A great game from a great franchise
Final Fantasy X as most other Final Fantasy games (if not all) is great fun. It keeps up with the FF tradition of having a complex and deep story with dynamic characters, whilst at the same time having a great gameplay. This is the first FF game if I am not mistaken that had voice actors and so now you get to hear the characters talk. The story is set in Spira, a magical world where a God-like creature named Sin appears every now and then and causes destruction. The inhabitants of the land eventually came up with a way to temporarily defeat Sin. And that is the summoners. The summoners travel through the lands, with their guardians, praying at the temples so that the legendary aeons (summons) would lend help in defeating Sin. Tidus is a youth who came into contact with Sin by accident during one of his blitzball games (a popular sport in Spira) and gets mysteriously transported to a place he doesn't know, only to find out that his home city was destroyed thousands of years ago. He joins summoner Yuna, who is a daughter of a great summoner Braska, who defeated Sin 10 years ago, along with her guardians. Sin is back once again, and now it is up to them to stand up to it.The game starts off rather slow, with a lot more cutscenes as opposed to action, but it eventually picks up and becomes a great deal of fun. Closer to the end of the game the player gets access to the airship and a chance to revisit the places on the world map and to complete an enormous variety of sidequests and other challenges, such as blitzball tournaments, optional aeons, chocobo racing and monster arena, getting to fight some of the most powerful monsters out there.I would highly recommend FFX to hardcore Final Fantasy fans, as well as to those who are only starting to find interest in this amazing franchise.

not one of my favourite but still good playing
This review are intent to people who did not bought a PS2 at all and skipped that game or people who want have a go at what we call now retro game.Bought it recently (1/06/2013) cause it was he only game with final fantasy 10-2 and 12 I did not play. Additonally I wanted to know more about Tidus and Jetch's background after I played Final Fantasy Dissidia. I did not want the HD remix cause I think like many HD remix you pay more money for less content. The graphic are quite good and if you play like me on a PS3 with a 32" LCD TV (LED backlight), it is not bad at all. OK here more details of the game if you have not play it yet and decided if it would be OK. Then here some thoughts:- If like me you want less technology and more medieval environment then FF 10 is in the middle of it.- It is the first game where the original director/producer Hironobu Sakaguchi did not have much input on the game despite being credited as executive producer. The result of it is an Asia ancient style environment- The story is good (here the input of Hironobu) and the characters are loveable.- The game is way better than Final Fantasy 13 (how can't you not buy it).OK it's an old game but just ask yourself. Why Sony and Square-Enix re-releasing an HD version of this game (except for the obvious reason they want more money for little risk)?By the way my favourite Final Fantasy (main series) is Final Fantasy 6.

An average addition to the Final Fantasy Franchise
Like usual plenty of side quests to do like with all final fantasy games, however the story and linear path of this game was far too short. By the time I got to the end I found myself only barely half way through my progression chart (called "sphere grid") and didn't have half the spells that I wanted. Meaning you could quite literally skip half the game by following the storyline and not doing any side questing. A little disappointing really. But all in all it is still final fantasy in looks and feel and is a decent addition to the franchise.

Utter boring tripe
I honestly tried to enjoy this game. I stuck at it for about an hour and just gave up in frustrated boredom. About two days later, on a day off with nothing to do, I tried to get into it again. Once again after about an hour, even This Morning with Schofield started to look interesting.. It reminds me of the games that came out on the old consoles of the '90s, you watch the video for about ten minutes, then you get to have a play, win the fight and then have time to go out and make a coffee whilst the next pile of tripe kicks in...I have never been so utterly bored. In fact for the time I put in to try and "get it" I actually feel cheated.I tried to enthuse my two kids and they just didnt like it either.Perhaps I am missing something here.

Final Fantasy X - Let's hope it is final
Jeez! If you want a movie buy a movie. If you want a game buy a game. If you want a good RPG with cool graphics ruined by the enforced watching of some kitsch tale, FFX is for you, matey! It's so dull sitting through all the slowly delivered 'story'. "Where's the skip button?!" - sadly it's omitted. On the admirable RPG side, however, I found the turn based system very good. Having all the time in the world to fight means you don't have to immediately react but can be more sophisticated about who attacks/magics and when - actions determine turn order as well as HP etc effects.Overall, get yourself a dedicated RPG if that's your thing. I've been recommended Balders Gate...[I can't explain why all the other reviews seem to rave about FFX - did they program it?]

amazing!
Well my subject line sums this game up I guess. I was waiting so long for it, and it is a worthy addition to my FF collection. You can tell they have put so much effort into the graphics and the storyline its a real pleasure to play.Yet again I have been playing until the early hours of the morning without realizing, and that I think is the sign of a great game.If you have ever played a game in the Final Fantasy series, then what are you waiting for? this is a must buy!If not it could be a worthy start to the world of RPG.
