Fortress is a Master Lock
This is a "Master" Lock. I thought the Fortress name was some cheap knock-off, but on the back it says it was manufactured by Master Lock. The actual Master lock that is the same size and specs as this says it is Assembled in Mexico of USA and Global components and this says Manufactured in China. I don't know for sure but Fortress seems to be the cheaper product line for Master. The locks themselves are not identical, the Master lock just looks nicer, but overall the construction looks the same. I've heard it said that Locks really only keep the honest people honest, if a bad guy wants to break in they can get it done no matter what kind of lock you use. If you are really locking up some valuables you should use the best lock you can get and probably need something better than a basic pad lock anyway. I would say if you are just putting a lock on something to keep it generally secured this will work fine.
