Easy to use
I was originally looking for a single cup cafetiere when I spotted this and decided to give it a go. I am so pleased that I did. It makes delicious coffee, is really easy to use and clean, is environmentally friendly (no paper filters needed) and is portable. What's not to love?I bought a medium size and use 3 slightly heaped teaspoons of coffee to make a small standard sized cup which is exactly what I wanted. If you want a mug of coffee, you'll need a bigger size. I shall be ordering more - one for myself to take to work and some as quirky Christmas presents for friends who are hard to find something quirky for :)

Pleased with the results, pleasant way to make a coffee
First try I used some regular cafetiere coffee I had to hand - the coffee was ok but had been painfully slow coming through (I expected slow but took forever - think I pressed it down too much), adjusted the amount of grinds used and on the next attempt levelled it without putting much pressure on and tried again, was rewarded with an excellent cup of coffee. I have had a few cups now and each has been great, nice coffee smell while the drip-through is taking place. Also ordered up some proper Vietnamese grounds to use with it and need to get some condensed milk for the full experience. Once you get your technique right its easy to reproduce a great cup each time and it looks the part too, it's also compact so would be ideal to take camping or to keep at the office.

Simple, but effective!
This coffee maker is amazing in its simpleness. The individual parts are easy to wash (quick rinse under the tap), and getting the old beans out is super easy (just turn the coffee maker upside down and shake above the recycling bin). The first two cups I brewed took ages to drip through, but I traced this down to me compacting the coffee too much. I've now resorted to adding coffee to the maker (about 10g - 1.5 spoons), lightly tapping the coffee maker on the side to even out the coffee and then just dropping the coffee compressor plate on top. It seems to take about 5 minutes to drip through using this method. The coffee comes out tasting very strong, and the vietnamese coffee I've tried it with definitely tastes stronger using this than e.g. using my Aeropress coffee maker.Very happy with my purchase.

Easy to use
Really good piece of kit. Used twice now and had great results. Usually brew with around 60ml of water and then too up with hot water. Excellent

I bought this out of curiosity. I have been drinking coffee since I was ten, all in almost 50 years now. I have a barista at home since espresso its my personal favourite and a normal filter machine and French press for dinner parties. For this filter set I use normal coffee as I tried the Vietnamese beans but they are not to my taste, to sweet. The flavour is very distinctive, one I have never tasted before in a filter coffee. An added bonus is the practicality of the filter set. All you need is hot water and a cup, ideal for offices to avoid the torture of a Nescafe. I bought the medium size which gives a bit more than a large espresso. I have since ordered a larger set to get a full cup. Two final things. It is a slow drip, so be patient. I would say for the medium it takes three to four minutes. Also the strength of the coffee. I mill my own beans and generally go for medium to fine which increases the flavour. You can also increase the strength by applying pressure through the gravity insert before adding water. Be careful so, it will be strong, stronger than your average espresso. All in, for this price you should give it a try

A different coffee experience
Nicely made and effective filter for making coffee using the percolation method, i.e. hot water is poured on the coffee in the filter and passes through into the cup. A good idea for single cup drinking and if you buy Vietnamese coffee you can recreate the way they drink it with condensed milk placed in the cup before adding the coffee. May sound weird or distasteful to espresso lovers but try it - it's really different and very tasty. The vendors send you an email with illustrated instructions on making both hot and iced coffee before the filter even arrived, and there is another copy with the delivery. Excellent service. I query the amount of coffee (2-3 tablespoons) suggested in the instructions as too much for a single cup, but you can experiment with different amounts to suit your taste. Be aware that it does take some time for the liquid to drip through, at least 2-3 mins.

I couldn't use this to make a decent cup of coffee, but maybe that's just me.
It appears to be a robust relatively well made device and it wasn't hard to clean: they're the positive things that I could find about it.I tried, honestly I did: I filled it with my usual coffee, I popped the thing over my usual mug and realised that, because the protuding lugs are at the top of the unit the thing was suspended deep into my mug. I then tried to use the separate drip tray thing to raise the unit on my mug, the thing now leaked over the top of the mug. So, plan B: get a bigger mug and dispense with the drip tray - it worked except for the fact that it took so long for the coffee to drain through it was stone cold by the time I got to drink it.I'd charity shop it except that I'd feel uneasy about foisting it on someone else. Oh well.Update: I have unexpectedly been offered a full refund, I really thought that my experince was "just one of those things" we all buy something that just doen't work for us. So, based on exemplary after sales customer care I think I should really upgrade my overall rating from 2 to 3. 6 out of 5 for customer service though.

Best coffee I have had in a long time
It makes the best coffee obviously it depends on the coffee I used. Since I have this I have stopped drinking instant coffees. The only criticism I have is that it takes around 5 minutes to make a cup of coffee and that makes the coffee a little bit colder then making an instant coffee. I wish I had bought larger size. I bought the medium size and it is perfect for a small cup of coffee served in whisky cup.Updating review after 2 months, I love making coffee In this little device and I have learned to make my coffee a little bit quicker than when I first started using this.
