and of course the practicality. So when my wife spotted this on Amazon she bought two. One for her and one for our daughter as she now has the joys of making home food now she has babies to feed.Primarily it is a simple way to measure without using a set of scales. Dry food mostly, but as Tala state on their website you can use it for liquid if you immediately pour it out into the bowl, as this is not leak proof and being tinned steel will rust if left wet. Also, no dishwashers. Hand wash in ordinary soapy water and then dry out. What it is though is easy to use and quick. Old fashioned but brilliant. And best of all made - yes, actually made - in England.

Look after me well and I will serve you for years. I was made in the UK !
Do not understand why people moaning at all about this very useful item. Mine came very promptly ( to replace a vintage model given by a friend) with a charming and informative label with complete care instructions so problems of rusting should not apply. Design has not changed over many years. Liquid ingredients can be measured but bear in mind if you leave to stand it is flagged up the item will leak , but why should you want to when measuring a recipe ? And why would you want to put such a small easy to clean item in the dishwasher ? (It is not dishwasher proof )The price was incredible - I had almost bought an identical item on a flea market for £7.00 which was scratched and slightly rusted - the price of £5.82 delivered was a no brainer. As long as you look after this item will last for years. The firm that make this item are UK based too. No longer will I be messing with converting imperial to American cups. Highly recommend.

a good measure
have been using this cup for years. bought this one as the old ones may need a replacement soon as the measures are fading off due to prolonged use. can't do without it.
