Dylon Wash & Dye Fabric Dye for Clothes & Soft Furnishings - Intense Black / Velvet Black

Dylon Intense Black is a reliable choice for achieving a truly deep black on clothing. As a goth who favours a consistently dark wardrobe, the results were really impressive! The application process was so straightforward. You just put it in the washing machine like a regular wash, and let it do it's thing. The dye effectively revitalised my faded black garments to a rich, intense shade. I even managed to dye a white dress jet black, and it came out perfectly! For those seeking a super simple to use product that delivers a proper, lasting black, this dye is definitely a worthwhile option. Consistent coverage, intense black, and just put it on a wash cycle to apply. I love it! I've included a photo of the dress in question, with how it looked before on the bottom left of the photo.

I have tried the barrel/ plastic pot dylon thingee and, well, colour wasn't as intense as I wanted. But this was all singing and dancing and the intense black was/ is intense black. And it seems to have reinvigorated my jeans, they look really good and I am guessing I got more actual product in the sachet compared to the pot thingee. Also didn't need to add salt? Unless it was in the sachet? Dunno. Admittedly the process in total took six hours in the washing machine. Three hours for the dye job then the same to get rid of excess dye. But the result was worth it, absolutely perfect, spot on, exactly what I wanted, so no complaints. I would recommend the sachets over the plastic pot thingee s. I think you get more product, and I have had a perfect result.

Bought this to add some more life into my very faded black denim skirt and shorts! My jeans had streaks after only a few washes so wanted to fix this too. They recommend one whole packet for 500g (about one pair of jeans) to full colour but as I was only retouching, I thought I’d add a black top that had a bleach mark on and a green cap I don’t wear as I don’t like the colour too! For reference, these are all a UK size 10. You can see the before and after photos but I’ll summarise below. Shorts & skirt: very impressed with how these turned out! Look brand new! Jeans: you can still see some of the faded streaks from before but they are less obvious and overall I’m pleased. Next time I’ll use a whole packet and just the jeans to get better results. Top: slight improvement on the bleach mark but not enough to wear sadly. It did say on the back of a packet that it could not guarantee fixing bleach stains. Cap: love how this turned out! Really liked how the writing wasn’t affected! Has a green tinge but I did have a few items in the wash. Will dye again another time with other items. The last two photos were taken after an empty wash of the washing machine to clean it. As others have mentioned, it does require a lot of machine washes - once to clean the clothes, then to dye them and then to wash the excess dye out of the clothes and clean the machine. It doesn’t say to run the machine empty to clean it but I did anyway. This can decrease the environmental benefit of not buying new clothes slightly. Even after I put the machine on for a quick wash when it was empty, there was a lot of dye left in the rubber seal which you can see so be warned! I managed to clean this with a paper towel though and then did a dark wash and all of my clothes were fine. Overall good product and I do recommend! Fewer the items the better but as you can see form my pictures you can put quite a few items in and get decent results! I will update my review after a few wears and washes to see how well the dye stays.

Easy to use and no mess. The instructions recommend not trying to dye too many items as the colour might not be as dark. I had some slightly faded black linen trousers which I wanted to restore to their original dark black. The recommendation was to limit the weight of the fabric to 500g. I had two pairs of black linen trousers, which, together, weighed approximately 600g. I decided to take the risk as the weight was 100g more than recommended. I used the washing machine - put the whole packet of dye in the drum and then the clothing on top. 40 degree wash. The trousers came out perfectly and were restored to an 'intense' black. The advice is to then run the machine empty, with detergent, at 40 degrees to ensure that no residue is left. I was so pleased with the restored colour that I have just purchased more dye - another pack of black and a navy blue to restore the colour of further items of clothing. Great value for money and a much cheaper option than purchasing new trousers. (Unfortunately, I haven't included any photos as I should have taken before and after images).

I’ve used this multiple times to dye my faded black clothes back to deep black so they look new again. It’s a brilliant product, so easy to use and lasts for ages. The dye doesn’t transfer when washing and is compatible with any cotton type materials.

I purchased this item to dye a black dress which had faded back to black. At the same time i added a white top which had a few marks on thinking this would be nice in black. The dress dyed beautifuly but the top came out Apicot. I contacted Henkle and have filled in their form and supplied all the photographs required. They in return have fobbed me off saying i used the wrong material? when i asked them to show me where it says that on the packed i was pointed to a part that says some materials may not take or could be patchey, no where does it say the colour will change completly. I wanted this top to go with a red skirt so obviously being Apricot it wont do so. I feel very let down by this company and will not have to look for another top.

Il colore è bello vivo e pieno, l'ho usato con un paio di scarpe di tela celestine davanti e ai lati(che avevo già provato a tingere con i pennarelli...son venute pessime), e bianche dietro.Le ho lavate a mano dentro una vaschetta, usando il solito procedimento della tintura a mano, nonostante sia una tintura per lavaggio in lavatrice.Son venute benissimo, l'unico problema sarebbe di farle immergere del tutto nella tintura senza tralasciare nessuna parte e non lasciarle al sole, perciò uscire ad asciugare la sera e riprenderle il giorno dopo prima che il sole possa rovinarle dinuovo.
