How many months/ years will the battery work for? my original polar m430, which i loved and served me well, died two years after i bought it.

Husbands watch he’s only had M. 430 a couple of months it replaced the M 400 he lost in woodland the battery lasted about 5 years and probably would of lasted a lot longer .. so he has purchased the next version up because of the ideal performance it doesn’t need charged more than once a week and he runs and does a lot of sport he’s done 60 miles so far this month so it certainly is worn all the time . I think you may have been unlucky with your previous wAtch . Hope this helps

can I connect any ant+ heart rate strap or does it have to be a polar branded one?

The Polar M430 will only connect to a Polar Bluetooth heart rate sensor, it is not ANT + compatible

Does it allow you to check your maximum speed during/after a run on the watch itself or only via the app?

I use mine for cycling but will be the same for running. You have to set up your sports profiles e.g. running; cycling etc and for each of these you can select a bewildering set of different data items to view on 3 screens max (I think) on the watch. One of the data items listed for display is maximum speed/pace. So you can see this 1. on the watch when running 2. on the watch when finished via Diary 3. on the Polar Flow app after syncing with a smartphone and 4. on your Polar Flow web account itself To see data on the watch when running may require 20/20 vision however since all the screens/letters/numbers are quite small.

Why is this cheaper than on the Polar website?

I am not aware and also I am not sure about the main reason. Product arrived as it was bought for official store.
