It says that it is OK for fish & plants, but says NOT for wildlife ponds! Why!?

Mr Braulik - thanks for your question.  I used Nishikoi Clear Water Blanket weed treatment last year to clear my blanket weed.  I had dug a new pond in May, and stocked it with 10 goldfish and several oxygenating plants, as well as some marginals.  With all this care and attention the water was very good and the goldfish bred, but so did the blanket weed.  The initial dose of Nishikoi was very effective at clearing the weed, and did not harm either plants or animals.  My pond is not huge so I would not consider it a  wildlife pond.  However in Feb 4 couples of frogs appeared and produced copious clumps of frog spawn.  The water boatman are back, and I expect later on I will get come dragon flies.   Birds of all descriptions and sizes use the pond for water.  None of these animals of plants were affected in any way by the Nishikoi treatment.   Hope this helps

does this change the colour of the water when using

Pretty much as everyone has stated, the product is white granular powder which is added to pond water. I'm not particularly technical about exact measures. When mixed with water the water in the bucket is opaque (White) and once in the pond there is a level  of general cloudiness which vanishes quite quickly. Obviously the more you use, the more  opaque the water will be. Our pond is around 1,000 gallons I found that during the summer I was using this product  weekly (5 - 6 of the included scoop)  missing a week wasn't the end of the world, however any longer and the weed started to return. The is the only product I found to be effective against green weed, however like all preventive products it does need to be used consistently - not just when you notice weed.

Can this be used while you have pond salt in there already and how much do I put in for a 1,000 gallon pond please

I would say it's OK, I have pond salt in mine ready for the winter, it's not a chemical treatment so it is safe,  amount states 25ml per 500 litres of water, so just convert your 1,000 gallons to litres, divide by 500, which gives the number of 25ml portions to put in the pond. which works out at 9 portions for first treatment, if further treatment needed just follow instructions.

It even states in description that is toxic to aquatic life..has anyone had any issues with it?

I have used this product successfully for the past two years in my Koi pound, it important to use as instructed  & to calculate pond volume accurately. If followed this is an excellent product for the elimination of clinging blanket weed,, with no apparent detrimental effect on fish.
