Triple bill of Disney animated features following a naive and curious lion cub as he struggles to find his place in nature's great 'circle of life'. In 'The Lion King' (1994) Simba (voice of Jonathan Taylor Thomas/Matthew Broderick) is excited about being king of the pride but is forced into exile by his evil and greedy uncle, Scar (Jeremy Irons), who wants to claim the throne for himself. Away from his family, Simba meets a meerkat named Timon (Nathan Lane) and a warthog named Pumbaa (Ernie Sabella). With the help of his new friends he overcomes great fear and adversity to defeat Scar and take his rightful place as ruler of the Pride Lands. In 'The Lion King 2 - Simba's Pride' (1998) Simba's wilful daughter, Kiara (Neve Campbell), escapes her inept babysitters, Timon and Pumbaa, and goes in search of adventure. She wanders into the forbidden Outlands, where she encounters Kovu (Jason Marsden), a young cub who is following in the evil Scar's pawprints. However, Simba is forced to make difficult decisions when Kiara and Kovu fall in love. In 'The Lion King 3 - Hakuna Matata' (2004) the original story is told from Timon and Pumbaa's perspective. When Timon decides to explore the world, it's not long before his path crosses with that of Pumbaa and they become good friends. But their plan to find a new home is forgotten when they come across a young cub called Simba and help him save the Serengeti..

Classic original versions with superb blu-ray quality
The original Lion King made cinematic history for several reasons: it was the first commercial DIGITAL sound release (which gave a whole new dimension to suitably equipped cinemas) and it been one of Disney's best known animated features. In fact, even Disney studios found it so difficult to make any better their 'live action' version (unlike Cinderella, Jungle Book, Dumbo, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin) is virtually scene for scene a recreation of the original. The two spin-off features did not do nearly as well, but are well worth watching. This terrific value for money collection of all three Lion King animated features is a must for any film library.

Great to see the original animation in Blu-ray
Went recently to see the 2019 "live-action" remake of the Lion King in the cinema and although the new edition was perfectly fine, it just made me nostalgic to see the original animation of my childhood and the newer version is no comparison despite all the big-name celebrities who've lent their voices to beloved characters. The two "straight-to-DVD" sequels are also a very enjoyable addition - but nothing holds a candle to the original. One of the best movies of the '90s if not of all time!

Simply wonderful!
As a small child, my eldest daughter watched The Lion King over and over again and cried every single time at exactly the same point in the movie. As our family grew, the original DVD became scratched and was no longer useable. I decided to purchase this set for the same daughter to watch with her toddler sister and both of them have spent hours bonding over it. It is a truly wonderful collection and it brings back so many memories for my husband and me when we hear our eldest and youngest singing the songs together and chatting about their favourite and least favourite parts of each movie...

Good Film - Sadly no German language option, unlike what the description claims!
The original Lion King film is wonderful, still haven't seen the other two. Box is nice and set is decently priced. Here's the BUT:I bought this because this page listed German as one of the dubbed language options. The German version of The Lion King has been unavailabe for ages and people pay in excess of £50 for older releases. So imagine my excitement at reading that this one has the German language option.Except it doesn't. It has Dutch dubbing instead (not the same, Amazon, not the same...!). Which is pretty useless to me (raising a German-English bilingual child). The set is still nice and my child just watches it in English, but I'm a bit disappointed by the mistake in the description.

Great movie
We have started to transfer our dvd over to blu- ray so the Disney series has been the first to move across. The transfer quality is amazing the sound quality is outstanding as well. So if want to upgrade to Blu-ray this is an excellent version and it is so much cheaper now.

Bought this set for our daughter and it's not a disappointment at all.. Love all three films and to find them in a good box set like this I'm so very happy.. Our daughter seems to like watching it as well so even more happy with it as it was mainly bought for her!!
