This a nice " toy " it can take a little while ...
This a nice " toy " it can take a little while to heat up and get running but it will go. It depends on temperature difference to run so to cooler the ambient temperature the better it works ( I am going to put mine in the fridge before running it to see what happens ). Don't oil the piston ! It will create too much of a seal and create to much internal pressure for it to run ( but easy to take apart to remove the oil ). The only reason it doesn't get a five is because the wooden base is unsealed and needs a coat of varnish. Good value and prompt delivery so whats not to like.

A fidget spinner for anyone interested in mechanics, engineering or physics
It does take a while to heat up and it doesn't last long. Can't really restart it right away because pouring alcohol on a hot bottle is not the safest thing to do but it is very entertaining and cool looking.In fact it looks so nice that I decided to use it as an office decor. I painted the wooden base, black, bought EWEI'S HomeWares 3 Floating U Shelves, Espresso Finish and placed the little engine on top of the small shelf. The engine base pads fit right in. I decided to place a trio of inexpensive watches underneath to complete the look. It sits on the wall right over the computer monitor and gives off a machine age retro look, which I really like. Neat affordable Stirling engine!
This thing is awesome! It works as advertised.The lamp is a little difficult to get burning, but once it is going this thing will start up and keep running.The little generator also is good for showing conversion of kinetic energy to electrical energy. However, the band sometimes gets off the pulley (easy to fix).It runs, it is cheap, it looks cool, it illustrates concepts. What more do you want?

It works OK the cut out for the alcohol container is a little Annoying to deal with. The connecting rods, flywheel and crank were cheaper made than I've seen on other Stirling engines this size.

It works as advertised. I would give it 5 stars but I had to remove the generator/light and move it because the belt was too loose, falling off. I think it is pretty cool. You can buy alcohol fuel at hardware stores and it burns very clean.
