Sogatel Skype Compatible Sphere Webcam with Mic for Windows and Mac

Initially I was looking for an apple iSight for a friends Apple Mac. The price of these second hand are so high! I found this product doing an Amazon search.I think this has been one of the best purchases I have made. An inexpensive cam, that works brilliantly. It's USB 1.0 /2.0 so that's great. For Mac users you need to pop off to the manufacturers website to download a driver, that took all but two minutes. It sits on the Mac just fine.I purchased this from premier-express who were just brilliant! The item arrived so fast!

After having had much more sophisticated and expensive Logitec and Philips webcams on previous PCs, I needed a new webcam to go with Vista. That limited my choice immediately and it was down to this one and one other - this one won on price initially and the fact that I only need it to use with MSN Messenger. This is perfect for that - it is easy to set-up, very clear picture and the sound is okay (not brilliant quality but it wasn't with the more expensive cameras). The only slight hiccup is that the cable it quite short and so it's not quite where I want to position the camera. But picture quality is great for chatting and some of the fun effects you can use on your picture make for good entertainment for children. I had a problem with getting sound but this is to do vista not the webcam - you need to start an audio call first and then start the camera, not start a video call. Would definately (and have) recommend this for a lower priced chatting webcam.

Does the job, automatically connected very easy. Quite a large camera, auto light sensitivity could be better but for the price good enough for the odd call.

I am returning this item. I have now bought a Logitech c525 which is spot on for a web cam/microphone.The Sogatel has poor image quality, it is worse in low light. The colours are in no way natural. It is MANUAL focus, it does not zoom.The microphone works in as much as when you hold it to your lips and talk loudly, with the gain way up, it just about picks you up but by that point (gain up) the quality is dreadful.Totally irrespective of price I cannot imagine this being in any way sufficient for even the most basic user requirements (in my case Skype video calling).

It arrived quickly and undamaged - thank you.On opening the box and taking the web cam out of its packaging the lens cover fell off and kept falling off.The web cam was wanted for win 10 and the instructions that came with it showed it was only good up to win 7, although under win 10 it did load.The software to adjust the web cam settings didn't work and the manual focus was very hard to adjust and dreadfully difficult to turn to focus with a very small turn circle from close up to infinity to the point where to get it in focus was very hard - in fact it never looked in focus.The picture quality was very poor.

Ordering was simple and straightforward, delivery was very quick even though I had opted for the free service, top marks to the seller.It is a standard plug-in and play piece of kit that gives simple on screen instructions on how to get started. I used to communicate with various members of my family and friends, bring them closer to me through my PC; seeing them makes the whole experience of talking to them much more warming. The quality of pictures is great for a competitively priced webcam and the sound is very clear and audible.I am really pleased with it and consider it good value for money; would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to set-up a Skype connection.

Well pleased with results from this webcam. Family and friends as far away as Australiahave said my picture and sounds much improved on Skype. I would just make a single,slight change. This concerns th retention of the camera atop the screen is not as firm asI would wish. But it does not influence operation; I just have to be more careful whenshifting locations.

Found this to be a lovely little camera with easy set up. It looks nice and sits comfortably on the computer. Good picture quality. If you're not looking to spend a lot of money this is definitely worth considering.
