Great value, only complaint is wish the pieces were a little heavier and not so easy to accidentally knock over

The Lexibook Chessman Elite is a decent little chess set. I’m still working out the interactive features as a beginner, but it’s fine for basic practice and casual games. The pieces are a bit light, but overall it does the job.

My first Chessman had a fault which I had to return The replacement is excellent. I have previously been using the Millennium Chess Genius (£170) and like the Chessman much better. There is a good choice of levels to choose from, it is easy to tap a square with a light touch to move a piece (not so with the Chess Genius) and it is user friendly. For very good players the ELO of 1800 may not be strong enough (the Chess Genius is 2200 i think) but ELO 1800 is plenty strong enough for me.

As a computer chess game this is excellent, but badly let down by the lightweight pieces that are easily knocked over. I bought a magnetic chess set ( Snocyo) and used the chess men from this to replace the pieces. I had hoped the magnetic bottoms would work on the Lexibook, but unfortunately they didn’t. If you’re buying the Lexibook, be prepared to replace the pieces. Such a shame the Lexibook didn’t come with magnetic pieces.

Was refunded on first model that didn't arrive so ordered this one which doesn't function properly so want to send it back

Jeu de qualité et complet ! Certes les pièces sont un peu petites mais après quelques parties on s'y habitue et on distingue suffisamment les différentes pièces. Plusieurs modes de jeu mais il peut paraître difficile d'utilisation, configuration peu ergonomique, il faut garder le mode d'emploi sous la main. Je recommande fortement, un bon mix entre le jouet et le jeu, une activité intelligente qui apporte suffisamment de modernité pour la rendre attrayante, peu importe l'âge.

I love having this chess board when I want the tactile feel of pieces when playing a computer. There are lots of difficult levels, different modes, and clever features like showing where all of the pieces should be positioned on the board (if you happen to hit the board and mix up the pieces). The only thing that would make it better is if the pieces had more weight. They work fine, but they are very light. The good thing is that you can use different pieces since the board works by pressure and not sensing the pieces themselves. It's an intelligently and elegantly designed board. You'll love it.

Entry chess computer for myself, pieces are plastic and non magnetic so be aware of that, chess computer performs well and with different personality types (balanced, defensive, aggressive and risky) 64 lvls of play, blitz level capable and good for a challenge and since the price tag is right perfect for anyone wanting to delve into the world of computer chess! Will offer a good challenge for anyone up to around 1700 elo i would say out of the box at the tournament level, also has fun levels for beginners where computer makes very human errors (eg. Blundering their queen or chessman)

Als ich den Artikel erhielt, war ich im ersten Moment etwas geschockt. Die Ware wurde nur in der eigenen Verpackung versendet, auf einen zusätzlichen (stabileren) Umkarton wurde verzichtet! Da ich aus eigener Erfahrung weiß, wie Pakete in den Verteilzentren häufig behandelt werden, befürchtete ich das Schlimmste. Zum Glück hatte das Gerät den Transport aber unbeschadet überstanden. Für den Betrieb sind entweder 3 Batterien AA (Mignon) oder ein Netzadapter ( 9V, 300mA= , positives Zentrum) erforderlich. Beides muss separat erworben werden. Das Batteriefach an der Unterseite ist mit einer kleinen Schraube verschlossen. Auf diese kann man aber verzichten, der Deckel des Fachs ist zusätzlich mit einem Schnappverschluss ausgestattet. Die Bedienung des Schachcomputers ist relativ einfach, lediglich bestimmte Einstellungen sind aufgrund eines fehlendes Displays etwas kompliziert. Die leichtverständliche Bedienungsanleitung (französisch, deutsch, englisch, spanisch, portugiesisch, italienisch, holländisch) sollte man in Griffnähe behalten. Die Sensoren im Spielfeld sind sehr empfindlich und reagieren bereits auf leichten Druck. Der mitgelieferte Figurensatz lässt leider optisch zu wünschen übrig. Ich persönlich finde die Figuren zu mickrig und potthässlich! Deshalb verwende ich einen eigenen Satz Schachfiguren, den ich noch von einem alten Spiel übrighatte. Über die Spielstärke des Computers kann ich als Gelegenheitsspieler nicht viel sagen - ich verliere sowieso meistens gegen eine derartige Maschine. Generell macht das Spiel mit diesem Gerät Spaß, Profis werden aber wahrscheinlich höhere Ansprüche stellen. Man muss das Ganze aber auch unter dem Aspekt Preis betrachten! Leider ist das eigentliche Spielfeld mit einer Kantenlänge von knapp 20 Zentimetern nicht sonderlich groß. Deshalb hier zum Abschluss noch ein kleiner Tipp: Wer noch ein großes Schachbrett mit vernünftigen Figuren besitzt, mit dem er gerne spielt, kann den Schachcomputer etwas zweckentfremden. Dafür stellt man das Gerät ohne Figuren neben das normale Schachspiel. Um nun dem Computer die eigenen Züge mitzuteilen, welche man auf dem alten Brett ausführt, tippt man vorsichtig die entsprechenden Sensorfelder mit dem Finger an. Die Züge der Maschine liest man am Gerät ab und setzt sie auf dem analogen Feld um. Mit dieser Methode simuliert man quasi die alten Schachcomputer aus den achtziger Jahren, die häufig nur über Eingabetasten und Display verfügten und einfach neben ein normales Schachbrett gestellt wurden. Fazit: Ein gutes Gerät zu einem relativ günstigen Preis, für Gelegenheitsspieler und die Partie zwischendurch völlig ausreichend. Aufgrund des geringen Gewichts und der kleinen Maße auch gut für die Reise geeignet.
