Awesome speaker- hefty price tag
It’s a really cool speaker that sounds great. The light features are really awesome. It’s def not a party speaker, it’s more of an aesthetic piece to have in a room but you can def entertain guests with it. It’s really expensive, but if you’re into stuff like this it’s a cool item to pick up.

Waaay to expensive for what it does.
I like Balmuda toaster & kettle. But this speaker is overpriced. There are 3 settings for the lights, but one of them has unsettling sounds of alarms that really disturb my dogs. The ambience sound setting is weak, and it doesn't really respond to the music that I play. The sound quality is nothing to brag about.

I wanted to hate it honestly
This speaker is actually pretty great. I almost returned it before even opening it because I felt like the price tag is a little absurd. But then I opened their toaster oven and I was a little too impressed not to try this device.Realistically, you don't need any of their products. They are overpriced in my opinion. But the thing is, they are above a certain level of quality that you can essentially count on getting from this brand. And that is definitely growing on me.Another review said this thing is like a tweeter with no bass or mids. While I agree the mids could use a little help, I could care less about this thing shaking the table like a JBL or some crappy subpar device. The dimensionality in the sound quality is outstanding, the highs are fantastic(play live concerts on this thing) and even though I feel the mids dragging behind a bit - as someone who literally never uses bluetooth speakers like this because I just can't bare it, I will be definitely using this one.I originally bought this for some room ambient tracks and the dim lighting for mood. And although I haven't officially set that up yet, I think I'm going to be pleased with that setup as well.So if you don't need it, don't get it. But if you could care less about the price, and have a want like I did, I think you might be hard pressed to turn this thing down.

The Speaker that is not worth the money.
I was curious about the sound quality after reading many of the Amazon reviews of people who were given this for free, some folks were thrilled with the audio quality. The speaker sounds like an inexpensive ‘tweeter’, zero bass, close to zero mid-range.Sounds like a 1960’s portable transistor radio, and I’m being generous with that comparison. Audio technology advancements over 6 decades are not present in this speaker. While this boasts nice sounding vocals, it’s hit or miss, mostly miss. I was going to compare this to a Marshall Middleton but there really is no comparison, however, If you are looking for a real nice sounding portable unit with warm bass, nice treble controls, decent sound stage, triple the battery life, an impressive overall sound experience for $299, check out the Marshall Middleton.Back to The Speaker, instrumentals sound ok at mid volume. Going through dozens of music samples, giving several genres a try it was painstakingly futile. Surprisingly, some EDM sounded ok at low to mid volume and created a cute 'light show'.Will this fill an average size room with sound? No, not really. Background music in a medium size room, yes. This unit is a novelty at best. If they remove the speaker and replaced it with longer light tubes, I'd pay $100.It really is a nice ‘thing’ to ‘look at’, that’s about it, certainly not 'The' speaker, totally misses the mark.Going to pack it up and send it back. I really wanted to like this but its a flop sonically.

A nice little speaker
The media could not be loaded. The BALMUDA speaker is pretty unusual. A lot of speakers have lights. Some have lights which flash or strobe, and some even synch. The BALMUDA has lights which synch, or pulse, or just glow. It really creates a nice atmosphere. There is no question that this speaker is as much about light as it is about sound, but the sound is also very good. It is balanced, clear and a lot of different music plays well on it. It is not very loud, but loud enough. I think it would work well in a small room, and honestly think it would be the ideal camping accessory. This speaker would be simply great in a tent. I listened to it in my semi-enclosed studio and it did fine outdoors, though I do not expect that it projected much. I also do not think it has any kind of waterproof rating, since the manual cautioned against water and humidity. All that said, it is not trying to be a party speaker. There is no booming bass, but it would work well for a smaller, indoor party, or just as a companion speaker.I have tried a lot of blue tooth speakers, A LOT. You can definitely find better sound in this price range, but the Balmuda does sound good, and it really is an atmospheric speaker. I have not seen, anything quite like it.I wish it had a handle, because it would also make a good lantern. It has that kind of feel. I also wish the controls were more visible. In low light they are very difficult to see (which is what that picture aimed at the bottom (control panel) is about. I would also like aptx, but really can not complain about the sound. It is a very unique speaker and I believe will find its' audience.I think if I had only one speaker, I would not choose this one because sometimes I want the volume, and I definitely have audiophile leanings, but I will be using this. It is enjoyable and very good for ambient music {by which I mean background music, not elevator music}..... in fact, ambient speaker is probably the most apt description. It creates a very pleasant atmosphere, and can really transform a small space.I value creativity and innovation. This speaker really is unique, and well done. It is made in Japan, which you do not see very often at this point in time, and the build quality and attention to detail is very good.I think this would be great on a deck or enclosed lanai, or, as mentioned earlier, to provide light, sound, entertainment in a tent.I am demanding when I review audio equipment. I rated this 5 stars because it is unique, very well made, has good sound quality and really does something no other speaker I have seen does.
