How it Works: The Husband (Ladybirds for Grown-Ups)

I bought this not having a clue what it would be like, and I’m giving it to my hubby for his birthday - my daughter and I were in hysterics. Honestly - every husband needs this book, it’ll bring many laughs and is just fantastic!

This book made me laugh out loud on every turn of the page - I love it! Funny gift

Bought as abit if fun for my hubby

I purchased this book for my wife: I thought, "give her a treat" she does after all deserve it. She has told me so often that I have "no idea" that I am "insensitive" and barely able to hold a conversation and so, I thought that as I obviously do not understand her, perhaps she should try to understand me. I left it propped on her pillow for when she came to bed. Sadly she didn't and so I spent 20 minutes reading it myself. Not since I read "grumpy old men" have a found a book so familiar to my persona and other men of my era. My wife stubbornly refuses to read the book, but thankfully when she castigates me in future, at least I can demonstrate that I have tried to get her to understand. It is well written and a must for any newly weds. My advice to those men about to embark on the path to matrimonial bliss, is get her trained quickly and this book will definitely help in that respect.

This book is very funny, from the "other titles in the series" on the back (which change for each of the "new" ladybird books) to the observations inside. Using some of the original artwork and phrased to resemble the traditional ladybird books, "How it Works - The Husband" will raise a smile with anyone who remembers the style and culture of the original books and wants to understand how a husband should work. A great stocking filler or someone who is about to acquire a "Husband"

Lots of publicity about these revamped Ladybird books so bought a set. All quite good - not disappointed. Funny and witty and a good querky present.

I bought this a joke for my husband but it really amused me too. It's written in the style of the old ladybird books that those of us of a certain age remember. It also describes some of the funny little foibles our lovely husbands have... in fairness to mine he wasn't guilty of them all.....he made me write that bit. It did make him chuckle and we've shown it to some of our friends who also enjoyed it. It's one that you tend to pick up and re read again and again. Only takes about five minutes to read it all. Makes an amusing gift for the man in your life and he will swear he doesn't do half the things in the book even though you know better.

Aunque tardó en llegar, la guía es divertida y las ilustraciones son muy bonitas. Como regalo es bastante original y en mi caso ha gustado mucho.

I read it in few mins, but how true it is!! Laughing is guaranteed from the beginning as it starts as "This is a husband. He may look complicated, but he is in fact very simple. He runs on sausages and beer"

Umso lustiger ist, dass der gleiche Verlag nun seine Klassiker-Reihe selber auf den Arm nimmt und diverse ironische Bücher im Retrolook aufgelegt hat, die mit dem alten Ladbird-Book-Look spielen. Hier nun als "The husband", in dem die Verhaltensweisen der Ehemänner auf's Korn genommen werden. Wunderbar im Fifties-Stil illustriert, ein tolles Geschenk, das zudem nicht allzu viel kostet.
